✧ Chapter Fiteen ✧
Chuuya was granted three weeks off to spend at home, Dazai was going to be spending those weeks with him, apparently, he had reassured doctor Tamaki that he'd be with Chuuya the entire time, so when he would come to check on Chuuya's condition he would be able to check on Dazai's too, it was the price he had to pay for leaving much earlier than he should have. There wasn't much of a choice anyway, he had bandages to keep on and scars to hide, Tamaki knew about them -after all he had been the one to tend to Dazai's injuries many a time when he was younger- but the same couldn't be said for Yoshida-Sensei and Dazai intended to keep it that way -the only exception being Chuuya, he had already seen some of what was under his shield of bandages.
Even with Christmas Day now a few hours behind them Dazai was still set on putting up lights, decorating and celebrating, something that Chuuya found slightly surprising. Neither of them had been very keen on Christmas when they were younger, they usually decorated a tree together and argued about which globes looked better than others and then they'd sit together and eat and bicker but it was never anything special or exciting. At least Chuuya didn't think so the time, probably because of both his teenage angst and the normality of it, but then as soon as it was taken away from him he was brutally reminded of how much he appreciated spending Christmas with someone.
Dazai had always appreciated spending his Christmas with Chuuya.
"Say, Chuuya what did you do the first Christmas without your beloved boyfriend?" The brunet asked a he turned the last of the Christmas lights on.
"Why?"
"Just curious."
"Spent it a lot worse than you did that's for sure."
"Really? How do you know I didn't just wallow in my self-pity?"
"Just a feeling."
Dazai laid down onto the floor, his head falling just by Chuuya's feet, staring up at him as dusted one of his shelves.
"Chuuyaaaa~ tell me! Oh unless you're scared?~" Chuuya sighed and stared down at him with his usual frown
"I spent a few hours celebrating at headquarters then went home and slept because it felt too lonely." Chuuya responded as he plopped down onto the floor, Dazai's head now sitting between his legs still looking up at him
"You were right I spent it better."
"Told you so." There was silence for a moment and then Chuuya flicked some of Dazai's dark locks from his face
"How did you spend your first Christmas?" He asked hesitantly,
"I drank at bar lupin and then watched some of the movies we used to watch together." Dazai responded he poked Chuuya's cheeks
"But when I joined the agency I was still kind of new so I originally wanted to spend it on my own again but most of the Agency don't have parents so they dragged me along with them."
"Was it fun?"
"Mhm, it was much better than spending it on my own." Dazai smiled letting his hand drop to his side sliding backwards so he could hoist himself upwards on his elbows and press a kiss to Chuuya's lips.
"Merry late Christmas." Dazai muttered as their lips parted Chuuya grinned
"Merry Christmas bastard."

They hadn't really expected many visitors, now that everything was over and done with, the holidays now being in the past and the New Year approaching, both the Agency and the Mafia were busy, leaving Chuuya and Dazai alone most of the time. You'd have thought the two would have gone insane being trapped inside an apartment together but actually with their newfound romantic relationship, things went rather smoothly, Chuuya was able to learn little habits that Dazai had, ones that he hadn't noticed when they were younger; the same could be said vice versa.
It was two days before New Year's Eve and unexpected guests had decided to pay a visit. Seven, Five, Six and surprisingly Three along with another girl neither of them knew.
Chuuya felt apprehensive about letting Three and the mystery girl in his home, she had been the reason Dazai had been beaten so badly, but when he noticed Five give him a rare pleading look, he caved in and let the two inside. Chuuya let the teens walk in, watching fondly as Dazai ruffled Seven's hair and offered her some chocolate and of course she took it with twinkling eyes and began enthusiastically talking to him. Five threw himself comfortably on the couch whilst Six followed him curiously yet shyly.
"Three, come on." Seven encouraged turning from Dazai, the dark-haired girl flinched slightly and looked away her cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
"It's fine honey, they're not going to hurt you." The girl behind her spoke as she squeezed her shoulders. She was a pretty girl with pink hair and brown eyes, she looked soft and cute, like a walking marshmallow if you will.
Three nodded at her then took a deep breath in, walking in front of Chuuya and bowing deeply,
"I'm truly sorry, especially to you Dazai. I did all of that because I was so desperate to get Lillia back. I was willing to hurt everyone and anyone. I trusted Seven at the beginning but when she started to seem like she was betraying us I took it upon myself to unite me and everyone else with their families even if I had to resort to unwarranted violence. I just want you to know that despite all this I really am sorry and I would have done things differently if I felt like I had a choice."
