Is This A Joke?

It was 7 AM. The trip to Bank Valley would take about two and a half hours. It was in a part of Korea they had never visited before but they had heard about it on the news once, yet none of them could remember why.

The boys were throwing their luggage into the trunk of the large SUV they would all be riding in. The seven of them decided to travel pretty light, they figured they could wash their clothes at the house they were staying at. And aside from their tiny flip phones, they weren't allowed to bring their other electronics.

They were rushing to get their luggage in the car due to the fact that it had started raining outside, quickly turning into a monsoon.

Their manager had hired a driver to bring them to the house they'd be staying at, who would drop them off and return with the vehicle to the company. HYBE couldn't afford to be out one of their vehicles for an entire two weeks. Manager Jung figured they'd be okay without a car, they had phones and could call anytime if something happened. He also figured they could call an Uber if need be, although he completely forgot that Uber was also on lock down and wasn't currently offering rides. Oops.

"How is it this cold in June?!" cried Hobi. He was soaked from the rain and shivering while throwing the rest of his luggage into the back of the SUV. The other members had already finished loading the car and were sitting in it, except Jin.

Jin noticed how much Hobi was shivering and ran over to him. "Ah! Let hyung finish, you should just get in the car, you're freezing," Jin said as he put his hands to Hobi's cheeks.

Jin loved being the oldest of the group, it gave him a sense of pride. He was always extremely protective of the other members. He was admittedly even extremely overprotective sometimes but he couldn't help it. It was just some kind of internal instinct to protect the six younger members. After all, they were his little brothers. He never really pulled the oldest hyung card on them or asked for a certain type of respect. That was pretty evident every single time Jungkook would tease him.

Ah, the maknae. He loved his maknae probably more than life itself. He practically raised him. He had a soft spot for Jungkook, honestly they all did. Just something about him being the youngest made them all very protective towards that boy.

Hobi jumped into the vehicle as Jin threw the rest of the luggage into the trunk. It was raining so hard at this point. Jin slammed the trunk closed and hurriedly hopped into the back seat.

Finally, they were on the road.

"Two and a half hoursssss?" Jimin complained. "Manager Jung couldn't have picked somewhere at least a little closer?" Jimin wouldn't have minded the long ride so much if it weren't for the fact he had no source of electronic entertainment.

"Jimin-ah," said Namjoon, " We've traveled further. I guess we will have to do this trip the old fashioned way."

Namjoon started jokingly singing really badly, making the other boys laugh hysterically. Hobi was smacking Yoongi's thigh because he was laughing so hard. Yoongi looked around at everyone while he also laughed, he thought his members were all so cute.

He wasn't one to verbally express how much he loved and cared about them, but he always made sure to show it through his actions instead. Actions always speak louder than words, that was a trait he had picked up from his father.

"Taehyungie," Jungkook tapped Taehyung on his shoulder, "Do you want to thumb wrestle?" he asked.

"Only if you feel like losing," Taehyung teased. Jungkook was up for the challenge, he was always extremely competitive and knew he'd most likely win anyway. Taehyung was usually all talk when it came to that stuff. Jungkook thought it was cute.

They began thumb wrestling and the other six members suddenly turned into thumb wrestling referees. Every time Jungkook or Taehyung would show a sign of winning, they'd all start cheering for whoever it was.

"Ha! You can't defeat the Jeon Jungkook!" Jungkook yelled excitedly when he won their thumb wrestling match. The other members cheered for him. Taehyung gave him a playful punch to his shoulder and laughed, then slowly leaned on Jungkook's shoulder to rest his head. He was feeling tired. They all were.

They'd been in the car for about an hour and a half now, and because of how badly it was raining it had delayed their arrival time by 45 minutes. So they still had a while to go.

One by one all the members began to fall asleep.

A sudden jolt from the car woke everyone up, startling them. Taehyung didn't even realize he had grabbed Jungkook's arm. Just a protective instinct.

"Sorry! Are you guys okay?!" Their driver, whose name was Yingi, glanced at them through his rearview mirror.

"Huh? Did we hit something?" Hobi asked. His heart was pounding after that sudden jolt. He had no problem admitting he was a scaredy cat about stuff. He had a tendency to overthink and over analyze things a little bit, which gave him some anxiety.

In interviews, whenever asked who the coward of the group was, they always pointed to Hobi. He didn't care though, he was very aware of it. Jimin already knew the jolt had made Hobi nervous and began gently rubbing his fingers along his hyungs arm. He knew stuff like that calmed Hobi down.

"We didn't hit anything. The car hydroplaned a little bit through a puddle but I got it to stop. Sorry to frighten you." Yingi had then pulled the car over into a parking lot. "However I can't figure out the GPS. The address is saying it's 5 minutes away, but every time I get close to the turn it says to take, it reroutes me."

"Can you call Manager Jung? He said he knows the guy who owns the house we're going to, maybe he can help lead us in the right direction or something," Jin asked.

"I'll call him," Yingi pulled up Manager Jung's number and pressed the call button.

"Aside from going in circles, at least we're somewhat close!" Namjoon exclaimed as he looked around at his other members. He couldn't help but notice Jungkook's expression, who was busy looking out the window.

Why does he look so nervous? Namjoon figured it was because of what just happened with the car, and the fact that they were lost.

"Jungkookie, are you okay?" Namjoon asked his maknae. He hated seeing Jungkook look nervous or scared about anything, it broke his heart. Jungkook usually didn't talk about his emotions, although they were always written all over his face.

"Hyung, this place looks deserted. Like nobody even lives here. Are we sure this is the right town? Even the houses look creepy. What kind of house do you think Manager Jung has us going to?" Jungkook asked nervously.

