Percy's POV
"So, what did the crazy lady tell you?" Tony enters the room after I called to them.
"I'd be careful what you say, Man of Iron." Thor warns leading Loki and Bruce in. Clint and Natasha are nowhere to be seen. "Lady Aphrodite is very defensive and will punish anyone who says ill about her."
"Trust me, you don't want to be on the receiving end of it." I mutter.
"Fine, I won't call her names." Tony sighs in defeat.
"Good call, Tony." Steve's voice comes from the kitchen.
Tony jumps, clearly startled, "Where did you come from?"
"I came in before you, didn't you see me?" Steve plays it off, but I think he never left.
"Mortals, I believe there are more important matters at hand. What did Lady Aphrodite say?" Loki brushes past them and approaches me.
So I fill them in, even though Clint and Natasha are gone. Someone else will tell them for me. We have a lot to do. We have the bare bones of our enemy.
"I have never heard of this god." Loki says once I finish filling them in. "There was no mention of him in the books."
"Aphrodite mentioned his name being confused by another god. It might be Mors, the Roman aspect of Thanatos." I think aloud, this was one of the things she taught me.
"I have no clue." Tony admits, "But that means one thing, to the lab!"
~^~
It has been days since we were all together.
We thought the war was just beginning but in reality, Morr has been attacking all along.
Only Peter and I are left.
"Percy. Snap out of it. We will get them back." Peter taps my face. I just blink at him.
"It's not your fault dude! But it will be if you do nothing about it! Just get your sorry butt off my bed and let's go!" With that, he pushes me off and I fall.
I catch myself just in time and stand up. We are in his apartment in Queens, Aunt May thinks we are doing a school project.
"Seriously?" I ask.
"You weren't responding. Morr expects us to be in Times Square in an hour and we don't have a plan."
"I do have a plan." I retort.
"Well can you tell me?"
I don't have a plan. So I don't respond.
"So... you don't have one. Great. I thought you of all the Avengers would have one." That hurt.
"Every war I have fought, I have had my friends at my side. I don't know what to do." The truth is, last war I fought, last plan I made, everyone died.
I sink back onto the bed and bury my face in my hands.
The bed dips next to me and Peter's arm is placed over my shoulders.
"Percy, I'm sorry. I am so scared right now. I haven't fought anything like this. I just assumed you knew everything with stuff like this. I didn't think you might be as scared as I am."
And we just sit. Burning precious time.
After a few minutes of silence, Peter speaks, "What does this god even want? Why does he want you?"
"I have no idea. I don't know why I'm so special."
Peter moves his arm and shifts so he's facing me, "Why don't we ask the other gods for help? You could call in a favor and they would have to help."
I look up at him, "Even though that's a great idea, it wouldn't work. They still wouldn't help. Nothing is in it for them."
We sit in silence again. My gaze shifts over his Star Wars figures on the shelf.
"I think the plan should be we fight to free the other Avengers. Then we regroup. They will know what to do." I say. But I leave out an important part.
"We will have to go with it. I'll come in from above, you from below. We also need to contact SHIELD. They won't be able to help fight, but they can help the citizens in the way." Peter adds on.
"Let's get going." I twist my ring and my clothes change into my celestial bronze armor.
"Dude, that is so cool. I'll never be able to get over that." Peter looks over at me as he fishes out his suit.
We can't go back to the tower to get extra weapons so we are stuck with the ones we have. Too many monsters are now roaming the floors.
And like that, we are on our way to face Morr.
~^~
Times Square, for once, is deserted. Thankfully, SHIELD was quick acting and declared New York City to be 'unsafe' and cleared everyone out in a ten block radius.
My steps echoed off the buildings as I walk forward.
"Morr!" I shout, "Show yourself!"
A tall man appears in the middle of the square. He has to be at least six and a half feet tall. His black hair is spiked up and has a scar on the side of his face.
"Percy!" He tries to greet me like a lost friend. I won't fall for this twice. "I'm soo glad you could make it!"
"I came alone. Like you said." I lie taking a step closer.
"Oh! I wish that was true!" He snaps his fingers and Peter is suddenly wrapped up in his own webbing on the ground next to Morr. Another snap, the Avengers are in glass cages on top of one of the buildings.