She held out a bag towards Chuuya who was still standing in front of her, as some sort of peace offering. Chuuya took it but didn't peer inside, still feeling sceptical, her personality had done a completer flip since the last time he saw her and he couldn't say he fully trusted her, the silence made the poor girl feel like she wanted to crawl into a hole and hide.
"I am getting a punishment for what I did but if you want to add something, I'll accept it." Three added, brushing her hair being her ear nervously, hoping that if she mentioned she was getting repercussions Chuuya wouldn't hate her as much.
"What is your punishment?" Chuuya asked somewhat concerned, she did horrible things to Dazai but he had to admit he would have done the same if the roles had been reversed, so he couldn't entirely blame her.
"Our job was similar to yours in that we killed, we smuggled, we sold and sometimes we helped and of course much like you we got filthy good money for it." Seven interrupted after she swallowed her chocolate
"Silver kept all this money and paid us once a month for our labour, of course. However now that she's dead her money is supposed to go to all of us, so we're trying to split it equally between us and the other workers. Both Three and Four are getting half the amount we are. Four was supposed to be here and apologise as well but he's being held behind by the Agency so only Three is here but they're receiving the same punishment nonetheless." Seven continued as she walked up next to Lillia -Three's girlfriend.
Chuuya's gaze juggled between Seven, Three and of course Dazai, he hadn't said anything about the agency taking care of them,
"The agency? What do they have to do with this?"
"They were our targets, weren't they? And now they're being interrogated and supported by the Agency." Dazai spoke waving the box of chocolates around as he spoke, getting dangerously close to spilling all the chocolate on the floor.
"Hmm yeah, you're right." Chuuya agreed and then turned to Three again, he felt like he wanted to hate her but he couldn't bring himself to do so, apparently, that hadn't registered to Three or Lillia.
Lillia then suddenly came up in front of Three and bowed as well
"I'm sorry as well -on Three's behalf- I know she's caused you trouble and she's hurt you and Dazai, and I wasn't involved but I want to apologise too." She spoke and then raised her hands and clapped them together, obviously she was trying to protect Three.
"We're truly sorry." She finished as Three also bowed.
Chuuya eventually smiled ruffling Lillia's pink hair fondly
"I can see why you'd be willing to do what you did for her." Chuuya responded looking at Three with a grin, Three stared at him owlishly then smiled, sliding her fingers into Lillia's
"Yeah, I really love her."
"Me too kid-" Chuuya then turned to Lilia and smiled
"You're cute." And pinched her cheeks lovingly
"Wahhh!?! But Chuuyaaaa~ I'm supposed to be the one you call cute!" Dazai whined running over to Chuuya and clinging onto him as he wiggled his hips animatedly in mock sadness,
"You are you dipshit. No one said you weren't!" Chuuya argued as he tried to push him off and not hurt his ribs too much.
"Wait are you two finally dating?" Seven asked
"Unfortunately." Chuuya replied causing Dazai to whine again about him being mean.
The seven of them spent around an hour and a half together until Three and Lillia left. Leaving Six, Five and Seven together to talk with Dazai and Chuuya.
Six enthusiastically recounted her meeting with Dazai making fun of how dramatic it was, it was pleasant to see her come out of her shell, she was timid and shy on the surface but she was actually a very bubbly girl when she felt comfortable.
But of course in the end Six left after getting a call from the Agency about some misinformation on her family, so she had to take her leave. Seven sighed as she closed the door behind Six and then sat on the couch.
"So what do you plan to do when the Agency is done investigating you?" Dazai asked as he let himself relax, Seven shrugged, looking away from them, then pointed at Five
"I'm planning to spend most of my time with my family, I don't know about Seven though, she didn't want to tell."
"Seven?" Chuuya asked as she shuffled slightly in a better position her head still turned away from them, she exhaled before facing them, sitting up, her shoulders slumping, dragging her backpack from the corner of the couch, she fumbled with the zipper, absentmindedly searching through her bag without bothering to look. She sighed as she found what she was looking for.
"I was hoping I could avoid this conversation-" she said as she threw a folder of files on the glass table
"-I'm planning to go and try looking for my parents."
"What? I didn't know about this!" Five exclaimed turning to her with a look of desperation evident on his features
"Exactly, that was the point." Seven retaliated, fiddling with the bandages around her arms, then running her hand through her hair in vexation.
"Why wouldn't you tell me? I could help yo-"
"That's exactly why I didn't tell you. I don't want you to help me."
