The Skywalker Clan, Part 3

Anakin had three people who used his comm outside of the order. Obi-Wan, Padme, and Ahsoka. So when it wasn't any of their comm numbers showing up, he was skeptical, trying to think of whoever else would have it. Finally biting the bullet, he picked up.

"Skywalker," He spoke, assuming it was someone from the order.

A voice came through the other end with only a slight hint of interference. "Anakin, it's Nyx," He spoke clearly and confidently.

"Nyx, good to hear from you. What's going on?"

"I wanted to know if we could meet up, you, Obi-Wan and I. I have something to ask you about." Anakin raised his eyebrow to no one in particular, exiting his own room in the temple to go find Obi-Wan.

"Sure, I have Obi-Wan right here if you want me to talk to him. When are you free?"

"I'm pretty free this week, anytime after seven when I close up shop. If you want to get back to me with a time we can do that."

"Sounds good. Bye Nyx."

With that, Anakin knocked. Metal on metal, a sure sign to tell someone who was entering. He opened the door himself when he heard a faint, "Come in."

"Obi-Wan, Nyx just called me," He started. The master stood from his spot on the couch to greet his former apprentice as he continued speaking. "Wants to meet with both of us."

Obi-Wan went to stroke his beard in thought. "Hm. Well what did you tell him?"

"Well, yes of course, he said he's free after seven anytime this week. I told him I'd ask you and get back with an answer."

"No reason to keep him waiting then." Obi-Wan smirked and pointed to the clock on his wall reading 7:21.

Nyx waited patiently behind the counter, fidgeting with a stray bolt as he watched the door for two incoming Jedi. Finally, the shop door opened with a ringing bell.

"Hey Nyx," Anakin spoke. Obi-Wan gave a curt nod to greet him.

"Thank you guys so much for coming down here so quickly," He greeted as he walked out from behind the counter.

"What was it you wanted to talk about?" Obi-Wan asked. Nyx lead them over to the back door as he spoke, opening it into his apartment.

"Well... Oh gosh this is hard. Okay," He started, pulling a box out from the pocket in his cargo pants. And sitting down on the sofa, the two Jedi copying. "I know Ahsoka doesn't know her real parents, but I still wanted to get both of your blessings before asking her to... to marry me." He breathed out a sigh and handed the black box to Anakin who happened to be closer.

Both Anakin and Obi-Wan's eyes went wide, and smiles even wider as they studied the box. "Can I?" Anakin asked. Nyx nodded, and Anakin flipped the cover open in response.

With a noise of admiration, Anakin showed the ring to Obi-Wan. A silver band with a small moonstone gem in the middle, beautiful but still simple and sturdy enough that she wouldn't have to worry about it getting damaged.

"Well I don't know about Anakin, but you absolutely have my blessing Nyx. She'll be delighted," Obi-Wan spoke in response to the awkward silence that had fallen. Anakin still hadn't spoken, but finally closed the box and moved to side hug his future (sort of) brother-in-law instead.

"Same goes here." He didn't speak much for fear of letting a tear fall, ever emotional. "This is... Amazing Nyx."

He just smiled in response, taking the ring back and examining it. "I actually was going to ask you first but I saw this ring a couple days ago... I just knew it was perfect."

"It is, I know Ahsoka will love it. It's perfect for her," Anakin responded after the initial fear of crying had left him. "When are you gonna ask?"

Nyx chuckled slightly. "Haven't figured that part out yet. I don't have any ideas whatsoever."

"Well, knowing Ahsoka you probably don't want to do anything big," Obi-Wan offered. "Just the two of you, maybe in a place she loves."

"Ya, Snips isn't really the... Extravagant type," Anakin joked. "You'll figure something out. Just let us know when you do, we're happy to help in any way we can."

========

Somehow, Jedi and all, Ahsoka wasn't suspicious. He had offered a date on a night a week later, dinner at a cafe they had favored over the past two years of being together, and she thought nothing of it. After dinner Nyx suggested going for a walk. It was a beautiful night, not too cold, and nearby was a park with some of the only organic vegetation left on Coruscant.

A few streetlights were enough light for the two of them to find their way to a bench by a large fountain where they sat talking.

"I forget how beautiful Coruscant can be," Ahsoka said in a low, almost whisper as she wrapped her arm around his middle and snuggled closer to share in the warmth. "Growing up here and all, I guess I never really thought about it."

Nyx hummed. "Me neither."

"It's crazy how much everything has changed in the past couple years. Five years ago we were in a war, and now we're here."

"It's humbling. We're pretty lucky, ya know. I'm pretty lucky, that's for sure, having found someone like you," He said as he wrapped his own arm around her.

Ahsoka chuckled. "I am too. I guess it's good that we have each other."

