Chapter 10

"Oh, my god! So he actually kissed you. I can't believe it!" She was only a little less excited about this than I was which felt odd to me. She was always extra excited about everything and I was always extra excited about nothing.

"Don't sound too shocked. I've been kissed by a guy before. What's so different about this one? He's just famous." Okay, so by this point I was absolutely, one hundred percent, trying my best to pretend like it wasn't that big of a deal. But it totally was a huge deal!

"Oh, just famous," Her sarcasm was getting better, almost on my level, "He is the most popular guy on Earth right now. I can't believe you are dating him! You're dating him. What are you going to do about your next date? You can't top his! You need a pro. Is that what I'm here for? Date planning? I have so many ideas." She was definitely taking this way too seriously. He was just a guy. Okay maybe not just a guy. I mean he was famous, but he doesn't feel famous and he is still eighteen. You get me, right?

"So do I. It's called a casual movie night. We have a date with a couch, some popcorn, and Netflix. No dressing up, just him and me. Same thing as last night." I didn't want to say anything, but I just didn't want to be anywhere near his brother. He gave me the creeps. I might have left that part out when I told Soph about that night. I didn't want to freak her out too.

"That's it? Then what exactly am I here for?" This seemed to bum her out a little more, but I could tell she was still hopeful to have some sort of 'job' during the date.

"I want you to be in the house too, you know, to keep him in check. I know my mom will just leave us alone and I need someone else there that I can trust. Can I trust you to do that?" I knew her answer would be plain and simple.

"Of course, but just when exactly should I, you know, keep him in check? I don't want to be that friend that he hates." I guess it wasn't so plain and simple after all, but I knew he'd love her too; just not too much because, you know, there's me.

"Trust me, if he ever hates you, he goes. Sisters before misters." I gave her one of our special fist bumps.

"In this case, I don't think I would mind it that much if you kept him around. You know, him being famous and all." She did a hair flip to show off some of her sass, then she laughed and gave me a side hug. "Sisters before misters." She repeated. "Now, how do we start setting up?" She was definitely eager to begin.

"I think we are good for now, but I do have to make a very important call."

...

"Hello!" Austin's voice lit up when he heard me on the other end.

"Hi, Austin. You said you wanted me to call?"

"Just needed to hear your voice. How are things going with you?" He was so thoughtful and sweet. It was my pleasure to give him a call.

"Good and you?" I, unfortunately, didn't know much else to say.

"Anxious for tomorrow. Can't wait to see what you got planned. Also can't wait to meet your parents." He was going to be a little disappointed.

"You are just going to be meeting my mom. My parents are divorced." I didn't want to get into the details; at least not right that second.

"Sorry to hear about that. I'll bring her some flowers."

"You really don't have to. And by the way, It's going to be a casual thing tomorrow, so no need to dress up." I knew that this would be somewhat of a shock. He probably goes to bed in a tux.

"Damn, I had a suit picked out and everything." He chuckled, "I guess I'll get to see you in your normal outfit."

"You saw that in the café." That was total BS, but I still thought I'd try to lower his expectations.

"I know you underdressed because you didn't want to meet me." he had me pegged, "I hope things have changed since then." I could feel him smiling on the other end.

"They sure have." I said innocently, "By the way, you won't mind if my best friend joins us tomorrow? Okay thanks bye!" I didn't think he'd care too much, but I thought it would be safer if he just didn't have a say in the first place.

"Wai..." I hung up.

Sophie laughed. "He seemed so thrilled that you two have some company." I could tell she was joking, but I knew that she didn't want to be a 'burden' on our date and would do whatever I asked the second I would have asked for it. But I didn't want her to feel like a third wheel.

"I wouldn't worry about it. It'll always be you before him. Sisters before misters." I guess that was our new thing. How I've changed over a year.

"Sisters before misters." She repeated again before giving me the longest, tightest hug I have ever had.
