Chapter 11: Facing the giants once more
Callie's POV:
It's been a couple of hours. We were all still sitting in the "doll"house, hiding from the giants. They, luckily, gave us some space and didn't try to force us to come out, but I knew deep down, that we'd eventually have to face them and talk to them again. As much as I hated the idea of being anywhere near Jake, I knew I couldn't avoid him forever.
"Umm...ladies, maybe we should check what the giants are up to." Hyun-a spoke up. "A-are you sure that's a good idea?" Nina said, grasping her blanket. "I-i am not sure...but we can't avoid them forever now, can we?" She had a point...but I don't know if I want to go through with this.
Jake's POV:
It had been a while. We had all decided to give the girls some space before trying to talk to them again. If I had to be honest, I was getting way too impatient, but knowing the consequences, I decided to wait. It had been a couple of hours since then, now it felt as though, it was time to talk to the girls, to Callie. "Umm....guys, maybe we should check on them?" I asked as I turned to face my brothers. "M-maybe you're right, we did leave them alone for a couple of hours." Luke chimed in. "I guess it's settled then." Alan spoke. "Let's go and check on the girls."
Third Person POV:
The giant boys slowly rose from their beds and walked towards the tiny house, that stood on the floor, facing them. As soon as they approached it, Alan knelt down and looked throughout one of the small windows, using one eye. What he saw, broke his heart. Within the bedroom, sat six girls, all looking terrified for their lives. Hyun-a, his little human, looked at him with terrified, but knowing eyes...as if she knew this would happen. Nina, the youngest of the humans, sat in the corner of her bed, clutching her blanket, while Astrid sat right next to her, hugging her knees in fear. Mia had hidden herself underneath her blanket, but hadn't done the best job at keeping herself hidden due to all her movements. "M-mia...your plan isn't working..." Meghan whispered, trying to get her to come out. "I-i don't care...I'd rather stay here than come out and face Peter." Mia mumbled, hoping her giant wouldn't hear what she was saying. Despite all of the girls being terrified of their very presence, no one was quite as scared as Callie was. She was trying to hide it and put a brave face on, but deep down, she was panicked.
Soon the humans were interrupted by a booming voice: "ummm....girls, could you please come out? We really need to talk." Talking, what were they planning to talk about? This question pulsed through each human's brain, making them more and more nervous. "We need to talk about what happened earlier today." Alan clarified. "And we think it's best if you all come out rather than stay locked up in the house all day." Jake butted in, causing Alan to glare at him. "What I mean is....it is best if we all talk face to face." Jake corrected, awkwardly. The girls all looked at each other before finally making their way downstairs and stood right in front of the boys, forming a straight line.
Jake's POV:
I watched as all the girls, including Callie, formed a straight line in front of us. They all looked at us, waiting for the conversation to start. "How should we start this?" I whispered to Alan, quietly, so the girls wouldn't hear it. "I can start." Alan whispered back, coming forward, kneeling down in front of the humans. "Sooo...ummm, about the stunt you pulled earlier..." He began, when he was interrupted by a panicking Hyun-a. "I-i am sorry...for attempting to escape.." The human said, keeping her head down. "Hey hey, don't be like that." Alan said, sliding one of his fingers underneath her chin. "I am not mad. I can understand why you all wanted to escape from us." He said, trying to emphasize with the human. "We took you from your friends, families, lives....and you wanted it all back. I would have done the same if I was in your situation."
Callie's POV:
Alan is really trying to emphasize with Hyun-a? Maybe those boys do have a heart...well at least somewhat of a. I stood in the line with everyone else, my eyes never leaving Jake's. He seemed to try to look away, I wonder why. "I know you all want to go home." Alan continued. "I truly understand where you're coming from, but as much as we may want to, we cannot let you go. We cannot risk the giant kind being revealed." I listened as he spoke, keeping my hands together in front of me. It is understandable, that they don't want to endanger their kind, but even if we told anyone about them...no one would believe us. "Even if we told someone, they would not believe us..." I intervened. "Will you stop talking over those, who clearly are the the bigger ones here?" Jake butted in. "Jake, it's fine...let her speak, this is just a normal conversation." Alan interrupted. "What exactly do you mean with 'not believe'?" He asked, looking right at me. "Giants to humans...a-are supposed to be fictional characters from storyb-books, they wouldn't believe it in a m-million years if we told any of them..." I explained. "But you don't know if that can apply to everyone." Alan butted in. He had a point, there could always be someone, who actually believed in giants and could tell others about them....but they wouldn't know if we kept our mouths shut about it. "W-we can keep our mouths shut and never tell anyone." I spoke up again, causing Alan to sigh in response: "Look, I know you all want to go home, but as of now...we don't really have a reason to trust you. Plus, You have attempted to escape behind our backs." At this point, I could no longer argue with him. I stayed quiet, putting my head down in defeat as I whispered to the girl: "I tried..." I guess the only way for us to go home, would be to get these boys to trust us enough to take us back. "Alright..." Alan spoke up. "Now that this is all settled, I suggest we all have something to eat." Speaking of food, we didn't have anything to eat since yesterday and it seemed as though we could all agree on that.
Jake's POV:
I watched as Callie put her head down. Was she actually giving up? She seemed so much stronger, but it seems even she knows when to back down. I really need to talk to her...alone. Maybe I'll get the chance later?
Third Person POV:
The giants all picked up their respected humans and walked towards the kitchen. Jake was the last to enter the room, keeping his eyes on Callie, who currently sat in the middle of his palm.
Mia's POV:
"Y-you're not mad at me, right?" I asked Peter as he held me against his chest. "Of course not, like Alan said, I understand why you did what you did." Peter responded, caressing my hair. "D-do you think those two will finally get along?" I asked, referring to Callie and Jake. "I am sure they will." Peter said, placing me on the table next to Nina and Astrid. As soon as I was on the ground, I mover closer to the girls, waiting for the rest to arrive. "I-i hope everything will be a-alright now." Astrid spoke, Nina nodding in agreement. "I-i hope so too." I mumbled, looking up at the huge figures right ahead, preparing what looked to be toast with cheese. Thank god the punishments didn't include starving. Soon the delicious smell of the breakfast began to surround the room. This whole escape attempt really made me forget how hungry I really was. I watched as Peter began grabbing plates, that to me and the others, were extremely big, whilst , to my surprise, Jake, was the one cooking the breakfast cheese sandwiches. Henry stood next to him, helping him place the sandwiches on a much bigger plate. Luckily, he had placed Meghan on the table earlier. A giant stove would have been extremely hot at that close proximity. "This smell is making me hungry." I whined. "You're going to have to be a little more patient." Hyuna said, from the other side of the table, where she, Meghan and Callie were.
Alan's POV:
Let's just hope everything will go well. Food can help bring people closer, right?
