You are in a place which you feel may be haunted. Describe the place, and your feelings & reactions.

Since I was a child, I was fascinated by the paranormal and would watch thriller shows with my parents. There is only one place that I feel may be haunted - the dorm house in a small village in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

When I was ten years old, our family went on a backpackers trip to Chiang Mai. They wanted me to experience things that were out of my comfort zone. Hence, our first lodging was a dorm house in the middle of one of the villages. When I first saw the old and rundown dorm house, the best way I could describe it was that the building was dilapidated. It was an industrialized building and the 'Welcome' sign kept flickering. I felt very uncomfortable as I had never stayed in a sharehouse before and seeing the condition it was in made me feel uncertain. As soon as we walked through the doors with our belongings, my eyes went straight to the walls. The paint on the walls were peeling and it had multiple cracks across the hallways.

Suddenly, as I was scrutinizing my surroundings, a child bumped into me. I widened my eyes in surprise and took a step back, trying not to fall. I looked towards the child and she laughed as she ran away into one of the rooms in the hallway.

"What's wrong?" the receptionist asked.

"Oh, it's nothing. A girl bumped into me and I lost my footing."

"There was no one though? Anyway, glad you are fine dear."

Before the receptionist finished his sentence, I felt a chill go down my spine and I froze. The receptionist saw no one and I clearly saw the girl! This was no longer about the fact that someone bumped into me but that there was nobody. I started to panic now and felt really scared. I quickly went to my father and recounted the incident. However, my father brushed it off saying that I was probably too tired and was seeing things. I was adamant about what I had experience but pushed the thoughts out of my head. Soon, I fell soundly asleep.

The next morning, we had breakfast in the common area. I sat at the table to secure my family's seats and waited for my parents to bring the food back. Completely forgetting about last night's incident, I felt chirpier and well rested, thanks to the comfy bed. It was definitely the silver lining of my eventful night. As I scanned the common area for my parents, I noticed a girl staring back at me. Rubbing my eyes in disbelief, I recognized her as the one who bumped into me last night.

It was her doll-like features and checkered dress that I vividly remembered. As I observed her further, I saw that she had slanted eyes and parting lips. In addition, despite her silky black hair being in two ponytails at the sides of her head, her face still looked pretty small.

'Is this place haunted? Was I the only person who could see her?' I thought to myself.

Under the intense gaze of the girl, my hands started feeling clammy and beads of sweat started to form on my forehead. Her uncanny eyes were silent and still but it made me cower in fear. The realisation that I was alone dawned on me and I did not like that. I was lost in my thoughts when my parents returned to the table with plates full of food.

"Mummy! I saw her again. She's there!"

I pointed at her and my parents looked in that direction quizzically.

"I don't see anyone there, Jane."

Indeed, she was gone. Vanished into thin air without any trace yet again. I was terrified now. This was my second time and I was certain I saw her. There was no mistake. Without realising, the dam burst and I started bawling my eyes out. My parents did not believe me and I was genuinely petrified. My parents were shocked and tried to comfort me. Hearing the commotion, everyone in the common room started turning their heads towards me to see what was going on.

At that moment, one of the other family's mother also noticed the scene I was making. She passed her child some candy and told him to share some with me. When the boy approached me, I was surprised by the offer and started to calm down. After that, the boy and I went off to play at the indoor children playground.

Whilst I was doing so my parents explained the situation to the other family. After hearing my experience, the other family started to share their experience their son had as well. It seemed that there were multiple sightings of this child in a checkered dress who liked to play with the children who came to the dorm.

Thankfully, we stayed there for a few nights. Subsequently, I never saw the "child" again. Till this day, I am convinced that the dorm house was most likely haunted.
