BFB Four x Denial!Reader (Waiting)

MAJOR CONTENT WARNING!!

Swear, BFB spoilers for 28, and lots of angst!!

X nervously frowned at his friend, who was leaning against a Four-shaped rock. They had a calm smile on their face, as the wind gently wooshed past them, rustling their outfit.

He approached them, touching their shoulder. "(Y/n)..." They looked up at him, and he flinched.

There were dark circles under their eyes.

"X! What's up?" They asked, as their usual sparkly aura seemed...duller than normal. "...Is there a reason you haven't gone to bed yet?" They smiled.

"I'm waiting for Four." They said, as X felt his stomach drop. The look on their face seemed so innocent...and that wasn't good. "He's the only one I haven't said goodnight to yet."

(Y/n)'s tone was genuine, and that scared X. While he may not have been the strongest in terms of emotion, he knew (Y/n) was weaker than him.

He didn't know what to do.

Gulping, he faked a smile, sitting beside them. "Well, I can't sleep, so I'll keep you company!" He said, patting their shoulder. They smiled, as he started to silently plan.

Eventually, he started to quietly hum their favorite song. (Y/n)'s head started to droop a bit, eventually, leaning on X's. He sighed in relief.

But that was just one problem solved.

"X...have you heard anything from him?" (Y/n) asked, as he recovered Leafy. "No...not since the last time you asked." They sighed, walking away.

Leafy was quick to follow. "(Y/n)..." She started to say, but they were too quick. "Where could he have gone?" She heard them ask out loud.

That was when Leafy realized...

(Y/n) didn't know Four was dead.

She turned to face X. "Why haven't you told them yet?" She asked, as X gave her a guilty look. "It's not as easy as it looks, Leafy!" He groaned in frustration.

"You don't know how fragile they are! Once they find out..." He covered his eyes.

"They are gonna snap."

(Y/n) kicked their feet, swinging slightly. They were sitting on the swing set, as Cake at Stake was going on. The announcer wanted them to be there...

But...they told him:

"I literally could give less of a f-"

It was the last episode, and Four still hadn't shown. They grit their teeth, turning up the volume of their phone. The music blasted from their headset.

(F/s) was playing so loud, they didn't notice Taco approaching them. "Hey..." Taco said, placing a hand on their shoulder. "Gah!"
(Y/n) screamed, yanking their headphones off.

They glared at Taco. "What?!" Quickly, they covered their mouth, giving her an apologetic look. "...I'm sorry." Taco sighed. "(Y/n)...I hate to be the one to tell you this."

She frowned.

"Four isn't coming back."

(Y/n) sat there for a minute. When 8 minutes had passed, with no visible expression change, or movement, Taco became concerned. "Should I get-"

A sickening crack made Taco jump.

They had tossed their headphones against the ground.

"That's a lie!" They angrily screamed, storming away. Taco chased after them. "Wait! Where are you-" Her eyes widened.

They were headed for the announcer.

"So with 2763 votes...oh. (Y/n) is here." He said, as everyone glanced at them. Some of the contestants visibly flinched, when they saw such a violent look on their face.

"Do you want to announce the winner?" The announcer asked, as clenched their fists. "No." They said. They ran towards him.

"I WANT TO ANNOUNCE THE LOSER!"

They punted him like a football, as he flew across the sky. Everyone gasped. "(Y/n)! Why would you do that?!" Balloony said, shaking his head slightly.

"How will we know who's out now?!" They tsked, whipping away from him. "He's a cockroach. He'll be back." They said, shocking everyone again as they left.

"Wow...What's their problem?" Blocky said, wincing slightly. "They're going through the stages of grief." Firey spoke up. "...Isn't that obvious?"

Taco sighed. "Does anyone wanna come with me? I need to get them to a therapist or something." Loser rose his hand. "I'll go."

The two went to follow them, but ended up witnessing an uncomfortable sight. (Y/n) was hunched over on the ground, swiping at the blue dirt.

"What will it take to get you out of there?!" They sobbed, punching the ground. "It's time to come back!!" Taco attempted to approach them, but Loser held his arm out.

"Let them get their anger out." He whispered. (Y/n) screamed in rage, punching the ground again. "FINE! IF THAT'S HOW YOU WANT TO BE, THEN FINE!"

They stood up, sniffling. "I'll just have to take it to the next level, do something you can't ignore!" Loser frowned slightly. "Okay, now we might have to intervene."

(Y/n) kicked the ground. "I'M GOING TO BE TWO'S CO-HOST!!" They screamed. Loser and Taco glanced at each other in confusion.

"OH BOY! I CAN'T WAIT! I'M LEAVING RIGHT NOW!!" They screamed, pausing afterwards. They started to walk away, glancing around.