"What..? Why?!" Five's expression flickered with obvious hurt.
"Because you should be with your family not with me and wherever I'm going to, thats why."
Five's mouth opened and closed as if to argue back, but he seemed to not be able to come up with anything.
Seven sighed bringing up her legs to her chest and digging her face in her knees
"I'm sorry but I don't want to take you away from your family...again." She spoke in a trembling voice.
Dazai, on the other hand, had picked up the files from the table and skimmed through them, eyebrows furrowing as he read through them.
"You might not have to travel too far..." Dazai spoke lifting his gaze from the papers, Seven also lifted her head from her knees to make eye contact with the male
"What do you mean?"
"Your parents had a home in Yokohama, if anything they're probably here. Most of their income comes from here." Dazia replied as he put the papers back carefully into the folder.
"What? But I wasn't born here."
"You were, you flew back to England when you were a few months old."
"How do you know all of this?"
"My parents were friends with yours, and if I'm not confusing you for some other kid, I held you a few days after you were born." Seven blinked utterly dumbfounded
"Have you swallowed something you shouldn't? Cause you sound like your spewing utter shit " Chuuya chided, there was no way Dazai would actually reveal something about his past, even if it seemed like something as significant as this. Dazai shot a half-amused glance at Chuuya's choice of wording but Chuuya couldn't retaliate and scold him because Seven spoke up again
"Our parents knew each other?" She asked with a shaky voice
"Yeah, our mother's were friends from college, so when she had you, she came and let my mother hold you, I was included too."
"But-but how could- how old were you?"
"Five."
"How can you remember that? Why- why would you even tell me that, you've kept your past a complete secret from everyone! If- if I find out who my parents are will I find out something you don't want me to?!?! I can't- I can't do that.." she stammered, this was all too much, she was desperate to find out where her parent were but if it meant she found out something she didn't want or need to find out about Dazai she wasn't sure if she wanted to go on that adventure.
Even with Seven panicking Dazai shrugged
"It's fine if you do. You want to find your parents and in some fucked up way you've helped me and Chuuya so if I kept information about something that's important to you I'd feel bad." Dazai admitted and Chuuya yet again felt at a loss for words
"Dazai since when have you ever cared about other peoples feeling when it had something to do with you hiding something about your life?"
"Never."
"Then?! What the fuck is this?-"
He turned to seven quickly
"Not that I'm mad about you finding your family-" he turned to Dazai again
"But this is just straight-up weird even for you." Chuuya spoke holding his finger out in front of Dazai's face.
The younger held up his hands in defence
"I'm a detective chibi, it's my job."
"Bullshit."
"If anything I doubt you'll d find out much about me anyway, I'm a forbidden subject." Seven looked down her eyes watering as she bowed
"Thank you! I'll try my best to not unearth anything that has anything to do with you! And if by chance I do I'll report it all to you." Dazai nodded pushing Chuuya's finger away from his face
"That's fine with me."
"If you're going to look for them, I am too." Five finally spoke, looking at Seven with a hard expression
"No, you're not!"
"I am and that's final."
"Five-"
"Seven-kun it's only normal for him to want to help, you've been together for over two years, right? You can't just leave him." Chuuya added, he could sympathise with Five in this situation seeing as he too had been abandoned with no warning or small sign, nothing, one morning Dazai was there the next he wasn't.
Dazai looked away when Chuuya had said that, that may or may not have to be another thing that they discuss.
"I know but...Five your family...you're finally able to be with them again and yet you're saying you want to help me find my family and the only information I have is a picture of my mum and details about her ability, I don't even know her name, where she lives, nothing! Even if she was here when Dazai-sama was younger that doesn't mean she still is." Seven argued desperately, the last thing she wanted to was to take her best friend away from his family.
"You've helped me get my family back, it's my turn to help you find yours." Five spoke taking Seven's hands and squeezing them tightly
"Well said kid." Chuuya interrupted, feeling slightly moved by his choice of wording. Seven stared with blue watery eyes at Five's own glossy red ones and eventually sighed, lowering her head in defeat.
"Fine..."
It was a good thing Seven and Five were there, it was a good learning experience for both Dazai and Chuuya, the two teens knew how to sort out through their problems, unlike Chuuya and Dazai who were still figuring out how things would work between them.
━━━━✦❘༻❤️🩹༺❘✦━━━━
"Why did you tell her all of that." Chuuya suddenly asked as they lay in bed together, with Dazai's back turned to Chuuya
"She won't find out anything."
