Today is National Sardine Day,
a fish in tomato or brine,
just open yourself a tin,
wash down with a glass of wine.
Sardines are very healthy to eat, they contain a large amount of omega-3 which is known to lower cholesterol levels, they are also a good source of vitamin B12 which promotes cardiovascular well being, and vitamin D, an important factor for bone building and health. The name sardines comes from the Italian island of Sardinia where once these fish swam in large numbers.
