Ok, lets face it - Snape is like marmite. You either love him or you despise him. He's probably the most grey area HP character there is, and there are some good reasons for that. On one hand, he was a dick to Harry, Ron and Hermione and definitely had some favouritism issues. On the other hand, he was really brave and risked his life for 'the cause'.
