PROLOGUE.

the only thing the girl hated more than herself was the immense loneliness that constantly enveloped her.

so, upon seeing the number neighbor trend appear on her timeline, she impulsively participated. she wasn't sure who she was expecting, but it wasn't the grumpy, well-spoken teenager who replied.

perhaps it was their obvious contrast in characters that kindled their unlikely friendship. she was this bubbly girl pretending that the cruelty of the world didn't tear her apart, and he was this brooding boy who took his effortless life for granted.

they were exactly what the other needed but could never have.
