Chapter twenty one
[Theres still a ton of unanswered questions in this chapter, and i know i know this is probably one of my more shittier chapters, because it's so rushed. But i dont wanna feel like im begging for comments, but I wanna know if this plot twist was predictable or not, or just telling me what you think would be good too ^-^ Believe me, this isn't the end of the story, I just wanna hear some feedback and opinions about this part of the story because if it's pretty bad I won't pull anything like this again ]
"Time travel doesn't settle well with me."
*
You had woken up by now, and the claims that Danica were making seemed too much to take in, and Ben was let out to talk about his side of the story.
Danica was making very serious claims about her family, and who she's related to and how and why. Ben, however, was not. He was still Danica's half brother, and it's why he tagged along for the ride. She came here on terms that were completely her own, and she kept peaceful and quiet about it.
"Time travel? Sorry, but I don't exactly believe you." Jason said, taking off his red hood mask, since everybody knew who everyone was about now. Dick followed this action, though Bruce was not following the action and right after you had ripped Damians domino off of his face and made sure it went back on.
"I already gave Bruce a piece of his family chessboard that even had his own teeth marks on it from a long time ago, The chess board that's been in the f What else do you want? I knew who all of you were, and I could get out of that cell. I bet that none of you knew that existed." Danica said, shrugging her shoulders and folding her arms over her chest, her sleeve slipped down a little bit and allowed everyone to see the burn scar in the middle of her arm on the inside, what looked like the insignia that Superman has on his chest.
Bruce found this particularly interesting.
"Anybody could have made a replica-"
"A perfect replica, with your teeth marks on it?!" She yelled back, her sudden outburst caused you to jump a little where you sat in the hospital wing part of the cave.
"What is that brand for." He demanded, eyes narrowed on Danica as he pointed an index finger to her arm, ignoring the fact that what she said was right. Dick had even gone to the chess set to take out the same exact piece, bite marks and all. Everything was the same.
Danica mumbled something to herself as she prodded at her arm, asking if the burn was really that important at the moment but she answered anyways. Covering it back up, she opened her mouth to speak. She had an unamused look on her face, and a sound of annoyance and a bit of hatred tinged in her voice.
"The future that I come from is very deranged. I don't use vulgaraties much often, but Supergirl's one hell of a bitch in 40 years. Not even the same Supergirl that you all know today, but I'm just saying she isn't exactly kind to those who she makes deals with. It's a way of marking who she keeps contracts with. I needed a lot of help to get here, it took a speedster, a kyprtonian, some magic, and some other stuff that I am not oblidged to tell you. Bart told me not to say too much because it could be dangerous." Danica spoke, sitting down in a computer chair and blowing a tuft of black hair out of her face.
"Which is odd, because magic and kyptonians usually don't go along." Danica mumbled, but shrugged her shoulders.
"Either way, I'm a Wayne and what I'm doing here has to succeed or lots of innocent people die. I want to tell you more but I don't know how dangerous it is or not. As Bart would say, I'm trying to keep you 'From feeling the mode', I never really understood that until now." She said quietly, whenever she spoke about Bart she had this look in her eyes for a second that seemed painful. This entire time Ben didn't speak a word.
"I'm not saying that I believe you, but if we ask a question and you can answer it, will you?" Dick asked, he seemed to be the first person in the room that was able to deal with this problem the easiest. Along with Tim, and possibly Jason. Because they weren't actually Waynes by blood. But the things that Danica knew about you, is why you weren't as relaxed as the three of them. Leaving you in the same pit as Damian and Bruce.
"...Okay." Danica mumbled in response, swinging her feet as she sat in the chair. The cave got quiet, Alfred had just now came into the room with more tea. He was one of the few people that were starting to believe Danica's claims, no matter how strange they've seemed. Stranger things have been said.
There were bats in the roof of the cave, every now and then they could be heard. Drops of water fell from black stalacites above head, leaving drops to fall on everyone every here and there. It all seemed, and was, normal to them. But every now and then it would freak you out and you'd let out a quiet shriek that only Damian could hear.
This entire time you refused to look at him, knowing now that he was Robin? Something in you was angry, that it was Damian. As far as you knew, you didn't like Damian. But every now and then you'd get some really warm feeling in your chest from what Robin did, or the things he said to you. It was probably just the way he made you feel safe, but you never dove into the thought. You tried not too, but part of you was telling you that maybe, just maybe, you'd like to know who was under that mask for more of a personal reason. All the times you just wanted to plant a soft kiss on the cheek to him out of no reason at all, rather than it was just a...feeling?