Jungkook was a brave soul when it came to certain things, like bungee jumping off a mountain upside down or riding the worlds tallest roller coaster. But he didn't like things that creeped him out. And looking around outside the window of the SUV, this town was in fact, creeping him out. It was dark and rainy, no people in sight, or cars for that matter. All the houses looked abandoned. Extremely worn down, broken windows, broken doors. There's no way people lived in those. He tried his best not to show it but he was a little bit scared. Hopefully they were in the wrong town and the house they were looking for was somewhere else. He really didn't want to stay in a creepy house for two weeks. Especially in a place where civilization has seemingly seized to exist.

"Hey," Namjoon put his hand on the top of Jungkook's back in an attempt to comfort him. "I'm sure the house that Manager Jung had our agency book through his friend is fine. Like Yingi said the GPS is messed up. We're probably just on the wrong side of town or something. Wherever we are going is just a house, no need to be nervous about it. Besides, you have six hyungs with you. You're safe ."

Namjoon's words did make the maknae's heart ease a little bit. Namjoon was right, it was just a house somewhere and he'd be fine. He had six hyungs who would never let anything bad happen to him. There was realistically nothing to be afraid of.

"Alright!" said Yingi, who had just hung up the phone with Manager Jung. "Apparently there's a road I was supposed to take that doesn't even show up on GPS, but he explained to me where the road was and I remember passing it...a couple times." He chuckled and began driving again.

Not even two minutes later, Yingi turned left down a very narrow dirt road.

"Soo...this was the right side of town?" Jin asked. He didn't say anything before, but he was also secretly hoping this wasn't where they were supposed to be. Not that any of them even knew what the other side of town had looked like, they had all been asleep. For all they knew this very well could have been the better side of town.

Jin shivered at that thought.

"Yep, this is the road. Manager Jung asked me to give you guys the final run down before we get to the house. So as you know, if you need anything call him, and if you need a ride or car call an Uber. Th-" He was interrupted by Jimin's laughing.

"I'm sorry," Jimin tried saying through his laughter, "But an Uber? Out here? Hah! Even if we weren't being dumped in the middle of only God knows where, Uber isn't running because of the pandemic. Manager Jung must've forgotten that." Jimin's laugh faded when Taehyung spoke up.

"We're going to be trapped here?! What if something bad happens and we have to go? Like an emergency? Jiminie is always falling off chairs, what if he falls and breaks his leg?" Taehyung said with actual concern in his voice.

Hobi tensed up at the thought of that. Taehyung was right. By the sounds of it , they were in fact going to be trapped at this random house in the middle of nowhere. He tried to remind himself that it was just a vacation and they would be fine.

Yoongi noticed Hobi fidgeting and tried to lighten the mood. "Taehyungie, you worry too much. We'll be fine. Nothing is going to happen to anybody, and we just won't let Jimin sit down for the next two weeks," Yoongi smirked. Jimin gave him a playful punch on the arm and smiled. Hobi also let out a chuckle.

Jungkook stared at Yoongi with awe in his eyes, he was the bravest hyung ever. Nothing scared him, not even the creepy stuff that scared Jungkook himself. He wasn't all that concerned about wherever they were going anymore, he felt safe with his hyungs, especially his Yoongi hyung.

"Guys! Can I finish what I was saying please?" Yingi sounded a little irritated. Considering he'd been driving for over three hours now in the rain, and still had to drive back, it was understandable.

"Sorry," all seven members said in unison.

"Okay so scratch the Uber idea apparently. As you know you'll be here for two weeks, there is a washer and dryer in the place and it has running water and electricity so no need to worry about that stuff. Manager Jung made sure his friend stocked up the house with any supplies you might need, and plenty of food. Just try not to eat it all in five minutes," Yingi joked, "That's pretty much all the info, nothing too complicated."

"Do you know how many bedrooms there are? If I can't get a break from my maknae's I might actually go insane," Yoongi asked. He would love a slight break from the youngest three as well. He said it with a smile while looking at Taehyung, Jimin, and Jungkook who were all chuckling. He loved them to death, he truly did, but sometimes they just didn't know when to stop annoying him. Although it didn't help that he didn't have the heart to scold them about anything, ever.  Especially not Jungkook.

"I'm sorry, I didn't ask how many bedrooms it had. I gave you all the information I know," Yingi replied.

They all sat back and looked out of the windows, and a small lake with a dock came into sight.

"A lake!" Hobi shouted. "At least we can go swimming. Hopefully the weather isn't like this the entire time we're here. Ahh, I love being on the lake." Hobi was excited. The members were excited to see the water as they all loved swimming.

Except Jungkook, who wasn't as thrilled.

Yoongi glanced over at the maknae, seeing his sad expression.

"Jungkook-ah, you can hang out with me on the dock. Okay?" Yoongi did actually enjoy swimming, but didn't want his maknae to feel left out. Jungkook didn't say anything and simply smiled at him.

It wasn't that Jungkook didn't like swimming, it was just that he didn't know how to swim. Not without a life jacket at least, in which none of them thought to bring one.

In Run BTS episodes they always had life jackets on when they did anything around water, and he loved being in the water as long as he had the jacket. The world didn't know Jungkook couldn't actually swim, only his members knew. He had tried to learn, but anytime he got in even just shallow water without a life jacket he would panic and gets back out.

His hyungs never pressured him to learn, they always just made sure he had a life jacket when they swam and remained close to him. One time Namjoon was feeling extra overprotective and even attached a whistle to Jungkook's life vest, even though they were swimming right next to each other.

Yoongi felt a little bit guilty about not thinking to bring one, but none of them assumed there'd be water if they weren't going to a hotel with a pool.

The vehicle turned a sharp corner.

Everyone's mouth dropped.

Silence.

What seemed like an eternity later, Jin spoke up.

"Is this a joke? This has to be the wrong house.