"Or are you telling yourself that to the point you believe it? She's not a genius mastermind like you but she's not stupid either."
"She won't, at least not now." Dazai replied turning to face Chuuya who was looking at him worriedly, Chuuya raised his hand and cupped Dazai's cheek
"You're sure?" He asked to which Dazai hummed in response, he pressed a firm kiss to Chuuya's lips
"Positive." Chuuya nodded he couldn't argue with that.
"Also stop giving me shitty weird looks when I say something weird by accident." Chuuya suddenly scolded causing Dazai to laugh
"Come on chuu who asks if they've swallowed something? You're just asking for a weird look."
"As I said before, you're the one with your head in the gutter." Chuuya retorted remembering the conversation the two of them had when they were there in the car and a Chuuya had misled Dazai to believe he was talking about the length of his dick and Dazai one hundred per cent took the bait. It seemed that Dazai could also remember that conversation very well
"Well I wasn't wrong was I? And technically speaking I wouldn't exactly be lying if I said I did swallow..." he murmured, Chuuya's face reddened, taking his pillow from under his head and whacked Dazai straight in the face
"Shut up you pervert!" Dazai laughed pulling the pillow off his face and smiling at Chuuya, whose face had flared up in red.
Chuuya looked towards him his heart thumping even quicker when he saw the small enamoured smile Dazai was giving him causing him to flop next to him
"Just got to sleep, you tacky bastard"
"Yes my darling petite Mafia."
━━━━✦❘༻🍷༺❘✦━━━━
It was now New Year's eve, Dazai was laying in bed getting some more sleep as he had begun to find it easier lately. The nights he had spent restlessly tossing and turning when he didn't have alcohol had decreased significantly and he figured it was because he knew Chuuya was going to stay by his side.
Before all of this, all he had that tied him to Chuuya was the fact they were both working on a similar mission but now Dazai was certain Chuuya wouldn't leave him, he felt a feeling of stability and that was something he hadn't felt much in his life, especially regarding other human beings, it allowed him to sleep better at night.
Meanwhile, Chuuya stood on the balcony, smoking, letting the bitter cold horrible air bite at his skin, his cup of wine sitting on the rail just as cold as it had been when he had taken it out of the fridge.
He sat in silence in almost silence until he heard a bang right in front of him, there were fireworks. Chuuya's eyes widened with child-like amazement, he extinguished his cigarette and ran towards the bedroom
"Oi Dazai! Come on the New Year is coming! There's fireworks!" Chuuya laughed and continued to laugh when Dazai groaned about having to get up like a teenager would, but in the end, he trailed behind Chuuya as he held his hand and allowed himself to be dragged out to the balcony.
He shivered as he stepped onto the balcony but decided to ignore the cold when he saw how happy Chuuya looked.
His ginger, unruly and unbrushed hair blew calmly in the wind, his eyes sparkling with the reflection of the fireworks. Dazai snuck up behind Chuuya hugging him from the back, keeping his eyes on the fireworks as he started to softly sway their bodies, still being mindful of Chuuya's healing ribs.
"Aren't they pretty?" Chuuya asked, ever since he was young he had liked fireworks, it was the childish part of himself he still kept. Fireworks always looked free and beautiful, they looked spectacular until the very last moment and in its short moments of life they brought amazement to anyone who was watching them, Chuuya admired that.
"Yes, you are pretty." Dazai affirmed causing Chuuya to frown at him
"Not me you dipshit, the fireworks."
"Oh yeah them too."
They continued to stand together and watch the fireworks and even once the very last one illuminated the night sky, Chuuya didn't budge from the balcony, only snapping out of his daze of euphoria when he felt the younger shudder against him.
He took Dazai's wrist and led him inside, he then turned to face him trying his best to hide the smile that was threatening to creep into his features. Dazai looked positively rosie, his cheeks and nose and ears were all red from the biting cold, his eyes were glossy too, it made him look a few year's younger than he was. Chuuya stood up on his tiptoes and pressed a soft kiss to the tip of his cold nose.
"You look cute." Chuuya whispered, Dazai's eyes widened slightly in surprise
"Don't I always look cute?"
"Not really."
"Chuuyaaaa so mean!!!" the latter whined as Chuuya began to laugh.
Dazai now sat propped up in bed, reading his suicide book. Oh how he had missed this! Reading his book in bed right before he went (or attempted ) to sleep fall asleep.
"Do you want some champagne?" Chuuya asked as he peeked his head around the door, Dazai raised his head from his book with raised eyebrows
"Why?"
