Renjun's new plan did not take much thought, but was the best one so far in his opinion.
Renjun, desperate to escape the implied teasing and secret longing brought about by his younger best friend's (adorable??) relationship, decided not to completely dismiss the idea that his crushes weren't one sided. He knew that this was risky and some part of mind that was thinking logically was screaming at him so loudly he would be clutching his own head in agony, if it weren't for the wet cloth damp with infatuation draped across the rest of his brain, blocking out logical thought.
He would collect evidence, simply enough. Collect these notes and read them to make sure that he was right to think that he was liked back. It was all too simple. Of course, he would not collect all of them, as it would be slightly suspicious if the note passing between the boys suddenly ceased, and they would turn to Renjun immediately, correctly assuming he was keeping their notes. He would allow two or three notes to reach their designated receivers per class and that would mean that he would be able to keep three or four to read when he came home. He would definitely keep them in the little mini safe he had in his locker, which was normally for money and important USBs. That way no one would be able to read them, as not one person other than Renjun himself knew the password required to access the contents of that box, not even Chenle, who knew his locker code (Renjun actually would have told Chenle if he wasn't absolutely sure Chenle would steal his money to go on an expensive date with Jisung).
He just hoped that his hypothesis was proved right in the end, because hope was already blossoming in his chest and it would just bounce back if he tried to push it back down now. His hypothesis being: Na Jaemin and Lee Jeno like Huang Renjun. So much so that they pass notes about him in class.
Renjun sighed, drifting off into his unfiltered thoughts again.
I just really want to date them, and marry them and maybe even move with them to the French countryside with a dog called Fifi.

Renjun had a whole two days to think about his plan before it was to be initiated. He was having an internal war with himself during that time, of course. That was putting it lightly.
More squishy thoughts about how much he loved two certain guys; overthinking on his plan and the inability to find anything to add to it sending frustration sinking into every pore; his damned anxiety telling him anything and everything could go wrong; and dreams and daydreams elaborating on his plans with France and Fifi.
All good here, nothing out of the ordinary.
Trusting his plan to have flaws close to none, he managed to get his nervousness to calm down enough so that he was almost confident in his plan. After all, if his untrusting mind had gone over it as many times as it had, how could he mess it up? Many ways Renjun, don't get cocky-
Silencing his vexing thoughts, Renjun returned to school on Thursday, absolutely ready to carry this out. To be honest, he put so much thought into this which was was so very unneeded, but he had never taken matters into his own hands like this. Usually he would have let situations play out in front of him whilst he sipped his tea curtly.
English being his first class, he thankfully did not have to count down hours leading up to it. Taking his seat, he watched as the class unfolded normally. Renjun was hyperaware of everything.
Nomin entered the classroom holding hands as usual, separating about a meter from their seats and seating their "beautiful ass selves" down on their chairs, quoting directly from Renjun's thought process.
And so they began inking down notes as soon as Mr. Porter started up the lesson. A total of eight notes were passed during the lesson from Jaeno and Jaemin in equal amounts. Renjun kept five of them, simply slipping them into his pocket when they were passed to him, ignoring the dangerous urge to read them the minute the giver looked away.
By the the time class had ended, Renjun was almost quivering in fear of having been discovered one way or another. He had checked the pocket he was keeping the stolen notes in regularly between popping the notes into it, to ensure that there was not a square centimetre of paper revealing itself. He half expected Jeno to turn and raise his eyebrows at Renjun, and ask for his fucking notes, or for Jaemin to roll his eyes at him sidelong, then scowl and ask him to stop messing around and taking their shit.
Renjun's small reassurances to himself were something along the lines of "It's completely normal to have a piece of paper in your pocket, dumbass, you're a student" and "They would never do those things, they're too nice".
That, unfortunately, did not stop Renjun from checking his pocket tirelessly until he could go to his locker and stuff them into the safe he kept behind his history books at lightening speed. He let out a relieved sigh when the box was locked and safe from prying eyes.
"Watcha got there, Injunnie?" someone whispered right in his ear. Renjun jumped six feet in the air, then sank six feet under as he died of fright.
"CHENLE! I SWEAR TO FU- TO GOD IF YOU DO THAT AGAIN, HOLY SHIT MY HEART!" Renjun yelled, clutching his hammering heart as Chenle sniggered behind him. (The girl a few lockers down just rolled her eyes, used to this by now.)
"Sorry, boo," Chenle smiled a sugary sweet smile, and Renjun wanted to hit him because anyone could tell he wasn't. "Don't dodge my question though, what did you just stuff in your extra safe-safe?"
"Um- money?" It came out more as a question than a statement. Renjun was not good at making up lies on the spot. Chenle, an expert liar, saw through the thin sheet of a fib and stepped right through it, rolling his eyes at Renjun's poor attempt. "What's so important that you looked so relieved after it was safe? I won't tell anyone, promise. I'm great at keeping promises, you know. Yaksokhayo."
Renjun scoffed, amazed at how Chenle had the nerve and ability to say that with a straight face. "You are the loudest person I know, Chenle. I think the fuck not. The entire school will know before Nomi- wait-" I fucked up.
"OH THIS HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH- MMPPHH- !" Renjun slapped a hand over Chenle's loudass mouth before the entire hallway knew of Renjun's ongoing dilemma.
He felt something wet against his palm and pulled his hand away in disgust, subsequently wiping it on Chenle's sweater. Chenle smirked at him and spoke again, now whispering.
"So, are you going to tell me what those pieces of paper said that made them so important? Or should I tell Nomin about that time you were talking in your sleep abou-"
"Fine, Chenle. I'll tell you. But if you tell anyone, you will not live to screech another day."
Renjun outlined his plan, taking care not to go into detail to get it said and done as quickly as possible. "... so then I'll know for sure that they like me! It's pretty simple, right?" Renjun finished, and anxiously awaited the blond's answer, playing with his jumper sleeves. "It's actually pretty good, I'll give you that," said Chenle after a moment. Ah, goo- "BUT-" B-but?
Chenle and his extra ass held a small finger up in the air to accentuate the word. "But, what will you do when you know?"
Huh, didn't think of that.
