Chapter 4: Days Of An Assassin Part 2.

*Next Day*

3rd Pov.

Within the next day, Taurite and Tatsumi were tasked to be under the surveillance of Mine.

At this very moment, Taurite would be found with Akame in the kitchen, trying his best to help her out and gain some new experience.

New experience as in trying to just eat all sorts of food.

"Here, try it."

Akame passes Taurite a small sample which is just a mere broth from a soup she is preparing.

Taurite takes a small sip of the broth.

"Hmm... Possibly needs a little spice to it.. It tastes just fine, but I think there should be more to it."

"Thank you for your response."

Akame says as she proceeds to prepare more and make a few adjustments.

While doing so, Taurite observes Akame; watching every move she does.

Soon-.

"Can I ask you a question?"

Hearing Akame interrupted Taurite's observation.

"What is it?"

He waits.

"What were those markings I saw on your arms?"

Akame refers to the time where Taurite took off his shirt and was examined for any injuries.

Taurite rolls up his sleeve to see the marks on his arm.

"Do you recall what I said about my original form?"

"I believe so."

Akame responds.

"Well, I'll have you know, those missing pieces I'm looking for are portions of my powers."

Akame continues on with her cooking.

"Powers which also help me reestablish a connection with my original form."

Taurite says before having to fix his sleeve.

"However, the process is quite slow and I don't gain very much from it."

"I see."

After that, there was nothing else for the two to say to each other.

"Is that all you wanted to-?"

*BOOM*

A loud explosion was heard within the hideout.

"Was that-?"

"Mine."

Akame says.

"Thought so.. Forgot I have been tasked to be under the surveillance of Mine."

Taurite sighs.

"I'm sure you'll be fine."

"I know that, but I'm more worried about Tatsumi.."

"Oh."

*Capital*

Within the towns of the Capital, Mine would be sighted as she is leading both Tatsumi and Taurite.

As the three walked around, Tatsumi couldn't help but see the expressions of the people.

All covered with fear, anxiety and anguish.

"Having a look around.. The Capital I once admired..."

Tatsumi was filled with sympathy.

"... There sure are a lot of glum-looking people here."

"That's mainly because of the economic slump and frightening government."

Mine said.

"If I may question this.. Is it wise for us, especially you, to be walking around in broad daylight like this?"

Taurite asks though knowing that he and Tatsumi are only new while Mine is considered a "Professional" and should be noticed by others.

"Yeah.. Well."

Mine points towards a board that consists of wanted criminals.

Thus including Night Raid as well, obviously.

"The only ones they should be able to recognize are those four."

Tatsumi looks and recognizes only Akame, the Boss and Sheele.

"Hm?"

However, there was someone else that he wasn't really familiar with.

"Who's that guy in the middle?/Isn't that-?"

"Bulat."

"HUUH?!"

"He changed his image after he joined Night Raid."

"That's a bit much for a change..."

Taurite thought to himself.

"World's worst before and after."

Said Tatsumi.

"So... Since we can walk around just fine, we have a job to do here."

"Hey, that sounds good to me! That's why you brought us, isn't it?"

"Yes! Now let's start our municipal census!"

"I don't really get it, but okay?"

"I'm starting to have a strange feeling about this..."

Taurite thought.

To start off with the "Job", Mine brings Tatsumi and Taurite to a bakery shop where Mine decides to buy a pastry for herself while the other two merely drink.

Next, Mine shops for clothes.

She would be seen looking through bras and panties.

Tatsumi was getting himself distracted by looking at them.

Taurite on the other hand, had no issue whatsoever.

Soon, Mine hits the next shop to where she would start trying on some clothes and ask Taurite and Tatsumi for their preference.

Only to eventually come across a certain dress that Mine was intrigued by to which she couldn't help but try it on and purchase it.

In the end, despite the whole "Job" being all about shopping around, the three finally took a break near an outdoor café.

They all ordered drinks for themselves.

"Phew! I sure bought a lot."

Next to their table were stacks of Mine's belongings.

"Pink clothes really stand out best in the spring."

She said.

"Yep."

Tatsumi was drained.

"It's important to go on a spree when you're off working."

