The Great Leap Forward

Tony POV

Percy is showing no emotions. None at all.

We have tried everything to get a reaction out of him. This includes Peter telling him funny stories like when they left a stink bomb in their least favorite teacher's classroom, Natasha holding a gun to his head, Bruce saying he drank all of the blue cokes and Loki putting us back in Percy's memories like Tartarus (this only happened when nothing else worked).

But Percy didn't change at all. He stayed frozen, face not moving. For once, I didn't know what to do.

Percy sat on the couch where Loki asked him to sit. We surrounded him on the couch after our trials failed.

That's when I suggested, "Let's do an electroencephalogram." For all those who aren't as smart as me (which is everyone), it's also known as an EEG. If you don't know what that is, it's a way of finding problems in the brain by measuring electrical activity.

"Why didn't we think of that before?" Bruce complimented me.

"If you say "to the lab!" I may have to shoot you." Natasha glared at me.

I shrugged and said it anyways. She punched me but it was worth it.

Two hours and many electrical wires later, we had an idea of what's going on. Natasha pulled up footage of Percy getting attacked by another Algae, even though we couldn't see it in the security tape. She and Katniss leaned lazily against one of the back counters as Capsicle stood attentively beside them, looking at one of the screens hanging from the ceiling. Bruce and I were at work on the other side of the room analyzing the data coming in from Percy's brain on similar screens. Thor and Loki stood on either side of Percy, almost acting as bodyguards in case something happened. Peter doesn't know what to do, so he paces between each of the groups.

I concluded that it seemed Percy was touched by it or it did something to him, based on his reactions, that removed his emotions. This is supported of the lack of firing of synapses in his brain. It's possible I had help on finding this out... We reported our findings to the team.

"Bruce, we aren't as smart as you. What the heck does this mean?" Clint asks.

"It means, Percy's brain isn't firing the way it should be. He isn't processing what he sees and feels inside."

"What can we do to help Percy?" Thor takes a seat on one of the stools in the lab moving from his position on the right side of Percy. Percy hasn't moved from being next to him on the lab table, just like how he was before.

"I honestly don't know." I admit.

"That has to be a first. Tony Stark admitting he doesn't know something?" Natasha antagonizes.

"Oh shut up." I retort.

"Let's not fight. We need to figure out why Morr would let this happen." Steve starts being the 'Team Leader!' again.

"Isn't it obvious?" Loki finally joins our conversation.

"Enlighten us, Trickster." Natasha rolls her eyes glancing back to the screen with the footage on it.

"Morr feeds off of emotions that's his mutant power that made him into a god back in the times of Ancient Greece. Percy must be a great feast for him, so much angry and sadness. It must be a give him a substantial amount of energy. Morr would want this suffering to continue to happen for Percy, that way he gains power. He does this through the Algea." Reindeer Games is making sense.

"The Algea are his attack dogs. They stir up Percy's emotions to give Morr a bigger meal. But haven't the Algea touched Percy before?" Jolly Green Giant asks while looking over at Percy.

"Yes they have. Which is why I think Morr himself has done this."

"But why now?" Clint starts off, "Percy has been suffering for a while. And doesn't taking away his emotions defeat the purpose of making him suffer?"

"Maybe it's because Morr thinks Percy is done cooking and it's time to remove him from the oven." Steve scolds me. "What? It's the truth. Percy is at the point where he can't suffer more, so why not enjoy the yummy emotions all at once? Or maybe Morr is afraid."

"He would have to be afraid of us helping Percy then." The spider supports me, speaking up for the first time. "Which means we are helping Percy."

"Bingo! So we have figured out Morr is a mutant and he uses the Algea as attack dogs. Percy is his main course. He took Percy's emotions." I whip around Bruce to the other screen and pull up the readings on the tower.

"If he took them, we should be able to get them back." Stars and Stripes continues our thinking.

"Well duh, but how?" I ask him.

"We can trap him with the Mutant serum we created. That should reverse his powers and give back the emotions Percy has lost." Momma Spider plans out.

"Then we kill him, correct?" Loki asks almost innocently.

"We can't kill a god. The serum might take out his powers for some time. We should deliver him to the gods for their judgment." Of course Steve would suggest the noble thing.

"I have an idea." Bruce starts out.

"You have good ideas." I analysis the data from the room when Percy lost his emotions.

Bruce does a double take when he looks over at me, "I'm not even going to ask where you got the blue berries. Anyways, Percy heals in water, maybe we should try sumerging him and see if it heals his emotions."

"That's worth a shot." Peter looks between Bruce and I. "I can take him down to the pool."

"I can help you." Loki says in support.

"That's great and all. But I think I found a way to track Morr."

"The radiation levels spiked right before it happened and didn't drop until Percy fell to the ground. I know, I tried to tell you." Natasha gives me sass.

"Well did you map out the city to see if anywhere had the same spikes of radiation?" I sass her back.

"Do you think I'm in high school?" She rolls her eyes.

"Hey!" Peter shouts at us.

Natasha ignores Peter and continues, "There's a spike over in Hell's Kitchen and in the Empire State Building. Worth checking it out."

Sounds like we have a job to do.
