II Baseball x Shy!Reader (The Letters from the Secret Admirer)
(Requested by: @Thanos_stolemyweave )
Since they had gotten here, (Y/n) was constantly on edge. Never before had they been surrounded by this many people before. Well... objects. Sentient objects, to be exact.
It all began two months ago, during the events of "For the Grater Good." (Y/n) was relaxing at home, peacefully nodding off, when they fell through a portal, and right on top of Mephone.
"O-Oh my god! I-I'm so sorry-" Mephone grunted, pushing her off, and setting up, lightly glaring at her. "You sure know how to make an entrance, don't you?"
(Y/n)'s face turned red, and they started to tear up slightly. "I-I'm sorr-" Mephone sighed. "I know, I know." He rose his hands defensively. He then pointed toward a group of objects.
"Go wait with the Grand Slams until the contest is over. I know a guy who can take you in until my dimensional portal app is fixed." (Y/n) tensed slightly.
He didn't bring them here? Knowing they wouldn't be able to question him, they begrudgingly walked over to the "Grand Slams."
The team seemed to be finished with the contest, sitting around and talking to each other. Guess it was just the other team that needed to finish.
Looking around, they tried to pick the spot that was the least crowded, and sat down silently. Thankfully, they didn't seem to be noticed.
However, they did feel one stare. But, they were unable to pinpoint where it actually came from. They sighed, thinking it was probably just anxiety.
By the time the other team was done, everyone gathered at the judge's table, away from (Y/n). They sighed in relief, smiling slightly.
Standing up, they curiously glanced over at the gathering. However, they froze in fear. A large object was paying no mind to what the judges had to say, and instead was staring at (Y/n).
For how long, they couldn't be sure, but they knew one thing:
(Y/n) had just made eye contact with them.
They could feel the color drain from their face, and their blood turn cold as the object staring at her couldn't seem to look away. (Y/n) felt faint, and woozy.
Their heart was beating too fast for their body to handle. They wanted to look away, but they couldn't. Before they knew it, the judging was over.
(Y/n) couldn't see anything in front of them clearly. Everything was blurry. They could barely register the voice of Mephone calling them.
Next thing they knew, they passed out.
The next day they woke up in OJ's hotel, and nothing happened for a while.
Until the day he decided to sue Mephone.
That was when they saw the terrifying object that was staring them down, only up closer. (Y/n) learned that the object's name was Baseball, and that they were the team leader of the Grand Slams.
(Y/n) could remember the first interaction they had. OJ had become the new host, and asked everyone who lost last time. Nickel was the first to speak up.
"Us! Like always! Right Baseball?" He frowned slightly upon seeing a completely zoned out Baseball. "Baseball?" He snapped back to reality, blushing slightly. "W-What? Oh! Yeah!"
It was then that the argument started between the Grand Slams and the Bright Lights, but Baseball managed to sneak in some glances of (Y/n). Every time he stared at them, they could feel it, and shivered in fear each time.
They were completely terrified, however, it was nothing against him. They were just scared of everyone in general. There was a reason they spent most of the time alone. [i- I almost wrote "almond"-]
Social interaction was never their strong suit. Eventually, they stopped arguing, and OJ unfairly eliminated Suitcase. "So unfair! I mean, we would've outlasted her anyways, but..." Nickel said, giving a side glance.
Baseball started to walk away from him. "Uh huh..." He absent-mindedly replied. He continued to stare at (Y/n) who was sitting against the building. Nickel rose an eyebrow. "Are you...planning something?"
Baseball nodded, not hearing a word he said. "Yeah, do whatever." Nickel was about to say something, but Soap interrupted. "Yes! Don't worry Baseball, just leave this challenge to me!"
As the challenge was about to begin, OJ quickly went over to (Y/n) before Baseball could get to them. "Do you want to do the countdown, my adorable co-host?" OJ teased them, causing both Baseball and (Y/n) to flinch.
"C-Co-host?" They repeated, confused. OJ chuckled, ruffling their (h/c) hair. They flinched slightly from the touch, going unnoticed by OJ, but not by Baseball.
He felt this odd feeling he never experienced before. Like a fire was eating away at his insides. "Well, if I'm gonna be the host of this show, I need a cute, lovable co-host," he coughed, "you," he spoke quickly, regaining his composure, "and I think it could help your... er... "socialization issues" too."
OJ smiled at (Y/n) pulling them up beside him. They stumbled slightly, falling into OJ's arms. Baseball glared at him, trying to stay calm. He walked over to the two, separating them with his legs.
"You should really start the challenge now." He said, casting a glance over to Soap, and stepping in front of (Y/n) protectively. "I don't think she can wait much longer." OJ nodded.