Mine states.

"As in having to live your fragile to it's fullest."

Taurite said.

"Exactly."

Mine nods as she takes a sip from her drink.

"Too true..."

Tatsumi murmurs.

"Okay...! Mission complete!"

Mine beams..

"WHAT!? ALL WE DID WAS GO SHOPPING-!!!"

*Slap*

"How haughty."

Mine slaps Tatsumi across the face to the point that he literally falls off his chair and is on the ground.

"Sorry Tatsumi... But I'd rather not be a part of this."

Taurite minded his own business and did nothing.

"I'm on top and you're on the bottom!"

Mine steps upon Tatsumi as a way to assert dominance.

"Underlings don't talk back!"

"Gwaah!"

Therefore, Mine starts stomping on Tatsumi.

"You may only be the package carrier, but you should be grateful for that!"

She shouts.

"Why can't you just be quiet and humble like Taurite here?!"

"Please don't let me be involved with this..."

"You think you're my superior!? It's only a temporary thing!"

Tatsumi shouts back.

"Don't underestimate the authority of your superior, rookie!"

Said Mine.

"For example..."

All of a sudden, Mine pulls out a giant roulette board out of nowhere.

"I CAN SEND YOU INTO ANOTHER MANGA USING THIS ROULETTE BOARD!!!"

"WHAAAAAT!?"

"Are we going off script or is this what the manga intended to do...?"

Taurite felt concerned.

"There's also 'Hatsukiai,' which I thought you might like."

"I'd be too scared of missing it! Make the pie slice for the moe genres bigger!"

"Oh good lord..."

Taurite sighs.

"... Sheesh.."

Eventually, a large gathering was found near their exact location.

"Hey, what's with all the commotion..?"

Tatsumi asks.

"It's a public execution of people who have defied the Empire."

Taurite replies as he gets up from his seat.

"It's quite a common thing to see in the Capital."

Taurite continues.

From their viewpoint, they saw a good amount of people pinned against a wooden cross.

Many of them lost a limb or two while some were merely bleeding out to death yet there were also those who lost their heads.

"It's cruel, isn't it?"

Mine asks.

"How... How cruel..."

Tatsumi thought.

"The one who's fine with doing things like that is the Minister."

Mine mentions.

"He's a shrewd man who used a struggle for succession to prevail over the young emperor."

She continues.

"I... Will never be like that.."

Taurite began hearing Mine's thoughts and sensed her determination to make the world better.

"I swear to survive... And be on the winning side!"

After finally having enough to witness the cruelty of the Empire and the suffering of the people, the three gathered their belongings (Mainly Mine) and made their exit.

"The Minister, huh...?"

Within Tatsumi's tracks, he stopped and turned around towards the palace's direction.

"What kind of man is he?"

*Palace: Throne room*
(Same exact time as Mine, Tatsumi and Taurite leave)

"Domestic Affairs Official Shoi."

Within the throne room, the young emperor was seated on his throne while six officials were standing upon the sidelines as one official was kneeling down.

"You have criticized my policies and are charged with delaying government duties. Therefore, you are sentenced to dismemberment by rampaging bulls."

When hearing that from the young emperor, Shoi flinched along with the other six officials.

"That should do, right, Minister?"

Slowly, a large and chubby man appeared from the shadows of the throne.

"Heheheh.. Impressive."

Once making his full appearance, he was seen eating a piece of cooked meat.

"You are a wise ruler indeed, your majesty."

Said the Minister.

"Meat again? You're always eating that."

"Heheheh. Got to take advantage of it while it's still fresh."

The Minister laughs.

"YOU'RE BEING FOOLED BY THE MINISTER, YOUR MAJESTY!!"

Finally, Shoi speaks.

"PLEASE! LEND AN EAR TO THE VOICES OF YOUR PEOPLE!!!"

He demanded.

"Minister, did you not hear what he said about you?"

The young emperor asks.

"Why yes. Clearly, he's obviously lost his mind."

"Yes! And of course, you've never said anything wrong before!"

When hearing that, Shoi was stunned.

Therefore, Shoi was slammed by two guards.

"Sir Shoi.."

