She wears the usual Demon Slayer uniform similar to Shinobu's and a plain yellow haori with hood.

P E R S O N A L I T Y
Hikari is a quiet individual that tends to keep to herself. If she speaks, she is honest to a fault, even coming off as blunt or overcritical at times. Even so, outside of the detached exterior, she is a gentle young woman that seeks nothing but the safety of her loved ones.
Due to her religious upbringing, she also often spends her time in the shrine doing sacred practices. She claims to find that meditating is the best way to calm her down and regain her focus.
Although fairly level-headed, Hikari does act impulsively sometimes. This is encouraged by her straightforward and decisive attitude.
When it comes to children, Hikari's walls just breaks down. She would be that protective, caring older sister that will always try to keep them happy. She can even tolerate the brattiest of brats (*cough*Inosuke*cough).

(warning : contains slight spoiler and it's very long that you might want to skip it)
Hikari lived with her parents in a temple. She was raised in a very religious family as they often spend their time by devoting themselves to the Gods by praying and meditating. Even young Hikari had grown accustomed to the habit although she preferred playing over praying at that time. They lived in peace and harmony, just like any ordinary family does.
However, she was aware that her parents would always leave their futons in the middle of the night to visit the back of the temple. They would pray in front of her grandfather's grave and brought offerings that seemed to increase in quantity over the time. Her parents believed that the spirit of the grandfather was still around, mostly due to their experience after encountering the spirit several times around the temple. The grandfather claimed to refuse to succumb to the afterlife from an unclear cause. Because of this, Hikari's parents always begged to the spirit for forgiveness and constantly questioned about what he really desired from the world of the living.
When Hikari turned four, her family was blessed with another child. But, after her mother came back from, supposedly a midwife's house far from theirs, she claimed that the delivery process had failed. Thus, the baby did not survive. Hikari was grieved at the loss.
The same incident happens every year- until Hikari turned seven. Her family suffered great grief over yet another child (the third to be stillborn). Hikari was heavily concerned but was too naive to have her suspicions toward the unfortunate routine. She was also awfully upset when her mother told her that she couldn't try to give her a sibling anymore- meaning that the mother ended up being sterile. Still, young and clueless, Hikari fussed over it more than she should have sympathized with her mother.
One night, Hikari woke up on the back of her father. Her mother was walking beside them. They were headed to a foreign temple quite far from theirs. Whenever Hikari would ask where they were going, her mother would only respond with the gentlest smile, "We're visiting a friend." and simply left it at that.
Once they arrived at the temple, they were greeted by a bunch of children. Hikari later learned that the blind young man who ran the temple was called Himejima Gyoumei. He was the son of a good friend of her father's- as priests.
The night fell. Hikari and the other children were asleep. Her parents talked to Gyoumei about their situation: that the so-called spirit of Hikari's grandfather was actually a shape-shifting demon that took the form of the grandfather to trick the parents into offering him newborn babies. And now that the mother cannot produce any more children, Hikari would have to be the next to offer. Fearing the worst, the parents decided to entrust Hikari in Gyoumei's care. Despite being blind and quite young, the fact that he'd managed to raise a few children in the temple by his own convinced the parents enough. Besides, his temple was the closest and the most capable of fending off demons, despite being vulnerable to it. It was easy for her parents to trust him.
After leaving a farewell note and a shakuhachi as a memento (which Hikari later gives to Gyoumei as a gift), the parents departed and she has never heard of them ever since. Even Gyoumei refuses to tell her about her parents' whereabouts. But it's not because he's being secretive. Rather, it was because he doesn't know how they were doing himself. He had always tried to comfort Hikari though, by saying "What matters is that you're safe now."
During the time that the demon attack occurred, eleven years old Hikari, as one of the eldest children at that time, was in town selling resources to help provide for the family. However, when she came back in the morning, the bodies of her siblings were sprawled dead. Her eyes could only focus on the bloodied Gyoumei and a trembling, scared-to-death Sayo in the corner of the room. Both confused and infuriated, she completely tuned out the young man's explanation until people came over to check on what had happened at the temple.
Hikari became one of the reasons why Gyoumei got imprisoned. But unlike Sayo, she didn't give any false implications that Gyoumei was the one who killed the children. She abstained from pointing fingers and suspecting. But her vague testimony was taken into consideration and ended up sending Gyoumei to jail anyway.
Harboring heavy guilt for her immature actions, she reached out to Gyoumei two years after mustering up her courage. After finding out that he had joined the Demon Slayer Corps and became a pillar in the span of two months, she plead for atonement by becoming his successor. Although incapable of taking after his breath style, she developed a new one of her own to adjust to her build and field of expertise. Climbing her way up to the ranks slowly but surely, she became a pillar four years later, without even having to take Gyoumei's place due to the vacancy of pillar positions at the time.