"Shoot, you're right, I'll just have to do the countdown myself today." He tried to look at (Y/n), but Baseball would move every time to block his vision. "We'll work on this tomorrow!" OJ said to them.
OJ ran off, and Baseball sighed, finally getting some alone time with the mysterious stranger. He turned to face them, a smile on his face. "Hey." He greeted. (Y/n) visibly tensed, feeling slightly scared.
They couldn't speak, even though they tried to. Baseball smiled in understanding. "I see, don't worry. We don't have to talk if you don't want to right now." He sat down, patting the spot next to him with his leg.
Hesitantly, (Y/n) sat down beside him, much to his delight. They sat quietly for a while, watching the others sing about cleaning. He felt bad for abandoning the team like that, but he couldn't stop thinking about (Y/n).
They had been haunting his mind ever since the first meeting. Well, "meeting." More like...he stared them down for an uncomfortably long time. He didn't mean to, he had just never seen anyone so adorable.
He knew from their reactions they were shy. And when they locked eyes together, he couldn't look away. Even from far away, he could tell how gorgeous their (e/c) eyes were. It was then that Baseball knew he had to meet them.
This was the perfect chance to get close to them, the perfect moment. Except when the competition ruined everything again. "What did you just say?!" Nickel yelled, causing Baseball to wince, and (Y/n) to flinch again.
They quickly stood up. "I-I have to go." Before Baseball could convince them otherwise, they rushed back inside the hotel. He sighed, then glared at his team. "And the perfect moment, ruined again."
He stood up, walking over to his team. Microphone crossed her arms. "All I'm saying is that Soap would make a better team leader!" She said, causing Soap to smile. "She's the only one between you and Baseball that's actually being nice to me!"
Nickel scowled. He noticed Baseball had returned. "Oh, look who decided to show up." The three stared at Baseball. "What gives?! You abandoned us halfway through the challenge!" Baseball frowned.
"I know, I'm sorry!" He turned back towards the hotel. "That human, their name is (Y/n)," he smiled, blushing at their mention, "they were here too, and...I thought..." The three of his teammates smiled brightly.
"Ohhhh, you were cozying you to the co-host to win their favor...good plan." Nickel smirked. Soap and Microphone rolled their eyes at him. "That's not what's going on." Soap shook her head.
Microphone grabbed her face with both hands, stars in her eyes. "You're in love, Baseball!" He blushed, flinching, then looking around, before shushing her. "Be quiet! I don't want to scare them away like I have before!"
He sighed. "I tried so hard this time...I just don't know how to get closer without overstepping my boundaries." Soap giggled, putting a hand on her hip. "Well, there is one thing you can do...and it won't scare them off!"
He looked back up, staring at her with interest. "Really?" He asked. Soap and Microphone looked between each other, nodding, then looked back at him. "Love letters!" They said at the same time.
Baseball quirked an eyebrow. "You can write your feelings out in the form of a letter, or poem, and send it to (Y/n) anonymously!" Microphone explained. Soap nodded.
"And then when you feel confident enough to finally confront them, you tell them to meet you in person, and by then, they'll be totally smitten with you!"
Baseball smiled, starting to like the idea. "That...actually sounds great." He admits, staring back at the hotel, watching as (Y/n) quickly passed by a window, then disappeared.
And for the entire season, he did just that. (Y/n) never could tell who the letters were truly from, and every time they got one, their heart beat so fast, everyone could hear it.
However, they noticed after Mazed and Confused, the letters started to get darker. One particular day, Mepad teleported to the hotel, letter in leg.
Salt and Pepper snickered, as the room was filled with fast thumping. "Well, (Y/n)'s got another letter it seems." Paper commented, slightly laughing.
(Y/n) blushed slightly, and Mepad handed them the note, then teleported off. Nickel, who knew about the letters since the first day Baseball wrote them, discretely watched.
He sat two seats away from them at the bar table. When he noticed their sad frown, he couldn't help but read it.
"After a close friend of mine was eliminated, I haven't exactly been doing...well. It seems my entire world is filled with darkness, but when I look at you, (Y/n)..."
"You light my way. I don't think I could bare to lose you too, the shining angel that wouldn't get out of my head. I don't know if you'll ever love someone like me...but I couldn't be mad if you did."
"Love, your Secret Admirer."
When (Y/n) was finished, Nickel could tell they were panicking. They didn't know what to do. They had never experienced something like this before, what was the appropriate thing to do?
They hugged the letter to their chest, coming to a conclusion. (Y/n) smiled, getting up, and walking back to their room. Nickel suddenly knew what was going to happen.
Baseball, on the other hand, was shocked, face entirely red. When Mepad came back the first time, he was talking to Mephone, then stopped, and teleported back to the hotel.
