Chapter 14: Hope World

The underground street racing scene in Seoul was one of the best in the continent and may rival that of Tokyo. To maintain its exclusivity, the time and locations of the meet-ups were always announced on the night of.

Moreover, it was an invitation-only event. A person needed to know someone who was already in the scene to have the chance of joining in on the fun.

The best part of it all was the betting though. According to Namjoon, filthy rich kids from all over South Korea would flock to the capital just to wager bags of dough on their favored drivers.

And, of course, Jisoo wouldn't pass up the chance of pocketing money from these privileged juveniles.

So, when Hoseok invited them to the race on a Friday night, she and her cousins said yes. Chaeyoung, on the other hand, declined for whatever reason she didn't want to tell them.

Jisoo didn't really care about the whole shebang; this was more of Jennie and Lisa's scene. However, like the Kim siblings, she just wanted to see Bangtan's Jung Hoseok in action at least once in this lifetime.

A quarter after ten, the three of them arrived at an abandoned theme park in the outskirts of the city with Jennie's bodyguard.

As expected, it was already crowded and remodelled automobiles lined up the driveway. As cliché as it sounds, the whole place screamed Fast and Furious.

Jisoo can't help but notice how all eyes were on them the second they got out of Jennie's Panamera. Who could really blame them though? Tonight, the category was black and white eleganza extravaganza and Blackpink's eldest was serving them Kim Jisoo realness.

"Hobi oppa!" Lisa greeted Jung Hoseok when they finally spotted him leaning against a dark green-colored Chevrolet Corvette.

"Welcome to my world, babygirl," the mobster hugged the youngest and then turned towards the unnie line. "Wow, ladies, looking gorgeous as always."

"We've traveled far and wide to be here," Jisoo jested with a taunting smirk, "now show us what you've got."

Hoseok chuckled at that, resting an arm around Lisa's shoulder, "ah, a challenge... I shouldn't have expected any less from you three."

The eldest hooked an arm with Jennie's and sent a wink to their favorite mobster. "Let's make some cash!"

•••

"He's so cool," Lisa would found herself saying as Jung Hoseok took over each of his race by storm. There was no denying it; he was smooth as silk when he drives.

The youngest stayed rooted to her spot in front of her sister's matte wheels, just watching the mobster race, her eyes twinkling with contained excitement. It was already his third for the night and he seemed to be winning this one, too.

"Yep, he's one of our best," Jeongyeon agreed, "Hoseok-ssi had been missing-in-action for a few months. I'm glad he's back."

Lisa spared a glance at the short-haired brunette beside her. Earlier that night, Hoseok warned her about not falling for Jeongyeon's good-girl facade because in truth, she was a total bad-ass.

Lips painted a dark violet and clothed in leather, just one glance at her and Lisa knew the she was an important person around here. Apparently, she was the show-maker; Jeongyeon was the one running the infamous underground races in Seoul.

"I'm surprised your sister came here with you," the girl continued, a smirk plastered on her small face, "Min Yoongi isn't a fan of my races."

"Really? Why?"

The short-haired girl laughed to herself, the kind of laugh that made Lisa think that she knew a secret she couldn't share. "He had a beef with my star racer. I don't blame him though, Zico can be a total dick."

At that moment, a commotion roared from the park's entrance, garnering all of their attention. "Speak of the devil," Jeongyeon mumbled and wiggled her eyebrows at Lisa. "The real fun's just getting started."

•••

"I thought you weren't coming out tonight," Jeongyeon said to the blonde guy who went out of a glimmering red supercar etched with awesome graffiti.

"Heard from a little bird that new faces are in the area so I thought why not drop by for a second?" Lisa swore that the stranger gave her a knowing look after that statement. She didn't know what to make out of it.

Jeongyeon shook her head in disbelief, "your funeral, man."

Just then, the unnie line finally made an appearance with Jisoo pouting like a little kid. "What happened?"

"I'm losing money, Lisa bear," she whined, "I need Hobi oppa to win this round or else, I'm going to lose two thousand bucks."

"I told you to take it easy on the betting." Jennie reprimended, "you already owe me a thousand bucks, too."

Then, the crowd of onlookers erupted in deafening cheers when Hoseok's race ended with another win up his sleeve. He immediately got out of his car to greet the newcomer. "Zico!"

"Hoseok, it's been too long," Zico mused, "I missed smoking you, bro."

"You fucking bastard," the mobster laughed, "I was seconds away from taking you down last time."

"Doesn't matter. A win's still a win." The guy boasted, leaning against his car. "But I'll give you another chance to redeem yourself. Right here, right now."

Hoseok raised an eyebrow at that. "What are the terms?"

"If you win, you'll get this baby," Zico answered as he ran a hand along the smooth hood of his car. "And if I win...", his smirk got wider, taunting Hoseok, "I get a kiss from you." The street racer turned to Jennie with a devious glint in his eyes.

Her older sister's eyebrows pulled together in confusion. Lisa was certain that she and Jisoo were sporting the same expression as well.

What the actual fuck?

"Don't you know who she is?" Hoseok glared.

"Who doesn't?" Zico responded in utter nonchalance, "her wedding was all over the news after all."

With that one statement, Lisa finally had a hunch of what was happening. She was hoping that the mobster doesn't take the bait though.

Hoseok laughed out loud, but it sounded off, he wasn't the least bit amused about the situation. "You're fucking crazy, man."

"That's the terms, take it or leave it."

"Fuck no, you disrespectful piece of shit." Hoseok finally said, illiciting disappointed murmurs from the onlookers.

Zico shook his head in dismay, "you Bangtan motherfuckers are a bunch of pussies as always. Just admit that you're afraid of losing to me again and go. Take your gay ass out of here."

"What the fuck did you just say?!" Hoseok shouted. He was about to throw a punch at the blonde newcomer but was fortunately held back by Mingyu.

"Hobi oppa, can I talk to you for a second?" Jisoo interrupted them. She led the mobsters away from the crowd and the Kim siblings quickly followed them behind.

"Just take the deal." Jisoo stopped him before he could get a word out, "I'm just saying, you need to teach that fugly homophobe a lesson."

"I would if I could," the mobster sighed; he sounded anxious and agitated, "but Yoongi hyung would kill me if I involve Jennie into this."

"Are we just going to let that banana-faced talk shit to Jung Hoseok like that?" She directed the question to Jennie this time who looked pissed off as well. "Jen, it's you who that pervert is targeting. It's your call."

"Fine," said Jennie, "just beat his stupid ass, oppa. I'll deal with Yoongi later."

"Are you sure about this, Jennie?"

When her sister nodded in reply, the mobster left their small circle to talk with Jeongyeon and Zico again. The crowd hollered in delight upon hearing that the biggest race of the night was happening after all.

"If this goes downhill, I'm dragging you to hell with me, bitch." Jennie promised the eldest.

"I'm in all the way, baby." Jisoo replied, putting her arms around Lisa and Jennie's shoulders, and leading them towards the short-haired show-maker.

"Shit is going to hit the fan," Jeongyeon muttered under her breath. "Alright, people. Clear the road and let's fucking race!"