"Peter!" I shout, not able to stop myself. I'm truly all alone now.
"Now now. Percy. I'll make you a deal." Morr clicks his tongue.
"What are you offering?" I ask hesitantly. I'm now a few steps away from him and Peter.
"If you complete four of my tasks, they will go unharmed." He circles me. "But for every task that is failed, I kill two of them."
"But Thor and Loki can't die."
Morr clicks his tongue again, "Oh yes they can. I know how to kill an Asgardian. They aren't truly immortal like you and I."
"What are the tasks?" My voice is steady. I can do this.
The first task was to repeat and successfully get Bob, her and I out of Tartarus.
I failed.
This time, I was the only one to make it out alive.
Steve and Tony were the first ones to die.
The second task was to stop Gaea from killing the Seven.
Nothing changed.
But something else did.
Natasha and Clint are now gone.
The third... words can not explain the torment.
But my failure caused Bruce and Peter to fall.
I cannot lose the last one. This cannot be.
"For your last task," Morr was enjoying my pain and my failed attempts. "Is to fight Annabeth, Nico, Leo, Jason, Piper, Hazel, and Frank to the death."
He waves his hand lazily and they all appear, fully armed and in perfect health.
On the other hand, I'm barely standing. I have fought my hardest today. So much death has been caused at my hand. And yet it still continues.
I have to kill them again.
They seem to be having a silent conversation as they surround me in my weaken state.
I raise Riptide just in time to block Jason's attack. I go on defense right away.
We dance. Our swords going back in forth. Jason tries to swipe at my knees but I jump away just in time.
"Percy, why so defensive?" He swings his sword at me again. My heart leaped in my chest. I can't help but press against the edges of the circle where Leo is.
He shoves me towards Jason. I take this chance to stab him in the gut. He always leaves it exposed.
Jason's body just disappears into thin air.
"How dare you kill him!" Piper rushes forward. Leo follows just after her.
They are both on opposite sides of the circle. I duck and roll out of the way so they run into each other. But they are quick.
"Why did you have to kill our friend?" Piper calls out again.
"You've always been jealous of him, haven't you?" Leo taunts. He has no weapons and seems not to be able to summon his fire.
Piper, however, has her dagger. She assumes a defensive stance and waits. Leo, however, punches me right in the jaw.
My head snaps to the right and Piper takes the chance and slices open my arm. My instinct take over and I slice open her gut. She disappears.
Leo stares at me, a fire burning in his eyes.
I don't give him the chance to fight back. I don't give any of them the chance. I call upon a mini hurricane and tear apart all of those around me. I can feel it in every cell of my body. The pain fills me inside. I'm killing them all again.
I fall to my knees and let the storm rage on.
A hand falls on my shoulder, "Percy," She is still here.
The hurricane dies down suddenly. Only the damage it caused is left to show evidence it ever happened.
"Percy, why won't you look at me?" She places a hand on my chest, trying to get me to look at her. I can't do this.
I try my best not to drop Riptide. I have been wanting her back in my arms ever since that morning on the Argo II.
I rock back on my knees and rest my head on her thighs. "I can't" I mutter in defeat.
"Then the last of your friends will die," She says it like the most normal thing ever.
I look up at her for the first time. And my chest aches and fills with sorrow and misery.
I force myself to keep looking at her as I stab her again.
Then she is gone.
"You did it!" Morr congratulates me almost too happily. "But you didn't do it well enough. Kill them!"
"Why don't you kill me?" I yell at him.
"I need your pain" He smiles at me. "I am what you call a mutant! I was given the power to change emotion into energy I can use. I am a god because of this! Your pain and misery brings me great amounts of energy. I can't kill my energy source!"
And with that, Thor and Loki fall limp. I can't see their chests moving.
I'm frozen. I can't move.
So I do the only thing that comes to mind.
I scream.
And then I wake up.
~^~
Sorry this is a day late.
It is partly because I had no idea what the heck to write. And... well... I kinda made my mom mad and she took away my phone and laptop for the day. But all is well now!
How was your day?
Is this chapter okay? I hope so...
Thank you for reading!