When he came back, he appeared next to Baseball, handing him a letter. Baseball took it, and gasped. (Y/n) had wrote him back. They actually wrote him back!
He smiled, almost tearing up. Then, it fell. What were they going to say?! He quickly read through it, and his smile grew back.
"This is going to be short, like, really short. Mostly because I've never done something like this before. I don't know who you could be, and I don't think it matters at this point."
"Your letters, while scary at first, made me feel something I don't understand. It's driving me crazy, this new, unfamiliar emotion, making my heart beat even faster than someone entering the room."
"I want to know who you are, but I'm scared. What if I'm not the angel you imagined? I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm rambling. The point is...I think I want to see you."
Baseball chuckled at the abrupt ending, they really hadn't done something like this before, had they? He was excited, a chance to meet them in person!
He thought he knew the perfect place to reveal his identity. Suddenly, fire flew into his face, scorching everything around him, including his letter.
Once it stopped, he noticed Paintbrush was at the center of it, and that all the paintings were scorched. He glared at them, and they sheepishly smiled.
After Paintbrush was eliminated, he angrily sighed. "The only time I get (Y/n) to speak, and it's burned by hot-head over there." He tsked, regaining composure. "I think it's time to finally meet."
This brings us to the present day. (Y/n) had just gotten a letter from the admirer. All it read was: "Not bothering doing the challenge, meet me in the haunted house."
(Y/n) smiled, a light blush on her face. It was currently past curfew, so they would need to sneak out. Which they definitely was capable of doing.
Slipping out of their room, they snuck down to the parlor. They were almost to the door, when someone grabbed their arm. They gasped, spinning around to face the culprit.
They expected OJ, but it was Nickel. He smiled. "Good luck out there." He frowned, and added: "and if you hurt him, I will hunt you down."
He walked away, leaving behind a shaking (Y/n). They shook it off, and ran outside, running to the haunted mansion. When they got there, they had to catch their breath.
Leaning against the door, it opened, causing them to fall flat on their face. "Ow..." They mumbled, hoping their admirer didn't see that. No one was in the parlor of the mansion, and they sighed.
Their admirer must have been deeper in the mansion. Groaning slightly, they walked deeper into the mansion. They had never been here before, so they didn't know what to expect.
Suddenly, they bumped into someone. They gasped, profusely apologizing. "I-I-I'm so, so sorry!" They avoided eye contact, bowing their head slightly.
"Hey, don't worry!" They heard a familiar, terrifying voice. Slowly, they looked up, meeting the eyes of Baseball. (Y/n) stuttered quite a bit, as their words started to sound similar to sim-speak.
Baseball smiled, and their face went red. "Are you okay? You don't seem to be speaking English anymore." He joked. (Y/n) looked down hiding their blush. They were able to compose themselves.
"S-So...y-you wrote t-those letters?" They asked. Baseball nodded, before realizing they couldn't see him nod. "Yeah..." He was at a loss for words, he had his dream date right in front of him, but he didn't know what to say!
It just seemed so easier to express his feelings on paper! After moments of silence, an annoyed voice roared. "THAT'S IT, I'VE HAD IT!" Baseball started to float, being thrown into a closet, then was followed by (Y/n) being thrown in too.
The door closed, locking. "You two have, like, been sitting there not saying nothing for minutes!" A familiar voice spoke. "It's sooo obvious you're in love with each other! Don't even think about coming out of that closet until you are a couple!"
Another familiar voice spoke. "Yeah, and like, you should totally make out while you're at it too." The other voice seemed to rage. "THANKS FOR MAKING IT AWKWARD, DOUGH!" The voice seemed to get quieter, like they were storming off.
"You're welcome." Baseball winced, looking down at (Y/n), before awkwardly laughing. "Ha...guess he doesn't understand sarcasm." (Y/n) seemed even more flustered now.
"R-Right..." They tried to smile. Baseball smiled back. He suddenly remembered what one of the voices said, and flushed red. "So, is it true what the other ghost said?" He asked, causing (Y/n) to look up at him.
"A-About w-what?" Baseball, looking away slightly, chuckled nervously. "Well...one of them said you were just as into me as I was into you." (Y/n) stuttered uncontrollably again, and Baseball stared at them in worry.
"Whoa, whoa! Calm dow-" He tried to scoot closer, but tripped, trapping (Y/n) against the wall. They gasped, face burning so red, he could see it in the dark. He started to apologize, but stopped, as he heard their heart.
It was beating so fast, like a drum on a rampage, he couldn't help but be mesmerized by the sound. When it started to calm down, he was broken out of his trance. He looked at them, their blush had simmered down slightly.
