Flirty!Announcer x Shy!Fem!Reader (The Flirt)
Requested by: InotlillyXC
Notes: Reader uses she/her pronouns, slight au (Four doesn't sink into the earth). First time writing this character.
The soft music wrapped around (Y/n) as she gently swung her legs back and forth over the cliff. Her mind was elsewhere, as she failed to notice someone approaching.
"(Y/n)." Four spoke, startling the poor girl. She flinched, nearly losing her balance. Thankfully, Four was quick to stop her from tumbling off the cliff.
He stared at her with concern, as she took off her headphones. "Sorry, you okay?" He asked, as she quickly nodded. "Mhm..." Four sighed in relief, setting her on the ground.
"I need you to help me find the Have Nots." He said, as (Y/n) stood up. "It's time for Cake at Stake...where could they be?" He told her, mumbling the last part.
Glancing around, (Y/n) started to walk towards the usual spot the Have Cots would hang around.
Purple Face winced slightly. Flicking the branches back in place, he turned towards the contestants. "Let's hurry up." He said. "Stick is out."
Flower frowned in confusion. "Wait... Just like that?" Purple Face nodded. "Yes...?" A small smile spread across Flower's face. "Huh." She mumbled, as he spit out Leafy.
"Gross, thanks for ruining the moment." She tsked. However, he wasn't paying attention. He was looking out the bushes again.
Curious, the non eliminated contestants gathered around the small opening. They noticed he was staring at (Y/n). Flower rose a non-existent eyebrow.
"What, are you scared of her, or something?" She asked, to which Purple Face scoffed. "No!" He said defensively. "I was just making sure she didn't find us!"
He turned to face Flower. "Four has her looking for us." He smiled. "Luckily, she's checking the bushes on the other side." Firey nervously rose his arms up.
"Wait. Next to the temple?!" He asked frantically. Purple Face blinked. "Yeah, why?" Firey clenched his head. "Oh my gosh! I heard strange noises coming from over there the other day!"
The contestants gasped. "What?!" Flower stood up. "Oh my gardener, what are we doing just sitting here?! We need to-" The bush suddenly collapsed, leaving the hidden contestants exposed.
"There you all are!" Four said angrily. However, when he saw the looks of worry on their faces, his anger turned into confusion. Then, Firey made his blood freeze.
"Where's (Y/n)?!"
Quietly listening, (Y/n) tried to find any signs of the contestants. She had slipped away from the usual spot Four would host Cake at Stake, but she didn't realize.
Turning a corner, she noticed a large temple sitting in between the rocks. Curiously, she started to walk towards it. Maybe the contestants had gone inside?
Faint static echoed through the area, giving (Y/n) chills. She wanted to find the others as soon as possible. "F-Firey? B-Blocky?" She quietly called out.
"Woody...F-Flower...?" (Y/n) turned around, tending slightly. The static was getting louder. She gasped, backing away slightly. A twig snapped under her foot.
Screaming, (Y/n) fell backwards through a nearby bush. Pain tingled in her back, and she winced, turning on her side. "Ow..."
The static had suddenly stopped. Curiously, (Y/n) looked for the object that hurt her back. An odd black and gray box was beside her.
"Hm..." She started to inspect it. "That was the shortest fall ever recorded in history." The box spoke, causing her to yelp. (Y/n) scooted away from it.
"O-Oh dear! I-I'm so s-sorry-" She started to apologize. "Which is odd," He continued, moving closer to her,
"Because I though heaven was supposed to be in the clouds.~"
(Y/n) stared at him with a blank expression. "...W-Wait..." (Y/n)'s face burned a bright red as she realized what the box was saying.
Of course, he was quick to notice this. "I'm not mad, though." He said. "I heard it's good luck if a pretty girl falls on you." He scooted even closer.
"Guess I'm having good luck for all of eternity.~"
(Y/n)'s face burned brighter as her heart started to race faster. "I-I- Who even a-are you?!" She asked, looking away. "They call me the Announcer."
He told her. Sitting up, (Y/n) stared at him in confusion. 'Announcer'...? Where had she heard that name before? Then, it hit her. Her eyes shone with realization.
"Oh! W-Weren't you the o-original host of B-BFDI?" She asked. Announcer laughed robotically. "So you have heard of me." He said, in an oddly joyful way.
"To answer your question: yes, I was." Announcer told her. (Y/n) started to grow nervous. "...But...W-Why are you b-back?" She asked him.
He was quiet for a moment. Hesitantly, she backed up a bit. "Oh...I just came to...check up on the contest..." He finally answered.
(Y/n) tried to stand up, only for a metal hand of some sorts to grab her arm. Letting out another panicked yelp, (Y/n) stumbled back to the ground.
"Don't tell anyone you saw me." He said, serious. "I wouldn't want the others to spoil our little meeting." Announcer said. Suddenly, a familiar voice called.
"(Y/N)!!" Four screeched in panic. "WHERE ARE YOU?!" Letting go of her, Announcer turned around. "Sigh. Guess they all noticed your disappearance."
Quickly adding: "Although I can't blame them. It's like noticing when the sun disappears." (Y/n) blushed again, before staring at him in confusion.
"Wait...d-did you say 'sigh'?" The Announcer quickly rushed off. Just in time too, Four quickly burst through the bushes, latching onto (Y/n) protectively.
