Chapter 2: Dormitories
Russia walked with the herd of her schoolmates, looking at the paper that had been Put into her hands, as it had been with everyone else. Her dormitory was in the Europe sector, even though she was more an Asian country, than a European one. But she supposed it was to keep her and her siblings mostly together. But that meant she wouldn't be close to North, or even allowed to visit.
"19-Ag… 19-Ag,” Russia muttered, her eyes flicking up to the plaques on the doors. The students all had filed into different sections. The sections were: Middle East (14), Africa (15), Oceania (16), Americas (17), Asia (18), and Europe (19).
“See you in class!” Russia had called to North as they were separated from each other. He responded with a simple “see you later.”
“Oh! My apologies!” Russia stumbled backwards slightly as she bumped into someone, or someone bumped into her.
“No no, it's okay,” Russia said, dropping down to pick up the stuff that was dropped, not even noticing who she had bumped into. She stood up, handing the fellow student their stuff.
“Ah- thanks,” The blue, horned half-snake-half-human student said. “I-I'm Nagira, a Messenger.”
Nagira had short, fluffy hair that started as a relatively light abyss-blue and then around where the pale lavender snowflake clip in her hair was, formed a gradient towards an icy blue. Two jagged horns poked up from about where one would consider the end of the strands in bangs, causing the hair to move around it like water would an obstruction. She also had a headband-like tiara of spiked navy crystals.
Her eyes were kind of large, the irises being a pale gray with cornflower blue suit pupils. From the waist down, Nagira had the body of a long, sleek dark dusty blue snake with the under scales being a dark bluish-blurple. From the waist up she was a human with pale blue skin. She wore a crop-top that was a light blurple with periwinkle buttons. She was also wearing a fang necklace that had a bluish-white fang.
Russia smiled. “My name's Russia, and I'm quite obviously a countryhuman.”
Nagira's eyes seemed to light up immensely when Russia introduced herself and smiled. “That's amazing! I-I don't know how to feel though…”
Russia shrugged, still smiling. “Well, consider it to be a good thing, Nagira,” She tilted her head to the side slightly. “What dorm are you?”
Nagira glanced at the piece of paper in her hand, before saying: “19-Ag.”
Russia blinked, shifting back a tiny bit in amazement. “That's my dorm too!”
Nagira's eyes widened, a small sparkle forming. She seemed quite excited, and then seemed to remember something, as the sparkles faded. “Y-you don't mind shaking a room with a M-Messenger, yeah..?” She stammered, seeming quite scared of what Russia's answer might be.
Russia simply said, “As long as you aren't annoying like some Americans, I'm sure you'll be fine.” She wanted Nagira to feel comfortable, as something in the back of her mind told her that she would be a good companion.
Nagira nodded, her shoulders relaxing. This pushed a thought into Russia's mind, asking: Are Messengers discriminated against? Or is there something else going on?
“Let's walk to our dorm,” Russia said, smiling. Nagira nodded, perking up a little bit more.
This is a good way to start a friendship. Russia thought, smiling warmly as she walked with Nagira to their dorm.
