Are you ready?

Hey, it's me, Grace, aka your author-nim. Thank you for clicking on this book and if you haven't read the first book, I suggest you read that before continue on here.

Again, thank you for clicking on this book :)

A lot of comments asked about Joon and wow, I didn't think you guys would really care for him, but I guess you guys do.

Let's flashback to when Joon and Emi meet after she comes back home.

~•~

Emi stood outside the front door with her hands gripping a gift basket.

Her heart raced as she waited for the door to open. It's been awhile since they last saw each other, so she felt some excitement.

She's always seen him more than a friend, but not in a romantic way. If that makes sense....Emi was never good with the title game.

It's confusing, yes, but the kiss was never spoken about again between the two. Almost like they both literally forgot about it.

Deep down, Joon knew he wasn't the one for Emi anyway.

The door clicks on the other side, making Emi's excitement grow.

The door opens and she was immediately greeted with a warm smile.

"Emi!" Joon's mother threw her arms around her.

"Hello!" Emi hugged her back with her free arm.

She pulls back and lets her inside the house.

Emi couldn't help, but notice how different everything seemed.

Different in the most amazing way ever.

Joon's mother looked like she gained weight and compared to how little she was back then, it was such a heartwarming thing to see. Her face seemed brighter too! So does her eyes and her skin. Her smile has always been the same no matter what. Warm and welcoming.

"I'd love to catch up with you, sweetie, but I have to run to work. We should make a plan for the weekend." Her busy hands grabbed her purse and her car keys.

"Uh, yes, of course." Emi lightly chuckles.

"Joon's in his room and there's food in the fridge if you're hungry." She quickly went over and caressed her cheek. "Oh, it's so good to see you again, dear."

"It was really good to see you too."

And out the door she goes.

What a glo-up, Emi thought.

Emi stares at the closed door with a proud smile. The feeling is too great for her to see someone you love became someone they've strived to be.

"I knew I heard your voice."

Emi spun around and sees Joon walking down the stairs with his hand messing with his hair.

"I'm sorry. Did I wake you?" Emi laughed.

He approached her with a head shake. "Yes, and it's not a problem."

He brings Emi into a tight hug.

"I missed you." He pulls away, but keeps his hands on her arms. "The last time we saw each other was before your friend came to take you to a party."

Emi nods with a feeling of nostalgia. "Yeah, that was awhile ago."

"Yeah...glad to see you back."

"Glad to be back!"

"Where have you been?"

"Uh, Japan."

"Japan?"

"It's a long.....story." Emi said as her cheeks started to betray her and turn a light shade of red.

"You're turning red. What happened?" His smile provoked her answer.

"It's a really long story!"

"Ok, then tell me what happened with you and Hoseok."

Emi's eyebrows raised. "You-"

"Come on, Emi. I'm not oblivious. I know you were with him. It's kinda obvious too."

Her shy smile turned into a forced one. "Yeah...Hoseok and I are....uh, dating now."

Emi always knew that Joon and Hoseok have never been on a good page. The times where Hoseok have been nice to him, which aren't a lot, are because she forced him to be.

It's been awhile, so she doesn't know where her and Joon stand, but she does know where Joon and Hoseok stand. She was a bit anxious to see his reaction.

But to her surprise, Joon hugged her.

"I'm happy for you. Really." He lets out a sigh. "Hoseok seems to care for you a lot."

"Yeah..."

He pulls away and points to her. "You still need to explain your journey in Japan. Sounds like a fun story."

"Oh, it...it's a weird one." She nervously laughs. "Anyway, I got a gift basket!"

She hands him the basket and he takes it with a head tilt.

"Thanks. What's in it?"

Emi shrugged. "Don't know. Hoseok picked it out and wanted me to deliver it. He also said to let you open it without me."

Joon just laughed. "That's a surprise."

A few minutes later, Emi had to go. Joon gave her another hug and watched her leave.

