2: Rumours

Here's a little video showing Caiden's side of everything Tell me what you guys think!

The bright morning sun pushed it's way through my blinds.

I flung my legs over the side of my bed and walked over to the other side of my room. As I opened my blinds, I had to squint at the sudden light.

I noticed, through the window, Caiden's jeep. The vehicle 's perfect, and smooth paint job gleamed. The perfectly clear windows shined like diamonds.

The keys sat next to my phone on my dresser.

I reached for my phone. I opened snapchat and scrolled down until I found the cartoon version of Caiden. Tapping on the cartoon I started typing up my address, and told him the keys would be in the vehicle. I hit send, and set my phone back down.

I opened my closet door and walked in.

Scanning the colourful array of clothes I carefully selected white ripped jeans and a grey cropped hoodie.

I quickly changed and scooped my phone and the car keys off my dresser.

I hopped down the stairs and slid on my pink converse. One of the only pair of shoes I owned that weren't dirty.

"Where are you going?" A voice demanded from behind me.

I spun around to come face to face with my big brother, Case.

"I just headed to The Diner. Ayla, Kade, Kassie, and I are gonna grab some brunch. Wanna come?" I offered.

I only offered because I wanted to sound like I wanted him to come. When in reality he really did get on my nerves all to often.

"Can't, I have a lecture at ten. Who's car is in the driveway?" He continued to interrogate me.

I rolled my eyes and raised a brow at him.

"I drove this kid from school home from a party last night because he was drunk. Then I drove home. I texted him the address and left the keys in the car." I sigh.

It was nice having an overprotective brother, but sometimes Case drove me crazy. He did have a right to know why someone else's car was in our driveway, but sometimes his questions got absurd. He didn't need to know everything in my life. Especially why I came home late from my boyfriend's house when we were dating.

"Okay," he said hesitantly. "Have fun."

"I will." I smiled and skipped out the door.

He seemed annoyed with me. And that made me happy.

Unlocking the doors to my Mercedes-Benz C-Class. I slid int to the smooth leather seats.

Jamming my keys into the ignition, I listened to the car rumble to life.

I loved this car with my whole being. I got if for my sixteenth birthday, and I was so excited.

I remember my whole family walking into my room holding a a pink birthday cake. After I had blown out the candles my dad handed me the keys. I had ran down the stairs so fast I almost tripped on my own feet. The car sat in the driveway with an oversized, baby-pink, bow on the hood. It's shiny silver pain gleaming in the sun.

Half of me had expected the gift though. Case also got a car when he turned sixteen.

That probably made me seem spoiled, the fact that I was expecting to get a car for my birthday. But it was no secret to me nor my friends that my parents were well off.

Although most of the people at my school are from wealthy families. I don't got to a private school or anything but it's hard to live here in Angel Woods without money.

I held my hands on the smooth steering-wheel, at ten and two. I lightly pushed my foot down on the gas and pulled out of my long driveway.

My One Direction CD blasted through the vehicle.

The same CD I always kept in Case's car when I was younger. Ayla, Kassie and I used to get him to play it when he drove us to the mall, home from cheer practice, or to football games.

He claimed he hated listening to the band, but every now and then, I would catch him mouthing the words.

About twenty minutes later I maneuvered into a small parking space near the front of the old-fashioned building.

As I swung open the glass entrance doors, it seemed like a majority of the conversations that were going on, stopped. I felt eyes trained on me.

I tried shaking off the feeling, having people stare at me wasn't a feeling I was all that used to.

I began approaching my friends. They were seated on the red bar stools at the counter.

All, the high school kids hung out at the Diner. Everyone seemed to love retro vibe it had. Not to mention there was laser tag, and a rec-center.

"Hey." I smiled, seating myself next to Kassie.

They all smiled at me.

"You dipped pretty early last night," Kade mentioned from the end of our line. "What was that all about?"

"Oh," I said realizing I had forgot to tell them when I left, where I was going. "I drove Caiden Cummings home, he was too drunk to drive." I shrugged reaching for a menu that was stacked up with a bunch of others next to the napkin holder.