A strand of their hair had fallen in their face. He smiled, pushing it out of the way with his leg, but before he could reel it back, they gently grabbed it. "T-There it is again..." They stuttered, their blush rising again.
"T-This weird feeling...i-it hurts so much, but feels s-so wonderful?" They stared at him, confusion in their eyes. "W-What are you d-doing to m-me?" He stared back at them in shock.
They did feel the same way about him! They just didn't know what the feeling was! He smiled, slightly excited. "I-It's love, I'm sure of it!" He answered back a little too loudly, making them flinch.
"I feel the same way about you!" He said, a little more calmly this time. "When you first came here, I couldn't look away. You were so odd, in a good way of course, I couldn't understand why I couldn't take my eyes off you."
He sheepishly avoided eye contact. "It was love at first sight, in a way." He looked back at them. "I really wanted to talk to you, but never really could, until now." (Y/n), for the first time ever, smiled a genuine smile.
"I...I'm sorry." They said, causing Baseball's smile to shatter. "I'm sorry I kept you waiting for so long." They placed a hand next to his face, blushing once again. They could feel his blush rising.
Baseball smiled, before hesitantly pressing (Y/n) against the wall and kissing them. They gasped slightly, unfamiliar with the feeling, but kissed back flusteredly. The giant they had once been afraid of turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to them.
They were no longer afraid of him, but instead felt safe with him. The kiss ended abruptly, when they both needed to stop for air. That's when they noticed the door was open, and three shocked figures were standing there.
Marshmallow blushed, covering her eyes. "O-Oh. That's why you t-tried to stop me from opening the door." She stuttered slightly, as Bow sheepishly looked at Baseball. "Hehe... sorry. I tried to stop her...but got occupied."
Baseball angrily stood up, his face red with embarrassment. "Bow?! Marshmallow?!" He sighed, pulling (Y/n) close to him. "I'm going to ask questions later, and pretend you didn't just ruin a special moment."
He picked (Y/n) up, causing them to squeak in surprise. Placing them on his head, he started to walk out of the mansion. Dough huffed. "He didn't even acknowledge me." Bow rolled her eyes. "What a shocker."
Once Baseball and (Y/n) were back at the hotel, they tried to sneak in, but the lights flicked on once they entered. Everyone in the hotel was at the parlor. Baseball froze slightly, as Salt and Pepper squealed in joy.
"You're both finally together now!" Pepper giggled, as Baseball and (Y/n) blushed. "Like, finally! It was soooo frustrating watching you two pin for each other!" Salt snickered. OJ chuckled. "Congrats, man."
Baseball stuttered, then glared at the residents. "How did you even know?!" He rose his voice, calming down slightly when (Y/n) placed a comforting hand on his head. Fan chuckled.
"Well, Bow updated her status with pics of you..." He squinted his eyes, then widened them. If he was blushing, no one could tell. "Oh my..." Trophy sneaked a glance at the pic, blushing too.
"Damn, I didn't think you had the guts to do that...you've earned my respect." He gave Baseball a thumbs up. Baseball blushed even more. "It's just a kiss! What's so scandalous about that?!"
Fan nervously chuckled. "Well...Bow... oof...heh...she uh...she didn't frame it as such." Baseball glared at him, shaking his head slightly. Then, he started to walk off. "Whatever, think what you want."
He turned around as (Y/n) started to climb down. He protectively stood in front of them, hiding them behind him. "Don't bug us for the rest of the night, okay?" Salt and Pepper giggled, going: "oooh!~" Like school girls.
Baseball rolled his eyes. "S-Shut up." He stood close to (Y/n) as they walked down the hall to their room. OJ tried to stop them "w-Wait, they aren't co-ed!" But they were both already gone.
Paintbrush lightly glared at OJ. "Hey, they both deserve a little peace and quiet." They then gently punched him in the back of the head. "And don't assume (Y/n)'s gender either. We don't know what they prefer yet."
Everyone then dispersed, going back to their rooms. Once Baseball and (Y/n) reached their room, Baseball closed the door. He turned around, a flirtatious smile on his face. "Well, should we begin where we left off?~"

(A/n) annnnnnd first request done! It wasn't supposed to be this long-
But the person who requested it gave me some awesome ideas! So that's why it turned out longer than a oneshot usually is-
I can't promise every request will be like this, it does depend on the character and what ideas pop up when I start brainstorming how to write them.
It also usually isn't this fast when I complete requests, again it depends on the character and idea. Like I literally could not stop writing last night-
I had to force myself to stop before I was caught up at 3:00 in the morning-
But anyways, I hope you enjoyed this first request ever! And I especially hope the person who requested it liked it too!
Thanks for reading!~