The Minister starts stepping down towards Shoi.

"What a sad goodbye.."

"YOUR MAJESTY!!! AT THIS RATE, THE EMPIRE'S ONE THOUSAND YEAR HISTORY WILL ALL BE FOR NOUGHT!!"

Finally, the Minister kneels before the official.

"Sir Shoi..."

He calls out his name.

"Please don't worry about leaving that beautiful wife of yours. I will take good care of her in your place.. In every possible way...Hehehehe..."

And with that Shoi started getting dragged away by the two guards that hit him.

"H... He..."

The Minister waves at him with an evil grin.

"HE CAN'T GET AWAY WITH THIS!!!"

*Nearing the Prison cells*

Nearing the way towards the prison cells, Shoi was cuffed for his so-called 'crimes.'

Once finally arriving at the door to the prison cells, one of the guards reached for a key until-.

*Slash*

All the sudden, the two guards that were supposed to take Shoi away were instantly killed within a second.

"W... What the?!"

Before realizing anything, Shoi's cuffs are broken as well.

Out of pure shock, he fell down with his back against a wall.

"What just happened!?"

He asked himself.

"You are safe now."

Out of nowhere, a strange figure with a strange anonymous mask appeared before Shoi.

"Can you stand?"

The stranger's voice was masculine.

He offers a hand to Shoi.

Shoi said nothing and nervously took the stranger's hand.

Then-.

*Voom*

When Shoi took the stranger's hand, his presence was brought within an empty church.

"How did you-!?"

"No questions asked."

The stranger cuts him off

"You will reunite with your wife soon."

Said the stranger.

"W-why did you save me?"

Shoi asks.

"I know what you did to help the Revolutionary Army by delaying those hidden government affairs."

Hearing that made Shoi flinch.

"I've requested acquaintances of mine to retrieve you and your wife and bring you to a safe location far from the Capital's reach."

The stranger puts his hand on Shoi's shoulder.

"Whatever you need, the Revolutionary Army will provide."

He said.

"Stay safe."

With that, the stranger suddenly disappeared.

*Night Raid*

Back in Night Raid's hideout, everyone was gathered in the meeting room.

"Good work on helping out Sir Shoi, you three."

The boss congratulates Mine, Tatsumi and Taurite.

"No problem!"

Tatsumi exclaims as Taurite and Mine nod.

"With his help, we can prevent any more corruption from spreading."

The boss said.

"In any way, let's move onto today's official assignment."

Everyone waits.

"The target we are assigned to kill is a distant relative of the Minister. His name is Iokai."

The boss continues on by saying-.

"Using the Minister's name, he kidnaps young women from the Capital and beats them to death, only to have at least five of his soldiers who guard him get the last leftovers.. In terms of that, they are also guilty.

Everyone nods.

"This is an important mission. So everyone is on it!"

*Outside of Iokai's Estate*

After the announcement to where Night Raid is tasked on assassinating Iokai, everyone were on their way into position.

The mission will consist of two teams.

One will deal with Iokai's forces while the other will be secured in a clear position that will lead to an opportunity.

Of course that teaming being Mine, since she's the only one that carries a long ranged weapon.

Right now, at this very moment, Mine is paired up with Tatsumi and Taurite.

The two of them are tasked to protect Mine.

"So that's the estate Iokai lives in.. Security sure looks tight."

Tatsumi looks through his binoculars and sees the estate up ahead.

"I do wonder if my Chao Reach could reach that far..."

Taurite thought to himself.

"I can reach pretty easily from this distance.. I'll blow his head off the moment he leaves his room."

"Right and me and Taurite's job is to guard you after you fire the shot."

Tatsumi prepares himself.

"You can count on me!"

He said.

"Hmph. I'm not really counting on it though."

Mine scoffs.

After that, Mine readies her weapon.

Then, a concentrated aura began surrounding her.

Tatsumi began getting chills because of it.

"Wow, she's so focused... I can feel her resolution even from here."

"It's quite impressive, I'd say."

Taurite said to Tatsumi.

"Also, he's out now."

"Uh- Where? Where?"

Tatsumi starts looking through the binoculars once again.

Only to finally see Iokai make an appearance.

