Victim.18

Confessions.

Bryce stumbled forward with his cat close to his chest. The sound of fire roaring echoed along with the sound of wood snapping. "Bryce!" Someone called but his hearing was fading and his vision was blurring on him yet he realized who it was. "Ryan?" He whispered weakly, using his free hand to reach out. Suddenly his legs gave out and everything around him faded into darkness.

Ryan caught the blonde just as he was about to hit the ground and watched the cat scatter from his hold. He stared at the blonde in his arms with worried eyes. "Oh Bryce come on," he whispered to himself as he slapped the blondes face. "Shit. No no no, come on Bryce. Breathe! Come on damn it!" The sound of sirens screamed in the background but he held on firmly to the blonde and didn't let go. His body trembling with fear and anger. "SOMEONE CALL AN AMBULANCE!"

"Come on come on!" A woman yelled as she loaded him into the back. Ryan watched as they loaded the blonde up then took off down the street, he felt something rub up against his leg. When he looked down he was met with Bryce's cat. "Hey there.."

The cat meowed in response and he picked it up.

Ryan ran a hand down the cats fur as he stared off to where the ambulance had just left. Ignoring the sound of a car pulling up behind him. "Ryan?" He glanced back to see Smitty getting out of the car. "What happened?! Why is his house on fire?" The said male just looked back to where they took Bryce. "She tried to kill him Smit..she almost did."

Hospital...

"Bryce? Bryce.." The sound of his mother calling him echoed soothingly. His blue eyes opened and locked with hers which caused her to give a small smile. The happiest he's ever seen her since the death of his younger brother. "Oh thank God.."

Bryce stared for a moment then looked down at her hand which held his. "Mom? What're you doing here?" His question made her give a raised brow and bite her lip. "You know, no matter what you're still my son Bryce. I love and support you no matter what.." She whispered. "No one is perfect. Even God knows this my child. He loves you for you." Bryce knew his mother had found out about him being gay..

But he was glad to hear her say that.

"Son." She paused. "The church wishes you to come by tomorrow okay? We will be able to thank God you lived together.."

He stayed silent for a moment. The sound of his heart beat filling the room as his mother looked into his blue eyes with a small smile on her lips. "When?" The blonde sighed. "It'll be late. I don't really know why but they would love to see you again okay?" Part of his mother's words scared him. The church missed him? Surely not.

But Bryce being himself agreed to his mother's request who seemed overjoyed with his response. Bryce was in no mood to smile or even talk in that small moment. He had almost died and here his mother was inviting him to church after knowing he was gay..

Something wasn't right.

"Miss McQuaid," came a voice. The woman turned to the door and seen a man dressed in a large brown trench coat, his hazel eyes staring at her. "My names Detective Wrecker. I need a moment with your son if that's okay." She gave a small nod before kissing her sons hand and turning to leave. Wrecker listened to the door close and let silence fill the room as his eyes stared into those blue ones.

"Bryce I'm glad you're okay.." His voice cracked as he took a seat where the man's mother once sat. His hazel eyes stared down at the floor as a sigh escaped his lips. "I honestly was scared for a se-"

"Just ask me your questions Ryan.."

Ryan looked up at the blonde who was laying back with his head sunken into the white pillow. His golden locks slightly covering one beautiful eye. "Um, right." He coughed. "Bryce do you remember what happened? Have any clue what could've started the fire?"

"Brock.."

Ryan nearly choked at that name for he knew the said male was no longer living. A knot formed in his stomach but he pressed on, "Brock? Bryce that's impossible.." The blonde didn't tear his gaze from the ceiling as he sat in silence. "Then I remember waking up to fire. Flames roaring and snapping at me when I tried to escape..but.." Bryce paused and looked to Ryan. "Through all of it I remember the letter N written on my wall.."

Ryan couldn't believe his ears but then he remembered what he had seen and looked up to the male. "Bryce there's something you need to know." "Yes?" "Brian was found dead before I came to see you..I managed to catch onto what was happening...now, Eva has been reported missing.."

Silence.

The sound of the blondes heart beat echoed through it like a scream as the lights shined down on the two men. A small sent of medicine washed over Ryan as he looked to the table then back. Finally, the blonde responded, "I know.." His response shocked Ryan.

"How?" He asked, eyeing the blonde boy in front of him. Bryce shifted a little as he tried to sink further into his pillow. "Cause that's what was written on the wall..along with a verse from.." He paused and Ryan knew exactly what he was going to say. His hand gripped Bryce's firmly, causing the blonde to look at him.

"Bryce," his whisper nearly reached the blondes ear. "I'm here for you okay? I know we started off at the wrong foot but..I'm really sorry.."

Bryce smiled at Ryan before squeezing his hand, "I know Wrecker. I know you are.."