"So that's what actually happened." Ayla spoke up, as she zoned out, staring at the ceiling.

"What are you talking about?" I looked up from the laminated paper in my hands.

"Well," Kassie drew out the word and held on to my hand in hers. "People saw you guys leave together last night, and, well, people are talking."

"What are they saying?" I tightened my grip on the small girl's hands.

I was pretty sure I already knew the answer to my question though.

"Well," Kade ran a hand through his caramel hair. " People are saying you guys hooked up, some are even saying that you guys fucked in his car. And Bridgette seems pissed."

He was referring to the girl that was always following Caiden around like a lost puppy. They weren't exactly dating, more so fuck buddies.

She was absolutely gorgeous, with her black, wavy hair, green eyes, pale skin, and freckles.
I don't understand why people think Caiden and I hooked up when he could have her whenever he wanted. Besides she was way prettier than I was. If I were Caiden I'd have picked her over me for sure.

"What does she care? It's not like they're dating. Besides we didn't actually do anything." I stated, more confidently.

"Exactly. It's nothing to worry about." Ayla reassured me, smiling as the others nodded.

"Yeah," I breathed out, releasing the grip I held on Kassie's hand. "Should we order?"

They nodded, and Kade waved over a waitress.

She walked over to us and pulled her notepad and pen out of her ruffly apron.

"Can I start y'all out with some drinks?" The middle-aged woman asked.

"Um, yeah, can I just get coffee with milk and sugar?" I requested.

"Of course sweetheart." She then directed her gaze at Kassie to my right.

"I'll take just black coffee."

"Can I get some apple juice?" Ayla smiled downwards at the countertop.

She seemed slightly embarrassed at her more childish drink choice.

Kade chuckled next to her. "Black coffee please." He said.

"Okay, I'll be right back folks." She walked away.

"So, what are you guys getting?" Ayla questioned, obviously over her embarrassment.

"Is that even a question?" Kade raised a brow sceptically.

"Hey," Ayla's hands shot up, defensively. "I was just trying to be nice."

"Yeah but we already know what everyone is gonna order, it's the same thing every time. Lyn and I get French toast, Kassie gets bacon and scrambled eggs, and you get chocolate chip pancakes. It's the same. Every. Single. Time." Kade explained, laughing lightly when Ayla bowed her head sheepishly.

"Well excuse her for trying to be nice." Kassie scoffed.

As they continued to bicker the waitress brought our drinks and I ordered for all of us.

That's the one downfall of having both siblings in our friend group.

Taking a small sip from my steaming mug, I felt a sharp tap of my shoulder.

Turning around I came face to face with the black haired girl.

"Why did you and Caiden leave the party together?" She demanded, crossing her arms over her chest.

Here we go.

I never really had anything against Bridgette, she hadn't done anything to me specifically.

Until now that is. But still I can understand why she feels like she needs an explanation.

So I gave her one.

"He was too drunk to drive himself home, so I gave him a ride." I shrugged, sipping more coffee.

"I don't believe you." She countered.

"Well that's what happened, ask him if you really want to." I turned around back to my friends.

I heard her huff and storm away.

I didn't hate Bridgette, but she wasn't my favorite person ever.

We finished our brunch uninterrupted. And as usual our conversations subsided as we shoved our faces with food. And it was some pretty damn good tasting food.

After paying our bill we all bid goodbye and headed home.

As I pulled in to the driveway I noticed Case's car still in the driveway.

Shouldn't he be at his lecture?

I walked inside and saw my whole family sitting at the dinner table.

Case turned to face me, his face blank and emotionless. My mother's face had mascara tear stains, and her golden blonde hair was a little messy. And my father had his lips pressed in a thin, grim line.

"Ashlyn, sweetheart, we need to talk." My dad spoke softly.

A/N:
Sorry for the cliffhanger, but please don't be mad. What do you all think of Bridgette? How about Case? Do you think he's a little to overprotective? What do you think Ashlyn's dad wants to talk about? I'd love to hear your guesses. Thanks for reading.