Natural abilities
‣ Master Swordsman - Being a Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps, Hikari is one of the most powerful and skilled swordsmen in the entire organization.
‣ Immense Speed - Hikari's agility is remarkable. Her display of swift attacks and evasion reflects how fast light can travel.
‣ Enhanced Endurance - Not much in physique, but she has quite a robust mental fortitude due to her strong religious beliefs.
‣ Tetrachromat - A rare occurrence where a person is born with four cone cells in the eyes. This allows her to experience a range of colors invisible to ordinary humans. Due to this, Hikari is capable of predicting movements with ease. This goes almost to the point that she is alleged to be able to see seconds into the future, often linked to her sporadic show of spiritual tendencies in public.
‣ Demon Slayer Mark - Her mark appeared during her battle with Kaigaku as she encountered Zenitsu during the Dimensional Infinity Fortress Arc. The mark takes shape of two yellow rhombi starting just above her eye and ends below, the shape resembling a sparkle of light.
Swordsmanship
Unique weapon : Its appearance is similar to a normal katana. However, the blade is made of unbreakable glass due to the protective film coating it. Her katana is modified so she can bolster her fighting technique by taking advantage of the moonlight during battles. It improves her performance greatly as a swordswoman. But she's a frequent visitor to her regular blacksmith since she has to keep her sword sharp and serviceable at all times.
Breath of Light (光 の 呼吸) (7 forms)
‣ First form : Fatal Flash (命取り 閃光)
Hikari angles her blade to momentarily blind the opponent before cutting them down.
‣ Second form : Cleave of Luminescence (発光 の 割る)
Hikari advances swiftly to deliver a clean slash across the target.
‣ Third form : Refraction Wave (屈折 の 波)
Hikari moves in an indiscernible motion as she swings the sword in a sudden, broken-like motion. This style is often used to target multiple enemies at once.
‣ Fourth form : A Million Whispering Light (百万 の ささやく 光)
She rapidly thrusts her sword into the opponent multiple times to incapacitate them before going for the neck.
‣ Fifth form : Kaleidoscope (万華鏡)
A move where she creates an illusion by manipulating the light and multiplies herself to confuse the enemy.
‣ Sixth form : The Gentle Glint at Dawn (夜明け の 優しな 輝き)
A kind of attack to finish the opponent in one blow with a single, painless cut.
‣ Final form : Pure Bliss (純粋な 至福)
She goes into a state of full focus that sharpens her senses, especially her vision. In this form, she incorporates three of her first forms to attack her enemy in a consecutive manner.
T R I V I A
‣ Her name Hikari (光) literally translates to the word 'light'.
‣ She likes all types of cooked carrots. It helps sharpen her vision.
‣ She has this complex attitude towards Zenitsu and Inosuke. She extremely cares for them just like she does about other children. But at the same time, she couldn't help but get exasperated at their obnoxiousness.
‣ Her blacksmith often scolds her for often breaking her blade. Knowing how fragile it is than the normal katana, he expects Hikari to be more 'delicate' with it.
‣ In the pillar training arc, she trains in the field of battle composure and serenity. Her post is right before Obanai's.