Nyx decided to reach his free arm into his pocket, his heartbeat slowly increasing as he tried to be subtle. He just had to keep reminding himself that she really is going to say yes. That I wouldn't be asking if I didn't know she'd say yes.

"'Soka?" He asked. She hummed in response. "You know I love you, right?"

She nuzzled her face into his chest. "Of course, and I love you too."

"Then can I ask you something?" She nodded, looking towards him, only tilting her chin slightly upwards. He gripped the box in one hand, took a small breath, and held it out towards her, open. "Will you marry me?"

Ahsoka sat shocked for a moment, a smile forming on her lips. She nodded and gave a small laugh. "Yes, oh gosh Nyx, yes," She spoke. She wrapped her arms around his neck, nuzzling her head in his chest again.

Her newly announced fiancé placed a small kiss in the valley between her montrals as she hugged him, quickly being replaced with a gentle kiss to her lips. When they pulled away a few moments later, Nyx was still holding the opened box. He gently took the ring from it's place among the velvet creases of the box and slipped it onto Ahsoka's finger.

"It's perfect," She whispered. "You're, perfect." There they sat in silence for another few minutes, just enjoying each other's presence in the dimly lit park, staring at the few stars shining through the lights of the city.

When Nyx left Ahsoka on the steps of the temple, she didn't walk inside, only grabbed her comm and hit Padme's number.

"Ahsoka!" She said merrily, as if she knew something just went down. "What has you calling?"

She had a feeling Padme knew. "Are the twins asleep yet?" She asked, already knowing that they would be at ten o'clock at night.

"They are."

"Can I come over for a little while?" Ahsoka shivered in the ever growing colder air, suddenly regretting not going inside.

"Of course you can, do you want me to get the guest room ready?" Padme asked knowingly.

She thought about it, biting a nail. "Actually, ya, if you don't mind. I'm sorry it's late."

"It's no problem Ahsoka. You're always welcome to crash. I'll see you in a little while."

========

Ahsoka knocked lightly, praying she didn't wake the kids up, and entered. Padme was sitting on the couch in what looked to be sleep shorts and one of her husband's t-shirts, Anakin sitting beside her, both of them reading on their respective holo-pads. It looked like they had stayed up to greet Ahsoka despite wanting to go to bed.

"Hey guys, sorry if I'm keeping you up," She said with a small smile as she entered.

"You're not keeping anyone up Ahsoka, it's perfectly fine. Here, come sit with us," Padme offered. She complied, plopping herself on the couch in the space the two of them had made for her. She played with her hands in her lap for a moment, spinning the ring in it's place. Instead of talking she just held her hand out to Padme.

She gaped at the sight of the delicate piece of jewelry now sitting on her ring finger before pulling Ahsoka into a bone crushing hug. She would have squealed has she not had sleeping children in the other room.

"I'm so happy for you!" She cried, still in a normal tone. "So, how did he do it?" Padme asked as Anakin caught her in a hug next.

Anakin chuckled at his wife's enthusiasm and Ahsoka's calm manner, but let the girl speak. "We went on a walk to this little park. It was really beautiful, it was so simple and meaningful." She smiled at the recent memory.

"Let me see the ring again, I never got to see it," Padme said. Ahsoka held her hand out as she spoke.

"So you knew?"

"Anakin told me."

"Wait, you knew before her?" She questioned Anakin this time in a slightly more shocked voice.

"Of course I knew, Nyx asked for my blessing!" He said with a chuckle. "Me and Obi-Wan that is. Called us about a week ago and said he wanted to meet up."

Ahsoka grinned as she lifted her legs into a crossed position on the sofa. "You know, I never suspected anything. It's kinda crazy, I always thought I'd figure it out, but I was completely oblivious."

"I guess that means he did something right then," Anakin replied. "You really had no idea?"

"I didn't know anything until he asked me."

"Wow, honestly I'm impressed, the guy was nothing but nerves when we were talking about it." Ahsoka hit him jokingly.

"Hey, it's cute," She responded. After a few beats of silence she spoke up again. "Dude, I'm getting married," She said as if she had just realized it.

"That's kind of the point of getting engaged, Snips," Anakin joked. Ahsoka responded with a glare and a laugh. "I'm so happy for you, you know that? Nyx is perfect for you."

She snuggled into his side with a small purr, something that he had quickly found out Togrutas did after she became his Padawan. This time it was Padme who spoke up. "When you first told us you two were dating we talked about this happening. It's like we always knew,"

"Look at you, miss fortune teller," Anakin joked to his wife. "She's right though, we did predict it."

"How humble of you." Ahsoka chuckled and yawned, Anakin following suit.

"Sounds like we could all use some sleep. I've got the guest bed made up," Padme told her. Ahsoka nodded.

"Thank you guys for letting me crash."

"Anytime, Ahsoka."
