Chapter 12: Girl in Luv

It was 11:49 in the evening and Kim Lalisa just finished an episode of Rupaul's Drag Race. She had wrapped her thin figure in a thick blanket and binge-watched the show all day.

It had been a week since her audition and God knows she gave it her best shot. These past few days, she had nothing better to do than be a human burrito while she waited for the results. All she could really do was pray that the dance school accepts her or else, she will be going on a one-way trip to hell, a.k.a. Busan.

Lisa was halfway through another episode when her phone lit up with a new notification. She sat up in her bed upon seeing a new email from the Korea National University of Arts' admissions office.

The brunette barely understood the content of the whole email. Her brain basically haywired when she read the word "congratulations" at the beginning of the paragraph.

It took minutes for reality to sink in.

Finally, finally, she had a purpose in life again. Finally, she was one step closer to her dreams.

Lisa quickly called the first person she wanted to share this news good with. After five rings, he picked up. "Jungkook!"

"Baby," he breathed from the other end of the line. His silky voice alone never failed to send shivers down her spine.

She liked to believe that the two of them were friends now and not just mere acquaintances anymore. The brunette got Jungkook's phone number from Hoseok the night he dropped her off at Yoongi and Jennie's place, and the two had exchanged text messages a few times since then. The mobster would even ask for updates about her audition sometimes which she found quite endearing.

"I got into Korea National!" She cried.

There was a short pause before he softly chuckled, "congrats, Lisa."

"Thank you," she said softly, still on cloud nine.

"Are you at the penthouse?" He asked out of the blue.

"Yeah..."

"Get ready in twenty minutes, I'm picking you up."

"What‍?!" She must not have heard him right. "Why?"

"We're going to celebrate. Wear something warm," the mobster said before hanging up.

Then, it dawned on her that instead of calling her sisters to tell them about the good news, it was Jeon Jungkook she dialed first.

Fuck.

The brunette waited for the mobster at the parking lot of the condominium building. Dressed in a navy blue shirt, faded jeans and white coat, Lisa opted for a casual look that night.

The temperature was indeed cold, and on normal nights, she would rather curl up in her bed and watch makeup tutorials on Youtube. But, tonight was rather special; it wasn't every night that she gets to see Bangtan's Golden Maknae and celebrate an important milestone in her life with him.

What am I gonna do? Say no?

It was freezing and yet, she felt warm all over.

A few minutes later, the sound of a motorcycle can be heard entering the enclosed premises, making her heart beat a bit faster than normal.

Finally, Jungkook came into view and it took everything in her not to melt into a puddle. He was wearing his signature leather jacket again and clad in black from head to toe. He looked like James Dean and damn, if it was not doing something to her.

The ebony-haired mobster stopped the vehicle right in front of her and opened the visor of his helmet. Jeon Jungkook, as per usual, looked like a million dollars without even trying.

"Hi," she greeted, her eyes lingering at his semi-exposed forehead. He stared back at her without saying a single word, making her feel self-conscious. "What?"

"This is the first time I'm seeing you out of a dress," he commented before handing her the spare helmet.

"Well, how do I look?" She found herself asking.

"You look like a college girl already," Jungkook hummed to himself, "I like it."

Lisa blinked in surprise. God, he's flirting with me and it's only been a minute since he arrived. I'm not going to survive this night.

She chose not to reply to that and hid her burning cheeks from his sight instead by hastily wearing the protective gear and changing the subject altogether. "So where are we going?" Lisa hopped on his motorcycle as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

"It's a surprise."

"I don't like surprises," she pouted, fingers touching the sides of his evidently muscled torso to balance herself.

"That's too bad." And the mobster laughed at her before they sped away.

Half an hour later, the two arrived in front of a small and very pink pastry shop.

"This is where Jin hyung and Joohyun noona first met," Jungkook shared, "hyung would force me to go here with him sometimes. Their red velvet cake is the best."

Upon entering the establishment, Lisa's nose was instantly filled with the heavenly smell of the baked goods, making the brunette sigh in delight. There were macarons, tarts, croissants and cakes in a myriad of flavors. Her mouth was already watering just by the sight of them. Best of all, they were the only customers at the moment. "This place is heaven on earth."

In the end, she had ordered a piece of the famous red velvet cake and a cup of Earl Grey tea which the mobster offered to buy for her.

"Thank you for bringing me here. You shouldn't have, but I'm glad you did."

"Me, too. This place seemed like your kind of place, and I was right." Jungkook smiled before taking a bite of a chocolate cookie.

It was quite amusing how he looked so out of place amidst the rose-colored interior of the shop. It made her chuckle softly.

"What's so funny?"

"You."

He looked intrigued now. "May I ask why?"

"You're black in pink."

"Black in pink?" He tipped his head to the side. "I'm not following you."

"It's just an inside joke between my sisters and I. We call ourselves 'Blackpink'."

Jungkook guffawed. "What are you, a bunch of 13-year-olds?"

"Well, in our defense, we made that name up back in primary school. Stop judging us!" She frowned at him but it quickly turned to a small grin when she caught sight of Jungkook's eye smile.

"Fine, I'm sorry," he didn't sound apologetic at all. "Don't stab me with your fork. I have enough scars as it is."

"You're one to talk! You guys call yourselves 'Bangtan Sons'. What the heck is up with that?"

Jungkook laughed so hard at her remark, he doubled over on his seat. "Finally," his brown eyes twinkled with mirth, "someone finally said it."

His genuine laughter was so contagious, it was making her giggle, too, even though she didn't have a single clue as to what he was so amused about.

"All these years, my hyung-deul and I were waiting for anyone to confront us about the stupid name." He explained, "no one ever did."

"Maybe because... I don't know... you guys run the largest mob in Seoul?" She teased and sipped from her cup of tea.

"And yet, here you are mocking us..."

"I figured, Hobi oppa would save my ass if any of you got mad at me for dissing y'all."

"That would work. If only he wasn't the one who came up with that name in the first place..." he snickered.

"Oh damn, you got me," she sighed, feigning hurt, "well then, I guess, I have you to save me."

"I guess, you do," he smirked, brown orbs staring intently back at her.

I guess, I like you.