"There you are!" He said, picking her up. He hugged her. "Thank goodness you're fine!" The others quickly rushed over. "We heard you scream, what happened?!"
(Y/n) looked at Leafy, face still red. Everyone took notice.
Including Four.
He stared at the girl with concern... and suspicion. "(Y/n)...what happened?" She flinched, quickly hiding her face. "N-Nothing! I-I promise!! I-I just f-fell..."
Four gently sat her down, a serious look on his face. "Hm." He turned around. "If you say so..." Walking away, he motioned for her to follow.
"Come on, we need to announce the next challenge." He said, as everyone started to walk away from the temple. (Y/n) looked back for a moment.
What was the real reason the Announcer was there?
"It's just too difficult, Four!" X said, as he tried to recover Purple Face. (Y/n) tried to cheer him on. "Come on, X..." She smiled. "I k-know you can d-do it!"
However, Gelatin caught her attention. "...come outside"...Well that's not scary at all..." (Y/n) tensed. Flower tsked. "So whoever it is strong enough to break the roof...but-"
She started to approach the door. (Y/n) was quick to stop her. "W-Wait! D-Don't..." Flower glanced at her in confusion. "You don't want me to go outside?"
(Y/n) shook her head. Her face paled as she heard the familiar static again. Flower glanced at the door. "No one is gonna let you get hurt, (Y/n)." She said.
"I know you seem to be scared of whoever it is, but I'm not going to have a reaction of any sorts." Flower told her. Then, she went outside.
(Y/n) peeked out the door, shaking slightly. Just like she thought, it was the Announcer. Everyone quickly rushed out of the bus, excited.
However, (Y/n) stayed behind for a moment. She didn't notice X was beside her until he started to talk. "You seem really scared of him."
Letting out a quiet squeak, (Y/n) jolted. She glanced down at him. "O-Of who?" She asked. X glared at the gray box everyone had surrounded.
"Him." X said, grabbing her hand. He lead her outside the bus, standing protectively in front of her. Four took notice of this. He glanced at (Y/n).
Then, at the Announcer.
(Y/n)...
Announcer...
It finally clicked.
Four growled, picking up the gray box. "Now I understand...GET OUT!" He threw him across the sandy desert, and Leafy gasped. "Four! Cut that out!"
Glancing up, her eyes widened. "(Y/n), look out!" Tensing, (Y/n) felt something collide with her back, sending her into the soft sand below.
"Oh. Sorry." The familiar, robotic voice of the Announcer said, as she turned over on her back. "Ha. This seems familiar." He said, as her face burned bright with embarrassment.
Sitting up slightly, (Y/n) felt a cold hand brush against her face. "Hold on, you've got a bit of sand on your face." The Announcer told her.
Looking up, (Y/n) saw an odd mechanical hand sticking out from the top of his, what she assumed to be, head. He used his thumb to wipe off the dirt, gently cupping her face with the palm and other fingers.
For a moment, (Y/n) felt oddly at peace. Subconsciously, she leaned into his touch.
That was, until she heard several gasps.
Her eyes snapped open, and her face became an even darker shade of red. Everyone was staring at the two. Some had looks of confusion, but most were smiling.
Suddenly, the Announcer was knocked off of her. "Hey dork!" X said, surprising her. "Maybe stop trying to flirt with my best friend??" He huffed.
His angry look melted slightly, as he rubbed the back of his head. "Sorry for calling you a dork. I'm trying to sound forceful." He said, as the Announcer sat up.
"I don't see the problem here." He told X. "(Y/n) is only your best friend, right?" X nodded. "She isn't dating anyone?" X shook his head.
"Then why do you have such a problem with me flirting with her?" He asked. Four stepped over, lifting (Y/n) to her feet. "Because she's fragile!"
He pointed at the Announcer, sharp teeth visible as he growled. "I don't trust you! First you try to take the show, and now our best friend?!"
(Y/n) started to speak up. "W-Wait... Four." She said. He turned to look at her, confused. "U-Um...what if w-we let him be a co-co-co-host?"
She shrank back a bit. "Instead o-of f-fighting?" Four glared at the Announcer, and sighed. "Fine. But only because I know you hate it when I have to zap someone."
(Y/n) smiled, glancing at the Announcer. Four let go of her hand. "X and I have to get the next challenge and Cake-at-Stake ready." He told her.
Then, he handed her a small button. "Stay with the co-co-co-host, and press this if he gets out of hand." He pat her on the head. "I'll rush over faster than you can divide by zero."
With that, he left (Y/n) with the flirtatious metal box. "Thanks for helping me back there." He thanked her, scooting closer to her.
"You really are an angel." He said, before glancing behind her. "Hm. A little privacy would be nice." He said, as (Y/n) turned to find the objects staring at the two.
Some of them blushed, looking away muttering. "You know, I think I hear Four calling us." Gelatin said, grabbing Teardrop and Leafy's hands.
He dragged them along, Flower following behind soon after. Then, (Y/n) looked down at the Announcer. "Now then, where were we?"
"Right, I remember."
"Are you a rocket ship? Because you are out of this world.~"

(A/n): Here we go! Another request done.
I was a bit worried because I wasn't sure how well I'd be able to write the Announcer-
The Valentines Day special is still coming, I just have one more scene to write.
Either way, I hope you enjoyed reading this!
Thank you!!