From the looks of it, Iokai was surrounded by many women.

"Ah... But there's also a ton of non-targets with him!"

Tatsumi informs.

"So?"

"So?! How are you even supposed to shoot him!?"

Tatsumi asks.

"I'm pretty sure that's not the case, Tatsumi. Surely enough you shouldn't doubt Mine. Obviously she's done this far more than you."

"Don't tell me... You'd kill even innocent-."

*THOOM*

Before Tatsumi could even finish his sentence, Mine already fires a beam towards her target

And as the beam travels towards Iokai-.

*BLAAAAM*

"I'll have you know... I'm a genius at shooting."

*Somewhere*

After Iokai's assassination, his guards scattered outside the estate to find the one who shot him down.

"No matter what, find the assassin!"

"If he gets away, the Minister will kill us!!"

"He couldn't have gotten that far..."

As they pressed on, they were stopped by five individuals.

"There you are."

It was Night Raid. Mainly, Akame, Leone, Sheele, Bulat and Lubbock.

"Now then.. Let's get started here!"

*Back with Mine, Tatsumi and Taurite*

"Ugh!"

Back with Mine, Tatsumi and Taurite, they were making their way back to rendezvous with the rest of Night Raid.

"This route is so hard to walk through.."

Mine complains.

"You think our pursuers are all dead now?"

Tatsumi asks.

"Doubt so.. Most of the guards at the estate are said to be trained at the temple of the Imperial Fist. Meaning that they might not be that easy to hold off."

Taurite responds.

"You mean the number one kung fu temple in the Empire."

"Yes."

Taurite nods.

"I guess when you're related to the Minister, your guards are pretty badass."

Tatsumi jokes.

"And the fact that he could do whatever he wants thanks to his blood ties really pisses me off so much."

Mine says as she is helped by Taurite who assists her climbing up a steep hill.

".. I wonder what happened to her in her past..."

Tatsumi pondered.

"I'll make a special allowance to you two and let you hear about my past."

"That's a bit sudden for me/she's volunteering it herself!"

Both Tatsumi and Taurite thought at the same time.

"To start off, I came from near the western border of the nation. And if you can't tell, I'm a half tribal.

Mine starts off.

"In town, I was completely ostracized.. Nobody wouldn't accept me as their own."

She continues.

"It was a wretched childhood."

Taurite felt her anger.

"But.. The Revolutionary Army is allied with the tribes to the west.. And when we make the new nation, diplomatic relations will open so more people will be of mixed blood and there won't be anymore children that will have to suffer like I did..."

Mine tightens her grip on her weapon.

"I'll never let anyone be discriminated against..!!"

"Mine..."

Tatsumi murmurs.

"After that, I'll render distinguished service with the Revolution and receive a ton of compensation money so I can live like a celebrity!"

"Well that just ruined the mood..."

*Back to Akame and everyone else*

"Aaaah... I feel so refreshed!"

Leone exclaims after landing a finishing blow on one of Iokai's guards.

"They were pretty strong!"

Said Sheele.

"It's strange... There were supposed to be five guards..."

Akame sheaths her sword.

"Man, I didn't even get to kill a single one of them."

Lubbock barks.

"That's because there weren't enough."

Bulat points out.

"I know, Lubbo! We'll split the reward half and half!"

Leone suggests.

"I'M SORRY WHAT!!?"

Lubbock shouts.

While the four were beginning to mess around with each other, Akame was thinking about something.

Then, she realized what was strange to her to the point that a gust of wind blew at the same time.

"Taurite...."

*Back to Mine, Tatsumi and Taurite*

Finally, the three eventually arrived at the rendezvous point where they were supposed to meet up with the rest of the team.

"They should be here right about now."

Mine says.

"I suppose our task here is done."

Said Taurite.

"It's not all done till the report!"

Tatsumi exclaims.

"Hmph. You just taking that from Miss Perfect Akame?"

Out of nowhere-.

"LOOK OUT!"

*BASH*

Suddenly, Taurite pushed Tatsumi and Mine out of the way as a result of getting bashed in the liver and pushed back.

Luckily, Taurite was still standing on both of his feet.

