January 8th 2017
Sam unwillingly opened his eyes but froze when he couldn't feel Gabriel wrapped around him. Sam still got up. He knew what was going to happen. Sam felt himself glide across the bunker. He tried to close his eyes but he still saw everything.
"Help!Help!Help" Dean shouted and there Sam was. Looking into the eyes of Gabriel, the sparkle gone and his colours gone, his colour all over Sam.
"You're a monster. You're past saving" Sam wanted to crawl into a hole and bury himself in it. Dean swung and Sam punched then threw Dean onto the wall. He spluttered his insides and Cas stabbed him. Not one detail was left out. Cas on the floor and Mary's spine twisted 360 degrees and Sam was pouring with tears.
Sam's eyes finally shot open for real. He was in Gabriel's arms. Gabriel chest was covered in tears and whispering words into Sam's ears as he rested his head onto Sam's shoulder.
"Gabriel" Sam half groaned half sniffled.
"Sam" Gabriel pulled Sam away to look at him. Sam's eyes were red and puffy, his cheeks shining with tears and pure sadness. Sam tried to look at Gabriel through his foggy vision. It had been obvious that Gabriel had been crying too. His eyes red, but not as bad as Sam's and his cheeks had lines running along them.
"I'm... sorry" Sam choked as tears fell faster. Gabriel's heart cracked, his Sammy was apologising for crying. Gabriel pulled Sam into a tight hug, he wasn't going to let go any time soon.
"Sam please don't be sorry, just be my Moose" Gabriel pleaded, as Sam's nestled himself back into Gabriel's arms. "You're going to going to go out and hunt this evil thing and you are going to forget about how sad you are." Gabriel told Sam. Hunting was just what Sam needed to take his mind off all this for a while. Sam nodded, Gabriel was right. He was going to man up and he was going to hunt down that evil son of a Bitch. As if on cue, Dean smashed on the door.
"Sammy! Are you ready to go?" Dean called out. Gabriel snapped his fingers and Sam was dressed with a pack bag. Sam kissed Gabriel on the cheek and raced out the door to Dean.
"Sam are you okay?" Dean asked as they threw their things into Baby's boot. Sam wiped his eyes to see if he was still crying, he wasn't but his eyes were a bright red. Sam cleared his throat.
"I'm fine" Sam tried to assure Dean but his voice lacked confidence. They climbed into Baby and began making their way over to Grangeville.
Time sped by as Sam aimlessly stared out the window, silent as Dean sung his heart out to Led Zeppelin, AC/DC and Metallica.
"Sam!" Sam sprung out of his daydream and turned to Dean.
"What?" Sam yawned, rubbing his eyes.
"Can you go over the case?! I've been asking for the past few minutes!" Dean complained, turning back and forth from Sam and the road. Sam sighed. He pulled out the newspaper and began to read.
"On January 7th a man was found torn to shreds in his home, he is the third death in the area with similar mutilations. Supposed bear attack by authorities are quickly changing their minds" Sam closed the paper and turned to Dean. "What do you think it could be?"
"I'd say werewolf or maybe a black dog. We'll need to check the bodies out first" Dean theorised with Sam. The car went quiet, not an awkward silence but a thought provoking silence.
"Maybe a Rugaru?" Sam suggested, but honestly they couldn't be sure about anything until they got there. Sam reached into the back and pulled out a bottle of water, sculling it down. Dean looked at him in shock. "What? Gabriel is a big influence" Dean just shook his head looking back at the road and Sam looked back out the window.
Sam didn't even notice Dean pull into the drive through until he hit him and asked what he wanted. They ordered, grabbed their food and left.
They continued to drive. Dean trying to be careful while eating, driving and keeping Baby clean was a funny spectacle for Sam to enjoy. Dean tried to take the last bite out of his burger and the sauce dripped onto the leather.
A single man tear was shed that day.
It was well into the night when they switched positions, Sam didn't want go to sleep. He quietly sung any song he could think of to entertain himself. The only songs that came to mind were the songs he'd been heard all day.
"If it keeps on raining, the Levee is going to break. And when the Levee breaks mamma you got to go..." He tuned, he didn't really care if it was the right lyrics but Dean isn't awake to lecture him.
Sam yawned, it was almost 11 yet he was tired but he wasn't going to sleep. Lucifer may have pushed him over the limit but just not today. Today Sam just needed to get there, and sleeping wasn't an option.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Sorry for the short chapter, there isn't much you can do with a whole days driving. But the next chapter will be much more exciting... and by the end of the hunt I might be worrying about my mental health.
