19: Dreams
"You're just so gorgeous." He smiled stepping closer to me.
His hand pushed a piece of my hair behind my ear. I put my hands on his toned chest, and leaned towards him. His hand held my face as he leaned in to place our lips together.
"Caiden." I breathed just before our lips made contact.
My eyes shot open.
My alarm clock blared in my ears. I slammed the snooze button.
My breathing was heavy as I stared up at my ceiling.
Did I just dream about kissing Caiden?
I swear I'm going crazy.
This boy is always on my mind, even when I'm sleeping.
If I end up in an insane asylum because of him, I won't be happy.
I flung myself out of my bed and opened my closet.
Yanking down a pair of Levis and a low cut, blush pink, shirt. I paired it with a white bralette, and my checkered Vans.
I left my hair down and did my makeup a little more minimal than normal.
I really wanted to get downstairs. I wanted to see Caiden before he finished breakfast.
Like usual he sat at the island, on his phone, eating toast.
"Morning." I hummed.
"Hey," he looked up at me as I opened the fridge. "You look good today."
My cheeks flared red.
"Thanks." I replied, a little quietly.
I pulled out a yogurt and set it on the granite counter.
I could feel his grey eyes on me as I got the granola and a spoon.
He didn't bother looking away when I turned back around.
After a few seconds he looked back at whatever was on his phone.
But it didn't seem to interest him too much, he finished his food and put his plate in the dishwasher.
"Want a ride to school today?" He asked, as he was about to leave the room.
"Uh yeah, sure." I could feel the tips of my ears heating up.
"Cool." He smiled before running down the stairs.
That smile.
That breath taking smile.
It killed me and gave me life at the same time.
It made the butterflies in my stomach flutter.
I finished getting ready and headed out to Caiden's car.
He was already waiting.
I opened the passenger door and climbed in, tossing my bags in the back with his.
"Wanna be the DJ?" He held out the aux cord to me.
"Sure, you might regret it though." I replied, plugging my phone in.
"I'm sure I won't."
"So," I said as we pulled out of the crowded driveway. "Why are you giving me a ride?"
"My dad mentioned that it'd be better in gas if we just car pooled. And we both have practice after school, so we get home at the same time anyway." He explained, keeping his eyes glued on the freeway ahead of us.
"Oh." I nodded, shuffling one of my playlists.
I was sorta disappointed that he hadn't come up with the idea himself. But it was a good idea. I just wondered if we'd be taking his car to school everyday or if we'd take mine too.
His car was pretty nice, I mean it was a Hummer H3 after all, but I like my car better.
The next song cued up.
Quarter Past Midnight by Bastille.
Instantly I got flash backs from the night I drove Caiden home when he was drunk. Weird that my brain would associated this song with that event. It came on the radio when I was driving home and I barley payed attention to it.
"Caiden?"
"Yeah?"
"Never mind."
"What is it?"
"It's nothing."
"Okay then."
I almost asked him about the kiss.
It's been plaguing my thoughts since it happened.
But he obviously didn't remember it. Or he would've said something earlier.
The short rest of the ride was silence.
Not uncomfortable silence. But it wasn't comfortable either.
"Thanks." I smiled exiting the vehicle with my bags.
He just nodded in response.
I approached the entrance of the huge building along with everyone else in the crowd.
I walked in to the large foyer and headed for my locker.
I shoved my stuff in it and found Ayla, Kade, and Kassie all in the main floor lounge.
"You didn't tell me Caiden kissed you, but you told her?" Was the first thing said when I sat down with them. "I'm obviously better at giving advice than Kassie is. Or Kade for that matter."
"Sorry Ay, but Kass just showed up when I was at work and I told her." I apologized.
"Wait Caiden kissed you?" Kade raised his brows and stared at me.
"Yeah, he did. But he was drunk, and I don't think even remembers." I stated.
"Ooh that's rough." He muttered.
"What do you mean?" I coked my head to the side.
"Well he kissed you and he doesn't even remember. Must suck." Kade sympathized.
"Well I didn't want him to kiss me anyway. So I'm not all that upset."I lied.
"Yeah suuuure." Kassie muttered.
"What you got something to say?" I asked, in a sorta joking manner.
"I'm sure you didn't want him to kiss you and that you're not upset."
"I'm not. Now can we please talk about something else?"
They ignored my request.
"Maybe he likes you." Ayla sang. "Caiden and Ashlyn siting in a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g."
"Would you please shut up?" I pleaded.
But then they all started singing.
I shoved my head in my hands and groaned.
I love my friends but sometimes they're the worst.
"I hate you guys." I stated flatly.
"But you don't hate Caiden." Ayla taunted. "Why don't you just walk up and grab his face and kiss him. He probably wants to kiss you back."
"Not everyone is as forward as you are." Kassie told her.
"Thank you." I sigh.
"But she should still do it." Kassie continued.
"No. I'm not gonna kiss Caiden again. Ever."
