The first time she spoke in Trigedasleng, it was because Roan had said something to her that Octavia had understood, but Eden hadn't.

It had been a few days since he had taken over as "Commander" of the clans. He had announced to everyone that he was honoring the Coalition and that the Grounders would be allied with Skaikru. She had, unfortunately, missed his big moment, still sleeping in their bed soundly. After almost losing him, she was exhausted and he hadn't wanted to drag her out of bed just for her to hear the public statement of something she knew he'd do all along.

Everyone had had awhile to accept that Eden and Roan were together, that when you had one, the other wouldn't be far behind. But still, looks followed them wherever they went. Clarke had probably accepted it the quickest, but she had gone back to Arkadia, trying to find a way to save the world once again. Eden was one of just three Sky people left in Polis: Octavia, Marcus, and Eden. While Eden hadn't talked to Marcus, she and Octavia had talked a few times. The younger girl was very supportive of them, once she had gotten past the fact that the relationship had reminded of her of herself and Lincoln.

Eden had convinced Roan to come to the market with her, knowing that everyone knew not to mess with him when she was with him, despite the fact that his life was in much more danger now as the new "Commander". So there they were, looking at jewelry made of rocks, when Octavia found them. It amused to her see the smile on Eden's face, to see him so freely and happily interact with the Sky girl. The appearance of both things was a stark contrast to what their normal was: Roan normally a very stoic and serious person, Eden not normally letting people in or that close to her.

"Roan, Eden," she said, making them aware of her presence.

"O!" Eden said excitedly, turning and pulling the girl into a hug. The bond between them was strong after all the time, Eden being the pillar Octavia had leaned on after Lincoln's death and Octavia being the one who understood the pain of her family shooting the man she loved. "What's going on?"

"Just wanted to check in on my favorite girl in Polis, along with her man," she answered, sending them a small smile. "I'll let you get back to looking around."

"Pick out something," Eden said to the girl she viewed as a little sister. "It's a thank you for helping Abby and Clarke save Roan, even if you were doing it for selfish reasons."

She laughed, but nodded and began to look through the jewelry. A necklace caught her eye, causing her to lean forward and grab it gently, a concept the girl now known as Skairipa wasn't exactly accustomed to. The necklace reminded her of something that Lincoln would have picked for her and just as she turned to show Eden, Roan said something that caught her off guard.

He was holding up a beautiful necklace, the stone a brilliant light blue that would look gorgeous against Eden's skin tone, "For you, my houman."

She choked on air after hearing the word, causing them to pay attention her once again. As if just then realizing that Octavia more than likely understood what he had called her friend, his eyes widened and he stared at her in shock. Her empty hand settled on her chest, the other hand gripping the necklace. Eden was looking at her curiously.

"You understood that?" she asked, pouting her lips. "What did he just call me?"

"I'll tell you later," he muttered into her ear, his hand on her back.

"I picked one," Octavia told them simply, her heart hurting at the sight of the two of them so obviously in love, the absence of Lincoln almost even more obvious as she stood there alone.

Once Eden paid for the necklace, Octavia was gone back into her previous state of being hidden. Eden shook her head, smiling up at Roan. He bought the necklace that he had showed her, then they moved on. They couldn't keep their hands to themselves, craving even just the smallest touches: his hand on the small of her back, her hand brushing against his arm, their fingers tangled together, even sloppy kisses pressed to any bare skin that their lips could reach.

Eden didn't notice the way her father watched them, regret filling his body as he watched Eden so obviously in love with the man he had shot while under A.L.I.E.'s influence. As they headed back to their room, more and more in the honeymoon stage that made everyone want to separate them, Marcus decided he would do whatever it took to get his daughter to let him back into her life, even if he wasn't worthy of forgiveness. He didn't know how he could ever live without her love in his life.

Eden and Roan laid in their bed, completely bare, the white sheets wrapped around their bodies. A sheen of sweat covered both of their bodies, her laying on her stomach and him on his back, a gentle hand resting on her back as she traced shapes with her index finger, against his warm thigh.

"What did you call me at the market today?" she asked, looking up to him and propping her head up, her hair tumbling down to the bed and more of her tan skin becoming visible to him as he looked down to her. "Octavia seemed surprised by whatever nickname you've given me now. Please don't tell me it was some sort of dirty joke."

He shook his head, a slight flush spreading across his cheeks, "Houman is Trigedasleng for spouse. It's not gender based, so it could mean wife or husband."

"You," she muttered, sitting up and holding the sheet up to her chest [not that the almost see through material did much to cover her body]. "You've been calling me your wife in public, in front of people who understand what you're saying for weeks now, knowing that I didn't understand and anyone could have told me at any point?"

He nodded, "Yes."

"But you only told me you loved me a few days ago, when you were... when you almost died."

"I've loved you since the day I saved you from the water snake," he told her, pushing a piece of hair behind her ear. "I had seen you a few times before then. I had watched you mother some of the delinquents, had seen you kill a deer. And then I did the unthinkable: I pulled you from the water and I helped you, I kept coming back."

"So you... you really love me?" she asked, almost as if she thought that he was just with her because she seemed to be fine with it.

"You doubted my feelings?"

She shook her head, "It just doesn't feel real. I realized I was in love with you when you became King but I think I loved you long before that."

"Do you want me to stop calling you houman?" he asked her gently, afraid that she'd say yes.

"No," she said firmly, leaning forward and kissing his shoulder. "Do your people have marriage customs?"

"How about we discuss all of that once the world isn't ending?" he replied, smiling at the girl he was in love with.

"When is it not?" she joked, but nodded. "Yes. We can wait. But right now, can you teach me some more Trigedasleng?"

He nodded, "The first word: kwelnes."

She repeated after him a few times, attempting to pronounce the word perfectly. Once she did, he told her the meaning. They repeated that process a few times, her learning quite a few words: keryon, yongon, reshop, sha, ste yuj, uf, hodnes. But then, the urge to kiss her grew to be too overwhelming for him, so he leaned forward and grasped her face, kissing her harshly and pulling her onto him. Her giggles, which turned to moans eventually, filled the room, their bodies molding back together in a heavenly way. And she may have repeatedly moaned one of the words he taught her, making him smug as he lost himself in her.