He looked at the gift basket that was waiting to be opened. Just the fact that Hoseok picked it out made Joon feel suspicious.

But who knows.

Joon takes off the plastic wrap and carefully rips the paper apart.

It was normal. An arrangement of different candies and snacks. The only thing different was a note on the bottom.

Joon picked it up and examined it.

It was a resume.

~•~

Joon got a job overseas. A great opportunity he couldn't pass up.

That was the way Hoseok wanted to apologize and make good of their bad start.

He really went above and beyond.

Now let's catch you up with Emi and Hoseok's relationship...

To sum up....

Hoseok and Emi have been together as "boyfriend and girlfriend" for exactly one year. After that, Hoseok proposed and now they were "husband and wife".

They had a private wedding with only a few friends. It happened so quickly, it seemed rather impulsive.

Whooo! Married! Isn't that what you all wanted? For them to get married? Blah blah blah, what a story.

I didn't bother to write all that because it'll be so boring and cliche. Trust me.

Buuuuuuuut, it didn't work out. 4 months in and their marriage came to a halt. They got divorced.

Emi decided this and Hoseok went along with it.

But hear her out before you start hating on her all over again.

Hoseok went back to work with his father and his father is even more strict than him. Hoseok was barely home, he barely had free time, and didn't make time at all for Emi.

She felt so pointless in the marriage.

Not only that, Hoseok's attitude didn't help either. He was controlling and possessive. His promise sank to the bottom of the ocean of lies.

Emi hated it....and she hated him.

They got married, divorced, and separated in the span of 2 and a half years.

Emi didn't tell her father. She knew it would only cause a lot more ruckus in her already stressful life.

Besides, it all seemed to happen too quickly. Almost like they weren't meant to be husband and wife.

Was this what you expected?

*

Emi's father is a workaholic too. He hasn't gotten his wealth back yet and he's determined to. He made a stupid mistake and he will own up to it and work hard to get it back...without any help with anyone else. It's what he was taught. It was how he got his money in the first place.

With that, Emi has been more independent. After separating from her ex husband, she has moved to a different house all by herself. Luckily, she's older and more experienced. She isn't blinded by the rich life anymore and is somewhat living a normal life.

But...her father still wanted to spoil her.

Surprise, surprise.

He feels so bad for putting his only daughter in such a bad position, so he gave Emi money to pay for her house, bills, and more.

Emi thought, "what".

Of course she did not want to accept it. That's her father money. How could she take it for her own use?

But she had no choice.

She also had to promise her father that she won't do anything to help him with money and that she will be safe in whatever she chooses to do.

"You can't work, cupcake. Work stresses you out and take a lot time away from living the life you want to live. I want you away from that, you understand?"

Again, she had no choice, but to nod her head and agree.

Such a conflicted situation again.

Emi loves her father to death and will do a lot for him! She wants to help him, she wants to earn money just for her father's own happiness.

But, she couldn't.

Her father has morals and she doesn't want to disobey him....but she felt a need to.

She wanted to help, but her father would disapprove within a second.

She had so little choices, almost none...but at the same time, she had so many.

Although, it may seem like she's alone in all of this, she's not.

Kim Namjoon, you remember him. The nice guy! The manly, but feminine guy?

Namjoon has been with Emi through thick and think within these years. He was like her big brother and they've gotten super close.

So, of course, Emi is very vocal about her problems to Namjoon. She tells him everything and Namjoon has the power to always know what to say back. Whether it's advice or just comforting words, it really gave him the title as "best big brother".

And if one friend isn't enough, Emi also had Jennie!

Remember her?

Emi hung out with Jennie whenever she wanted to do something girly and fun. Namjoon is great and all, but shopping for tampons and nail polish really isn't his thing.

Sighs.

Here are the questions, folks...

What's going to happen next?

Does it seem like Emi's life is going to be boring?

We'll see.

Enjoy, my dear readers ❤️
