Babies that are born too soon

sometimes need help to stay alive,

more Neonatal units are required

to give a better chance to survive.

World Prematurity Day is on November 17th, this is to raise awareness for all babies that are born less than 37 weeks old. There are approximately 15 million babies born prematurely each year, out of these 1.1 million will sadly die. Those that do survive can have lifelong health problems, cerebral palsy, vision or hearing loss and intellectual disabilities. Nursing staff who care for these tiny babies in intensive care units deserve all the praise possible and more, they have such a difficult job. The more premature a child is born, the greater the risk, we need more specialised units and nurses.