All those times that you've just wanted to punch Damian in the face, but then again there are times where you've wanted nothing but to hug him, have him close to you. Those times and thoughts rivaled those of beating the crap out of him, knowing full well that he's stronger than you in every way and you make it so that you were the one on the ground begging to be let go instead. Those thoughts against the ones of, out of anger, smashing your lips on his to shut him up, pulling his hair and digging your nails over his skin. Thinking about what his voice sounds like when he's at his most vulnerable.
Every time you looked at him in the Robin suit, all of those thoughts came back rushing to your head, in great detail. sometimes you'd see images when you closed your eyes, and you tried your best not to look at him, oh you really did. But nothing was working.
"What time did you come here." Damian asked, crossing his arms.
"Well, I came here years ago. Initially, I was suppose to keep my parents from meeting-"
"Explain all of that." Damian cut her off, eyes narrowed into a glare as his grip on the side of the hospital like cot tightened, you could see his knuckles going white.
"I don't see a reason why I can not. I was suppose to keep a family from dying, but I failed and only the kid lived. If that family broke apart, none of what happens in the future happens. That family was suppose to die, but I didn't know that it was impossible for the girl to die in that situation. I had no idea at all that no matter what I did, the parents would die. I tried, but then I found out I was actually responsible for their death in some way. That girl is my mother. My second instcint was to keep my mother from meeting my father, but I failed on that too. So I did some pretty reckless things and I managed to get stuck in some glass case while I was on patrol. It was mister freeze's thing, I stumbled upon it and I was frozen in that case for six years, underwater, where nobody could find me." She stated, crossing her arms and glaring at Damian.
"I know that's too much to say, but I'm growing tired of none of you believing me." She added, watching as everyone shifted in their seats.
Bruce remembers dealing with a case a couple years ago, Freeze said he had multiple children between the ages of 6 and 19 locked in ice capsules under a lake. Bruce couldn't find the lake. If only he had, he would have found Danica. Along with those other children.
"Relax, the other kids got out fine. And by fine, I mean they're stuck in therapy for the rest of their lives. All's good work in a day, right Bruce?" Danica said, though there was a tone of darkness that loomed in her voice, as if asking if any of what he ever did as Batman was really worth it if that's almost always the outcome. She was being sarcastic, and dramatic. It wasn't always the case.
"Why would you wanna keep your parents from meeting?" Tim asked, and Danica answered as quickly as she oculd so she could get it out of the way.
"I have a brother, Jaison. He's got a twisted moral compass. He thinks that all criminals should die, and that a chance of redemption is not a choice for those who have sinned too terribly. And by that, I mean that he thinks anybody who has ever taken a life deserves to have theirs stripped away. Which is ironic, considering all the people he's killed and people he's made me kill. To put it lightly, he has a terrible god complex. So to speak." Danica said, while looking at Jason.
"Jaison Timothy Wayne, are you getting the picture now? I'm related to you by blood, and all of us are connected. I just need one person to believe me. That's all I need." Danica said silently to herself, when she said her brothers full name it was enough to get Bruce to pinch the bridge of his nose and look up to the roof of the cave.
"Go on, take a blood sample. Because I stole that first one you all had taken of me while I was in holding." She said, eyes narrowed into a glare at the ground as she kept her back to everyone. She seemed to be at her breaking point, willing to spill the truth of everything. Just so she could get one person to believe her.
But you were taking all of this too much.
You were putting pieces together, why she had the same eyes as you, when she mentioned that she had to keep her parents from meeting, the first time she ever came here was six years ago, that would mean you had been ten the first time she came here. You were ten when your parents died.
Where you the girl she was talking about? And, she mentioned time travel, and she hasn't really mentioned anything about Damian, yet she's made comments about everyone else. A brother named Jaison Timothy Wayne, that would mean he was named after Jason and Tim. Danica's middle name was Gray, and that was short for Grayson. And if memory serves, you had a friend when you were younger, her name was Danika. With a K, not a C. But she had pretty long blonde hair and green eyes. So you know it's not the same person, but she was honestly your best friend for a long time before she moved away to LA with her family.
Tim was slowly catching on too, and he was the smartest out of the bunch aside from Bruce.
Danica was letting on too much, and you started to realize all of this the moment she was saying your mother's lullaby.
Danica Gray Wayne is your daughter from the future.
The moment you came to realize all of it, your eyes widened in shock and you dropped whatever it was you were fiddling with in your hands. Your lips parted as a gasp was let through, and as if Danica could have heard it she snaked her vision back around to you to make eye contact, her short black hair moved as she did, and she had a pained look on her face. Like she knew what it was you just came to know.
But then Tim spoke up, and it dragged Danica's painful gaze away from you and onto him with his next set of words.
"Are you...Damian's kid?"
