Backstory: El and her brother were raised by their mom until they were 10, their dad just wasn't there. when they were 10 there was a robbery in the store down the street, and their mom died. After that, they were left alone, with just each other. They were sent from one foster home to the next for the next several years. When they were 15 it finally became impossible to find them a home together, so they were sent to separate homes, and she hasn't seen her brother since.

Other: she was finally adopted when she was 16, but she never really accepted her new parents. She lived afraid they would send her away too until she grew up and moved out. They still try to keep in contact with her, but she isn't close to them at all.
