Today is National  Sandwich Day,

a snack or even a meal,

using different fillings,

depending on how we feel.

Cheese, hamburger,sloppy Joe,

salad, chicken, beef jerkey, 

egg mayo, club, tuna, BLT, 

peanut butter, ham or turkey. 

Today is the birthday of John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich, rumour has it that the 18th century nobleman wanted to eat while gambling so he told his servants to place meat between two pieces of toast so he could eat using one hand only, this was the first sandwich. In England 1762 beef was the meat choice while in America it was ham, it wasn't until the late 1830's that America used the word sandwich.