"Tch.."

For once Taurite felt serious pain due to his new body's limitations and never knew how fatal a liver shot can be.

"Taurite!"

Tatsumi shouts.

However, Taurite lets out his arm, signaling Tatsumi to not move away from Mine.

"Heh.. Not bad if I'd say so."

"You..."

Taurite's body slowly began to heal on its own.

"You're Shihandai, aren't you? The former Martial Artist at the temple of the Imperial Fist."

He asks.

"Oh how my reputation precedes me."

Shihandai smirks.

"Just what I'd expect from a well-known assistant instructor ten years ago. Shame.. I hear you lost your status because of that cruel and sadistic personality of yours."

Taurite says.

"I only got expelled because of bad behavior and that's it!"

Shihandai lunges towards Taurite, attempting to finish him off while thinking he was heavily wounded because of the liver shot.

Only to be anticipated by a full frontal from Taurite.

"It still counts as the same."

Taurite blocks Shihandai's punch and goes in for a hit.

Shihandai slightly blocks Taurite's attack and moves back to create distance.

"Once I'm through with you, I'll go after those two have delivered your heads to the Minister!"

Then, the two charges towards each other clash their fists together.

Taurite would try to land consecutive hits, but would miss due to his bodies' limitation and the idea that Shihandai was much faster.

As a result, Taurite leaps back in order to create distance since he found a way to finish his fight.

"Don't you dare back away from me!"

Before Taurite could even catch his breath, Shihandai suddenly appeared in front of him.

"!"

While thinking Taurite was cut off guard, Shihandai launches-.

*Voom*

Suddenly, Taurite disappeared into void light.

Only to reappear and bash his fist against the side of Shihandai's jaw and temples, causing him to slightly move back and feel an enormous amount of trauma.

"HOW DARE-!?"

Again, Taurite disappears once more before reappearing again and lands two consecutive hits on Shihandai.

"Guh... Ah!"

One for the ribs and one for the abdomen.

Shihandai began wobbling.

"Now that about wraps it up.."

Taurite murmurs.

"Though, if I may ask..."

Shihandai looks at Taurite despite having to feel so much sensation through his head and pain through his chest.

"Do you believe in gravity?"

"Wha-?!"

Right as Shihandai could even respond back, Taurite uppercuts him directly under his chin, causing him to slightly ascend into the air.

"This will only need one last punch..."

Taurite ends it by pressing his palm exactly against the center of Shihandai's chest.

After that, he binds his palm with void energy.

When doing so-.

*BOOM*

Taurite blasted Shihandai's whole body into pieces and mere fragments of them started to disperse into thin air due to the void effects.

Taurite turns to Tatsumi and Mine.

"You two alright?"

He asks.

However, there was no response from them.

Literally, Tatsumi and Mine couldn't think of anything after witnessing at least a good amount of Taurite's capabilities.

Both of them had their mouths dropped.

"Did I overdo it or something? Thought I showed off a good amount.."

*Somewhere in the Capital*

Within the dark and quiet towns of the Capital, two Imperial soldiers were scouting around, still trying to find the ones who assassinated Ogre the Demon.

"Find the culprits who killed Master Ogre no matter what!"

One soldier said with determination to his comrade.

"UNDERSTOOD!"

The other soldier nodded in response.

Eventually, a man was standing in the darkness of the alleyway, looking at a wanted poster of what it appears to be Akame.

"Just like me... They're assassins.. Who uses Teigus..."

The man grins.

Soon, one of the two soldiers saw the man standing there in the alleyway.

"HEY, YOU OVER THERE!"

The soldier drew out his sidearm while the other took out his sword.

"YOU LOOK SUSPICIOUS! DON'T MOVE FROM THERE!"

The man then looked behind him and saw the two guards.

Then-.

*Slash*

Suddenly, the man instantly beheaded the two soldier's heads off within a blink of an eye.

"...H... Uh...."

The two soldier's bodies collapsed.

"Either way..."

An evil grin formed on the man's face.

"The Capital seems to be incredibly easy to navigate... There's just no shortage of people I can kill...

The man makes his way out of the darkness of the alleyway.

"How delightful..."
