The first time either of them confirms their actual feelings, he's bleeding profusely and she's sobbing uncontrollably.

It had been a rough time period. After Lexa had died, all of the clans had been thrown into a tailspin. And then the City of Light had taken over the clans: most people had swallowed the chip in order to rid themselves of pain, no longer wanting to suffer. But Eden had refused and Roan had no interest, so they were among the only people who hadn't been transported to the alternate reality world where nothing ever went wrong and pain didn't exist. Instead, she was working with some of the delinquents to shut down the City of Light.

Roan's alliance with them came easily, as he and Eden had their relationship [or whatever it was] and he and Clarke had often come to agreement in what to do. So when he tied up Clarke and Eden followed them into Polis, letting everyone else go into the tunnel to cover them, they expected to easily get through to use Ontari to their benefit. But instead, Thelonius Jaha had intercepted, having been the first to enter the City of Light. Maybe it was partly her presence that had thrown off the balance and clued in the people in the City of Light to the true nature of Roan's goals, but she suspected it was even more than that.

She had stood silently alongside Clarke and Roan, letting Roan negotiate with her former Chancellor. But then he revealed that they were aware of the alliance between Roan and the small group of Sky people still fighting the invasion, shocking all three of them. She tensed, letting a hand grip his elbow as Jaha told them that their friends in the tunnel weren't safe, that none of them were safe. Roan then pulled Clarke to the front of his body, a knife pressed to her throat as she stood there, gagged and bound.

"We need her alive," Jaha said, his voice deep, as if ignoring Eden's presence.

It shocked her when Roan let go of Clarke, letting the knife drop from her throat before pushing the both of them away from the crowd surrounding them.

"Run!" he shouted, following them.

But once they got through, her father was standing there, his gun raised and pointed at them. The three of them froze, Roan slightly ahead of them.

"But we don't need you," Marcus said to Roan.

Then he fired his gun and the bullet hit it's target, causing them to fall to the ground. A loud scream filled Eden's ears and it took her a moment to realize that it was her, she was the one screaming like a banshee as Roan laid on the ground in front of her, bleeding out onto the concrete. She took a break from screaming to look at her father, someone she no longer recognized.

"I hate you," she screeched. "I will never forgive you for this."

Then two Grounders were lifting him up as tears streamed down her face. Clarke and "the flame" didn't matter to her anymore, nothing else mattered to her. All she cared about was the man she had fallen in love with.

She followed the guards as the took his body to an empty room. They left, locking the door behind them, and she pulled his head into her lap. The tears were still streaming down her face as she held onto him gently, not wanting him to slip away from her.

"You can't leave me," she whispered, stroking his hair.

"Never," he replied, his voice choking as he spoke. More tears gathered in her eyes. "Ai hod yu in."

She chuckled, making a strange sound through her tears, "I'm sorry, I'm one of the Sky people. I don't... I don't understand your language completely."

He grabbed one of her hands, holding onto her tightly, "Of course you don't, kwin. That means that I love you. Just in case I don't get the chance to say it after today."

"I love you, too," she muttered through the tears.

A kiss was pressed to his lips before he passed out. Echo entered the room and, without any words passing between the two, tied up Eden, then dragged her away from the King. But, mercifully, Echo didn't drag her out of the room.

Eden had to sit there and watch as Grounder healers entered, trying to fix him, as the tears continued to fall. She couldn't do anything as the world went to chaos outside the room they were in, nor could she do a thing to help save Roan. Instead, she just sat there, completely useless.

She didn't know how much time had passed before Clarke, Abby, and Octavia snuck into the room. The shock of her being there, in the room with Roan, made them pause for a moment. Then, Octavia flung herself at the older brunette, wrapping her up in her arms. There was some blubbering into Eden's shoulder before she pulled away, deftly freeing her friend from the ties. As soon as she was free, Eden was crawling across the floor, to Roan. Abby look at her, the expression very obviously filled with pity. Clarke had almost the same expression.

"Save him," she whispered to them, sitting at his head and pulling it into her lap, smoothing his hair away from his face. "Please, just save him."

Abby nodded to her, then she and Clarke began to work on the unconscious King. Suddenly, all of the rules about surgeons operating on their loved ones made sense to Eden: she couldn't have focused on holding a scalpel long enough to save his life. Everything they were saying was like gibberish to her as she focused on stroking his sweaty hair and reigning in her sobs.

Suddenly, Octavia was at her side, trying to rush the two medics working on him. Anxiety plagued Eden, knowing that she'd only be rushing them that way if they were in serious danger. Within moments, the Grounders had invaded the room. Echo ordered guards to grab Clarke and Abby and Octavia, but let Eden stay at his head. For some reason, Echo had taken a liking to Eden and knew that the two of them shouldn't be separated.

Echo and Clarke exchanged heated words, Abby and Octavia chiming in, but Eden was focused on Roan's breathing. She heard Echo yell something along the lines of "For my queen" before Roan stirred under hands, starting to sit up.

"Roan," she whispered, dropping her hands.

"Wait," he said weakly, making Echo freeze with her sword raised in the air, ready to swing through the empty space go decapitate Clarke.

Before speaking to Echo or anyone else, he turned to Eden and smiled at her. Her heart felt as if it was warming up when he mouthed "Never" to her, then she was helping him stand up. She supported his weight for him as he stood, talking to his clan. None of the words processed, as she was still just in shock over the fact that he was alive, standing there with her, staring up at him adoringly. But then some do strike her, effectively capturing her attention, though they're not even words he has spoken to the people in the room with them.

"Kill Wanheda," Echo said lowly. "Take her power and rule over all."

Then she was gone, through the door. Under Roan's instruction, the Griffins and Octavia were released, along with the rest or Skaikru. He kept his arm around her as he gave them further instructions to leave him be for the rest of the day and night, that he and Eden would not be disturbed until the next day, not by anyone. So it didn't take long for the room to empty out, everyone going their own way.

As soon as the room was empty, he let out a breath and slumped against her. She didn't buckle against the additional weight, holding him up easily. His eyes closed as he tried to relax, but she knew he wouldn't truly be relaxed until they got to their room. So she began to walk, supporting almost his full weight. They received many looks throughout the trek to their room, but not one person said a word to them, afraid of what he would do once he was better if they did. Once the door was shut behind them, she gently eased him onto their comfy bed, despite the white sheets and the amount of blood coating his body.

"You're alive," she breathed, sitting next to him. "I can't believe you're alive."

"I'm always with you, Eden. Always," he answered, slightly panting. "Do you still have those pain killers you told me about that second time? I think now is a perfect time to take them."

She let out a laugh, pushing herself out of her bed and towards her bag, "Of course I do. I promised you that you'd get to try them. That didn't mean to get yourself shot so you could try them."

"Yes, it's my fault that your father shot me while in some fantasy land," Roan teased as she pulled out the pill bottle. "Just drug me up and come here."

So she grabbed a glass of water and handed him the pills, watching as he swallowed them with a gulp of water. Once that was done, he moved enough that he was laying down on his back, on the left side of the bed. She climbed into bed with him, fitting herself into his side, her head on his chest and his arm wrapped around her, their legs tangled together. As they laid there, she filled their silence with tales of her and Clarke on the ark, as they had known each other for years, and of the girl she used to be. As she fell asleep, he whispered a Trigedasleng saying to her. She made a note to ask Octavia what it meant later, but she doubted that she would remember.

"Osir keryon ste teina," is the phrase he whispered to her, watching her eyes flutter shut and feeling her breathing slow, her heart beat pounding against his chest.
