Chapter 3
(Still in high school)
You call your mother, While Ed calls his, his parents are on vacation for the week, they said all too quickly that he could go. Your mother says all too quickly that Ed can come to dinner. Your social status is no secret. You both head back to your house, your mother practically ripped the door off its hinges to let you both in. You handle the introductions. Your mother looks at Ed for a few seconds and asked what happend. "Attempted murder from a school bully." Ed replies awkwardly, while you both blush. "If your daughter hadn't been there, I'd be dead." He replied with an awkard expression. Your mother looked at you, with wide eyes, as Ed told her what happened. "This is Tyler your talking about?" She asked. You had told her about when he beat up the PE teacher a few weeks ago so she had had an idea of what he was like for some time. "Yes." You said blushing slightly. Your mother and father had seen Tyler at the last few parent teacher meetings, he was 6 feet tall with more muscles than a body builder, and no one wanted to get on his bad side. And you had taken him down in less than a minute.
AN: There may be things from my life in this story.
Your mother announced that dinner was ready. You set the table as she turned off the stove. You sat Ed next to you then your father walked in and sat down, you introduced Ed. Your father looked curiously at the dark bruises running down from Ed's jaw the darkest ones placing themselves on his neck. He asked Ed where they came from, your mother asked you quietly to go and put away your chickens. "I'll be back as soon as I can." You whispered into his ear. You scooted out of your seat as Ed told your father how the bruises got there. You bolted the very second you closed the door, quickly rounding up the stragglers and shoving them inside, uttering hundreds of apologies as you shut up the doors. Still running you went into the coop you got all their eggs and said goodnight. You ran and leapt up to the house door trying to calm yourself slightly before heading inside. You set the eggs on the counter and sat by Ed again. Your father gives you a strange look. Your mother invites Ed to stay the night, and quickly adds that he can stay in your room. When you are done eating you show Ed to your room. He looks around speechless. You turn the color of a ripe tomatoe and stare at your feet. Your mother walks by eyeing you both strangely. One tomatoe and one ghost she thinks as she walks by. You are nearly crying, you had completely forgotten about the drawings, they covered your walls almost completely. To you they were normal, to Ed you imagined they would be pretty weird. He set down his backpack and looked at you, feeling instant regret for staring so long. You were now leaning on your doorway. He started to apologize over and over. He pulled you to him and hugged you. "Ed, it isn't your fault I should have said something." "(Y/n) I didn't mean to offend you in any way, I was just surprised, I think that they are really cool." "Thanks Ed." You said. Then he broke your embrace by reaching into his backpack and pulling out, your classes' science homework. You smiled and pulled yours out too. You both did your homework for a while. Then comes bedtime you tell Ed he is sleeping in your bed. He argues with you a bit, then you confess that you don't sleep, at all. He asks what you do instead. "I put pillows under the blankets so it looks like I'm sleeping, and then I read under my desk or walk around outside until my alarm clock goes off." "Oh." He says surprised. "What time do you "wake up" then?" You tell him five am. "Me too, except I sleep first." He replied.
"Thanks for what you did earlier, by the way." He says awkwardly. "It wasn't anything Ed, really." He takes your hand softly, and puts it on his neck on the darkest part of the bruise. It's really warm, your heart drops. Then he moves it to his shoulder. You can feel it too by looking at it, you can feel them both. You look at each other sadly. "I wish I could have gotten to you sooner." You say. "No,no,no, you had no idea, and anyone else would have turned away and ignored it." He say with a frown. You hug again and say good night.
