"Let me get this straight," Amy says, wanting to make sure she has the correct details. "You want me to kiss your boyfriend . . . just so you could see if he'd actually cheat on you?"

Lacey nodded, making her short, black, crimped hair bob along, her eyebrows slightly furrowed. "I know it sounds crazy—"

"Uh . . . yeah," Amy agrees, suspecting this is some sort of joke.

"—but, I honestly think that he doesn't want to be with me anymore, and . . . ," Amy can see tears starting to well up in Lacey's dark eyes.

Amy sighs, knowing how emotional Lacey gets. "Alright, fine," she reluctantly agrees. "I'll do it. But . . . what if he kisses back?"

She wipes her eyes and inhales deeply. "I . . . don't know. I didn't plan that far ahead."

Amy raises her eyebrow, about to question her friend's plan-making skills, but decides to soften up when she sees her eyes starting to well up again. She places a gentle hand on Lacey's shoulders and gives her a tight, but genuine, smile. "Let's hope it doesn't come to that, okay?"

Lacey nods and doesn't resist when Amy pulls her into a hug. Amy smiles in an attempt to not chuckle at how totally whipped her friend is about her boyfriend.
