"Are you sure?" The Violet Queen asked as she paced in front of the thrones in the throne room.

"No, but she's the best shot we have," Prince Salvatore of the Elven world replied.

Queen Violet paused from her pacing and turned to face him, her usually-emotionless face cracking into sadness, "If it's not her, I ... I don't know what I'll do." Her voice started to get choked up.

"Hey," Salvatore rushed up to her, and tilted her head so that she would look at the green eyes that belonged to the tall, dark-haired elf, "We will find her. I love her as much as you do - if not more, and I will do anything and everything I can to find her."

Violet just nodded and pressed her head against his chest, not trusting herself to speak in case she started to cry.

"Fourteen years," Violet muttered quietly, a tear slipping from her own emerald green eyes, "She's been gone for fourteen years."

"And it won't be longer," Salvatore promised, hoping he could keep it.

Somewhere, out there, was Violet's older sister, the most powerful witch ever known, and there is a race to find her. The Renegades and the Witches, looking for The Red Queen.