"It's the New Year dumbass? That's what people usually do." Chuuya deadpanned planting his hand on his hip expectantly
"Hmm okay, I'm only drinking one though." Dazai spoke as he got up and walked from the bedroom to the kitchen, Chuuya was already pouring a glass eager to down more alcohol, Dazai on the other hand wasn't opposed to it but considering what mess happened last time he got earth shatteringly drunk he didn't really feel like drinking with very much.
Dazai sat on the isle of the kitchen watching as Chuuya tried his best to pour a similar amount of champagne for both of them, then finally once he was satisfied he slid the glass over to the brunet.
"Want to toast?" Dazai asked, Chuuya looked at him somewhat in disbelief
"I didn't know you did that"
"I don't unless I think it's necessary." Dazai mused as he thought back to drinking with Odasaku and that time on the boat with Atsushi, those were some of his favourite memories.
"Alright then, but...to what?" Chuuya asked as he looked at Dazai for some sort of answer but all he was met with was a smile
"Isn't it obvious?"
"No?"
"Ahhh~ Chuuya's so dumb."
"Will you shut up and tell me already?"
"To the stray dogs." Dazai spoke as he raised his glass into the air, tilting it slightly towards Chuuya, the ginger really didn't get it. Dazai didn't even like dogs but for some reason, those words held a warmth Chuuya couldn't deny so he lifted his glass and hit it lightly against Dazai's, a small clinking sound emanating from the liquid gold filled cups.
"To the stray dogs."
━━━━✦❘༻❤️🩹༺❘✦━━━━
After the New Year Dazai had no excuse for not doing his work, he was stuck inside all day and Doctor Tamaki had said his remaining injuries were healing well; of course, the moment Kunikida had found out he had sent heaps of unfinished paperwork that Dazai still had to do, he managed to put it off for a day or two but in the end, he felt painstakingly bored and decided if he finished everything he'd have less to do once he returned to work.
Chuuya on the other hand was adamant about getting everything done, despite how much he hated paperwork. Chuuya loved fieldwork much more, he got the excitement of fighting and using his ability, of riding his motorcycle, everything that sitting in your office writing wasn't. But his love for working did end up being a problem, Chuuya had decided that he wanted to go give Mori the paperwork by his own means; not have Tachihara or Higuchi or Akutagawa take them for him, he wanted to be independent again.
Of course, Dazai tried to argue with him and tell him to stay home and that he could end up hurting himself, which would just make him suffer more, but Chuuya was being his naturally stubborn self and didn't listen so after a somewhat heated argument Chuuya left.
Dazai sat in Chuuya's (well more like their apartment seeing as Dazai hadn't gone back to his home in two weeks), he sat at the kitchen isle with his laptop in front of him and a stack of paper near him as he filled out notes and wrote response letters to business partners, it really should have been Fukuzawa's job but everyone was working hard to lower his work time for him to rest more, Dazai included.
He sighed for the millionth time that hour, even if he had been mad at Chuuya no less than an hour ago he couldn't find it in himself to stay mad for very long, instead, worry started churning stomach in his stomach, the probability that Chuuya was going to hurt himself was astronomically high and Dazai's predictions were very rarely wrong.
The door slammed open, making Dazai jump, causing him to turn his head abruptly towards the door seeing Chuuya leaning against the frame with his hand wrapped around his ribs. Dazai set down his pen immediately and rushed over to the ginger.
He clasped one hand gently underneath Chuuya's legs the other grabbing him gently from the back, hosting him up bridal style, over to their bedroom, neither saying a word. He then sat him upright and knelt in front of him, slipping off his coat and his hat as gently as he could.
"What did you do?"
"I got angry when fucking Tachihara said something about having to stay home, I was still mad with what you had said and I lost my temper. So I punched the table at an awkward angle." Dazai sighed about to speak until Chuuya interrupted him again
"If you say 'I told you' so I'll kick you." Dazai didn't say anything and instead, he just stood up and walked over to the bedside cabinet, taking out a decently sized brown bottle.
He walked back over to Chuuya and eyed him up and down
"Shirt off." Dazai commanded, Chuuya could feel the disappointment in Dazai's voice, but equally, he could also feel the worry and the anxiousness too, he obeyed without any comment and took off his shirt, cringing internally at his body and the new bruise that had formed on his rib.