They fell to their knees, hiding their face. "...any m-moment now..." They choked back a sob, sniffling. Taco approached them, a concerned look on her face.

"(Y/n)..." She started, as they sat there. "This should have..." They mumbled. "...brought h-him..." Taco pat their head. "...You are going to get help."

She said, pulling them to their feet. "You can't go on like this forever." They frowned. "He's going to come back!" She shook her head.

"No...No he isn't..."

(Y/n) held their umbrella, scrolling through their phone as a glare rested on their face. "Nope. Nope. Definitely fucking not." They tsked.

Their phone dinged, and they smiled slightly. Opening their messages, they were greeted by their friend group.

Two-e: Movie night?!?!

X-Force: Yeah! (Y/n) up for it tho?!

Rolling their eyes, they smirked, typing in their response.

(Y/n), me, gas station: Meh. Ye I guess.

X-Force: YESSSSS FINALLY YOU STICK-

Two-e: Stick?

X-Force: Stick in the mud...-<-

Two-e: Ohhh-

After that conversation, (Y/n) exited the app, glancing at the app they had been interrupted in.

The dumb dating app Match suggested they get.

Without hesitation, they deleted the app, scowling. "Dating is stupid." They tsked, walking away. The rain poured down, hitting their umbrella.

For a moment, they weren't filled with a burning numbness.

They even allowed themselves to smile a bit, enjoying the tranquil sound of the light thunder echoing in the sky. They almost didn't notice the footsteps behind them.

Panic wasn't even considered, as they sped up slightly. When they heard the footsteps get quicker, they whipped around. "Hey buddy-" Their eyes widened.

Umbrella hitting the floor, the rain soaked them. Everything slowed down, as their heartbeat echoed in their ears.

Four was standing behind them.

He smiled. "Long time no s- OW!" An umbrella hit hard into the side of his head, and he rubbed the spot it hit. "WHAT THE ACTUAL-" (Y/n) glared at him.

"EXCUSE ME?!" They tossed their umbrella to the side. "WHO THE LIVING FLUFF ARE YOU?!" They pointed at him, gritting their teeth.

X only allowed them to swear once a day.

"YOU ARE NOT WHO I THINK YOU ARE!" They hissed, as he nervously smiled. "(Y/n), I swear-" They clenched their hands into fists.

"Where have you been for the past five years?!" They yelled, glaring at him. "You... You..." Four frowned, staring down at them in concern.

Their angry look started to crack, as tears filled their eyes. Sniffling, their body shook. A slight sob was the only thing they could get out.

Four stretched his arms, signaling for them to lean in for a hug. They nearly knocked him over as they launched themselves into his arms.

"I-I hate...h-hate..." They sobbed. Four pat their head. "I know...I'm sorry..." He said. "You hate me." (Y/n) shook their head. "I don't."

He nodded. "I know..." (Y/n) finally stopped shaking. "...I was so scared..." They let out a dry laugh. "And just as I think I'm finally over you...you show back up."

They sniffled, smiling. "You jerk." Four glanced to the side. "I know. And I'm sorry." They grabbed his hand. "It's movie night, let's go."

Four gave them a look of confusion. "Movie night?" (Y/n) looked up at him. "Oh yeah. Every Friday night." They said.

"By the way, Two and X might try to kill you."

He gulped.

"I'm back. I brought boxed juice."

X smiled, grabbing the popcorn. "What's the occasion?" He asked, turning around. He frowned, dropping the bowl on the ground. He stared at Four blankly.

"...Let me get the bottled stuff."

Two popped his head out from his room. "Bottled juice? Are things gonna get..." he spotted Four, eyes widening. "crazy..." He glared at him.

"(Y/n)...who is that?" They smiled. "He's back." They said flatly. Two stepped out of his room. "I can see that..." He scoffed. (Y/n) held up a hand.

"Before anyone starts a fight, no. Don't." They said, crossing their arms. "Let's just have a normal, causal movie night, then we can explode."

They started to walk away, entering the kitchen. X stared at Four, a menacing smile on his face as he slowly rose a knife up. (Y/n) walked back in.

"No."

They took the knife.

"Don't kill him...yet."

Four nervously smiled.

What the hell happened while he was gone-

(A/n): Quick angsty oneshot while I'm writing the II speed dating oneshot!

I was so confused when Four sank into the ground-

And then everyone was like: "HES DEAD NO-"

Like-

No???

Hopefully-

I mean, he got multiplied and didn't die- So melting into the earth surely can't kill him-

Plus do you really think they'd kill off Four?

I mean- I do have a theory that the algebrailens are immortal beings...and it hasn't technically been proven wrong, so-

But yeah, I hope you enjoyed-

Thank youuu

The next one shot will be the II Speed Dating Special, once I get it done.

It already has about 4000+ words-
