Renjun suddenly felt too sick to go school the next morning. He had read and re-read the godforsaken note again and again, and had finally come to an acceptable conclusion.
He was hallucinating.
That's all it could possibly be. The idea that both of his crushes returned his feelings was all too good to be true, like a story written for naive children who weren't ready for harsh reality just yet, or like a movie he had already watched. He knew how it would end if he tried to get together with the two other boys: he would get his heart squashed and be left to drown in his own depression. Which sounded a bit too scary for poor little Renjun.
He had to drag his unmoving body out of his house to go to school, determined to not let his immature crushes ruin his perfect record. He set off towards the bus stop thinking that he might give the note back to the boys and see their reactions, maybe even ask them what the actual frickety-dickety-doo they were talking about. Yes, the perfect plan.
However, after he was left alone with his anxiety for an entire bus ride, his plans changed drastically, naturally. He would... completely forgo ever speaking to the two boys again and simply ask the teacher to switch his seat with someone else's! This was much more sound indeed.
And then he met up with Chenle and his boyfriend at his locker. Chenle and Jisung were constantly holding hands and Chenle kept booping Jisung's nose and Jisung was just casually resting his chin on Chenle's head and talking to Renjun about maths homework of all things, as if this was not total PDA. Like, what the heck.
It's like they were purposely rubbing their relationship in Renjun's face. Haha, you're single and we're not.
But Renjun would never admit it gave him a deep pang of longing. To be real, who wouldn't want someone who would hold hands with them and let them boop their nose and have an absolutely adorable height contrast with so that they rested their chin on your head and wouldn't Jaemin be perfect for that?
Renjun groaned at his straying thought process and almost banged his head off his locker door. Why wasn't there a medicine that stopped you from being whipped? That would come in real fucking handy.
Jisung stopped talking about the difficult formula they had to have memorised for today and looked at Renjun worriedly. He looked down at Chenle for a bit of help with a Renjun who was glaring at his locker slightly cross-eyed and who apparently could not care less about formulas as of this moment in time.
Chenle, who had already been watching Jisung's side profile reverently, understood what was going immediately. "Don't worry," he said loudly, just about getting Renjun's attention, "He's probably only thinking about Na Jaemin and Lee Jeno." At this absolutely ludicrous suggestion, Renjun's head snapped sideways, his mouth slightly open and his cheeks a fiery red. "Am not, you dolphin!"
Jisung would have cooed at the smaller male if he wasn't beside uwu incarnate (in his opinion, anyway) and also if Renjun wouldn't hit him without hesitation for "this disrespect".
"H-how do you even know about my- those- those guys!?" whisper shouted Renjun. Chenle only smiled smugly, before replying "I'm in your English class, dumbass. Right. Behind. You." He enunciated the last three words slowly and seperately, and waited for that to sink in real good.
"You- you what? Wait, since when?" Renjun was now beyond confused. Of course, anyone sane would have noticed if their best friend was sitting right behind them in any class. If it weren't for his studious (not nerdy) tendencies, he would be passing notes too.
But if Chenle was behind him... then he would see every single note pass that happened in class. Knowing Chenle, he would watch and analyse every single one, and come to usually correct conclusions-
"So, I hope you will confess to them soon, Injunnie dear," drawled Chenle, fully aware he was right in his observations.
"I- I do not have a fucking crush on Nomin!" whisper screamed Renjun. (Jisung gasped. The girl a locker down from them looked over weirdly.)
"Aawww, would you look at that Jisung, he gave them a ship name, isn't that cute?" Chenle was being... very Chenle-y right now.
"I hate you, bitch," snarled Renjun, turning on his heel and stomping away from the couple, leaving Chenle laughing and leaving Jisung in shock of this profanity.
Third plan of the day, thought Renjun, third time's the charm...