"Move back a little." Dazai asked and again and Chuuya did as he was told, he shuffled quietly to the middle of the bed, clutching his stomach with his arms out of habit to hide his stomach. Dazai sat on the end in front of him yet slightly to the side, he noticed how Chuuya hugged himself and how he was insecure about his weight; he moved Chuuya's arms away
"You're fine Chuuya." Chuuya stayed quiet and nodded, letting his arms rest on Dazai's knees, flinching when he felt the brunets bandages hands rub the cold oil on his bruised skin.
"Shit." Chuuya cursed when Dazai applied even the slightest bit of pressure, Dazai took his hand away looking up at Chuuya who was keeping his eyes tightly shut and his breathing steady.
"Sorry." Dazai apologised, moving some of Chuuya's hair from his face, the smaller opened his eyes slowly to look at the brunet and smiled, confirming that it was okay.
Dazai continued to rub the oil gently into Chuuya's skin, the cold making the area numb so all he could feel was a ticklish sensation, making him laugh.
"Chuuya stop laughing, I might hurt you."
"It's fine- it's- hah! You-you're haha- stop!" Chuuya giggled as he fell backwards, causing Dazai to give up and put the lid back onto the oil bottle, then watched as Chuuya continued to laugh
"Chibi I'm not even touching you, why are you laughi-" Dazai got dragged down by two arms, the taller had to react quickly to stop himself from falling onto Chuuya and hurting him more.
He stared unamused at the ginger who was still laughing at nothing, but the stupidity of it all didn't stop him from admiring just how beautiful Chuuya looked, all of his remaining inkling of anger faded away. He couldn't help himself as he pressed a small kiss on Chuuya's lips, the other male stopped and stared as if he hadn't kissed anyone in his life and then wrapped his hands tightly around Dazai's neck. The brunet peppered kisses all over his face and his neck causing Chuuya to giggle again and thrash around from the sensation of Dazai laughing in between all the kisses.
Once the tickle kisses seized and the two of them stared at one another breathlessly, Chuuya pressed a soft kiss to Dazai's lips
"You're not mad at me anymore, right?" Chuuya asked as they stared at one another's eyes, he felt bad that he had made him angry, Dazai was just worried and was trying to keep him from getting hurt.
"I am~ with one teensy weensy little thing!"
"And that is?"
"Stop covering up your stomach. You do it when you wear tight clothing too" Dazai scolded with pursed lips and a mock angry expression
"I can't help it! It's a habit." Dazai let himself fall on the matres next to Chuuya, turning to face him only to find the mafioso already staring back at him.
"Well I like your stomach and I think you're very beautiful, so stop it."
"But-"
"Nope."
Dazai remembered how in Chuuya's dream he had mentioned that he had called his cheeks chubby, he wasn't wrong, his cheeks were and still are amazingly chubby, though they are a little more toned now that he's an adult. Dazai hadn't ever meant it in a bad way and quite enjoyed both the boy's reaction to getting aggressively poked and the act of poking itself. However, it did make Dazai wonder if he was part of the reason Chuuya was insecure now.
"It's not because I used to prod at your cheeks when we were younger and call them is it?" He asked quietly,
"Nah, I was insecure before about my weight. I also could have cared less what you thought of my appearance considering how you looked like a walking mummy."
"Hey! I had injuries under those, they weren't for decor!"
"Apart from your eye one, I really don't get how you restricted your own vision like that."
"Well, you always had that side backed up so it didn't matter."
"That's true, I wonder if I did it on purpose or not..." Chuuya pondered making them sit in silence.
Dazai decided there was no use to wonder about pointless things of the past so instead he gave another mighty poke to Chuuya's cheeks, making the older glare at him.
"The fuck?"
"Felt like it." Chuuya rolled his eyes with an amused huff then moved his arm from over his chest to fall onto the bed, the ends of his fingers brushing against Dazai's, both of them pulling away completely flustered
"What are you? a schoolgirl?" Chuuya asked smugly, even though he pulled away too; Dazai noticed.
"What are you? A Hypocrite." Dazai shot back though he didn't hesitate to hold Chuuya's hand tightly when their fingers brushed against one another's again.
"Your hands are sweating." Chuuya spoke with a mock disgusted tone
"Shut up." Dazai mumbled as he bit the inside of his cheeks with a pout.
They sat in silence holding hands for what seemed like a few minutes but was actually an hour, when Dazai turned to look at his boyfriend he found him fast asleep, letting out quiet snores and sighs. Dazai grinned at him and shimmied closer to Chuuya, pulling the edges of the duvet over them like a cocoon.
"I guess the paperwork can wait for a while."
