Chapter nine

You'd been on the bus a total of forty minutes before Danica had passed out cold in her seat, leaning against the window with her grey baseball cap clung over her face to hide her closed eyes. Almost like she felt vulnerable to be seen or known she was asleep. You stared at her, wondering just what it was she was dreaming about.

squinting your eyes, she seemed to have a habit of silently talking in her sleep. Not even talking, more like just mouthing words. You really did wonder what she was dreaming about, since you have that exact same habit.

~

Danica sighed, leaning against her hand in her bedroom. It was pretty big but it still felt like it was empty. She leaned forward on her study desk, the family photo of hers. Her father's hand on her shoulder, her mother standing behind her brother. The light from the ceiling made it so she couldn't see the face of her parents, but the blank expression she wore in the photo knew was the opposite of her brothers annoyingly obnoxious smirk. His bright blue eyes and (h/c) hair  shined due to that light.

Danica flicked the face of her brother Jaison, he always has to go and screw things up, doesn't he? It's the reason why shes in her room right now. Her mother and Father started yelling at each other about morales, their sons morales in this case. He's a little older than her, about a year or two. But out of the two, Danica's more mature.

There was a knock at her bedroom door, she sighed and got up out of the light green chair, her long hair that went past the middle of her back flew out behind her with her quick movements.

She opened the door to see none other than the last person who she wanted to see, her annoying older brother.

He shoved his way in, no questions asked as his taller muscular form gently shoved her out of the way. He sat on the green chair, crossed his legs and gave Danica a long hard stare.

"Think we can call Uncle to come over and get them to stop?" He questions, pushing shoulder length (h/c) hair out of his face and behind his ear. His bright blue eyes narrowing in on the smaller girl in question as he flipped out his phone.

"No. They can deal with this on their own, we don't have to keep calling him every single time they have a fight about you. Can't you just shut up? What would Grandfather say, honestly. If only he-"
"Don't bring that up. Don't you dare." He yelled, picking up the family picture frame and throwing it at the smaller girl.

She didn't grab it in time, but she dodged it fast enough for it to clatter against the wall behind her and shatter to the ground. Instantly he regretted his actions, looking at the ground in guilt.

"You're the reason this family is falling apart." She muttered.

"Danica, Danica wake up." You shook the girl, her sleepy (e/c) eyes fluttered open, the baseball cap falling off her face.

"We have to get off the bus, it's the end of the line. Come on we-"
"Where are we?" She mumbles, standing up and walking outside of the bus with you. All senses of sleep where gone from her. It seemed as if she'd been awake for hours, alert and ready. How the hell does she do that? It bothered you. It takes you about two cups of coffee to be fully awake.

"We're in Bludhaven. We should leave here really quick and get on the next bus to Central city at best." You answered quickly. You knew that you wouldn't have to worry about Batman here, but there is that Nightwing guy you see every now and then in the news with Batman. And thinking that he could have some form of connection with the guy made you scarce to get out of Bludhaven quickly.

"Taking the bus again is too dangerous. We need to find a place to hide out for the night. I know one, but it might be a little different from last time I was there." Danica mumbled, grabbing you by the hand and ran to the front of the bus to get your bikes off of the front of the bus. Only they were gone, stolen.

"You're joking, right?" You mumbled, though her response to the action was a little more violent to an annoyed mumbled. She straight up sped forwards to a wall and punched it pretty hard, you could hear some knuckles popping.

"Sorry kids, I'll call it in. You'll probably get your bikes back in a week or two." The man apologized before closing the bus doors.

"We're not kids." She muttered under her breath, an annoyed look to her face as she rubbed her now red knuckles in her injury free hand.

"Woah, chill out hothead." You mumbled, walking up to the girl and putting a hand over her shoulder, at this she flinched and yanked your hand off of her. She looked even more enraged by this action. Which confused you, because she kept grabbing your hand and your arm and running off but the moment you try to calm her down she gets offended?

"Do not touch me."
"Excuse me?!" You shot back, leaning forwards in her face, leaving inches apart from the two of you. She reminded you too much of someone you knew, and it was bothering you. And you're pretty sure the two of you are related somehow, man this is so confusing.

"Nevermind. Come on, let's go." she says before grabbing your hand and running off.
"We have to find a way to avoid street cameras. Hope you're not afraid of heights." She says, running you towards a large building with a ladder on the side of it.
"What's that suppose to mean?" You shot her a look. Only to realize what she meant.

*

"Bruce, she's in Bludhaven now. I haven't seen anything on the cameras to where she was. So I'll take the roof tops and Tim takes the ground, you can look in between." Dick says, turning on his escrima sticks and watching the sparks light up. Usually Bruce is the one to make the rules and give orders, but since it was in Bludhaven Dick was the one to call the shots this time around.

"And the girl she's with?" Tim asked, sliding on the cape to his suit and latching it in.
"With her. Bruce do you want them both brought in? I doubt they separated apart though." Dick asked, leaning against the wall of the cave. Water dripping on his forehead from a stalactite above him. He crinkled his nose and wiped the water droplet off.

"Good idea. The more we know the better." He says, Damian on the other side of the room in his casual attire which consisted of loose jeans and red converse with a grey T-shirt. Damian glared at his father, Bruce didn't seem to care at this point because he's gotten this look from Damian several times when he's told he goes too far.

Damian was getting the stitches in his hand re done by Alfred, leaning on his non injured hand, well aside from the bruised knuckles, but that's it.

"If they're related I'm quitting. I can't deal with two (y/n)'s. I'll even stop going to the academy and learn at home instead." Damian yells across the cave, at this Dick can't help but laugh.

"If you need to find another Robin, Grayson is childish enough to do it again." Damian added, trying to piss the taller man off. At the statement it worked, slightly.
"You realize by saying that, you admitted that you're childish, right? Because you're Robin right now, and you practically just said anyone who's Robin is a childish person." Tim said, a smirk casting over his lips. Which is unusual for him right now, considering what he's going through.

"At least I didn't name myself after a resturant." Damian snaps back. Tim was about to say something, but Bruce's loud yelling cut them off.

"Enough, we're leaving now and we're going to get this finished with and over. Even if she needs to be locked up in a cell down here in the Batcave, it will be done. It wouldn't be permanent but it would only be long enough until it gets through her head how serious this is." Bruce didn't  really yell, but his voice was loud and deep and it signalled the brothers to stop arguing and get to work.

Tim and Dick left, on their way to Bludhaven. Bruce stopped by Damian, his son, before putting the cowl on over his face.

"If I see you out there tonight I'll-"
"What, Father, you'll ground me?" Damian quickly cut his father off, Bruce put his hand on his sons shoulder and gripped.

"Yes actually, that's exactly what I'll do." Was the last thing he said before sliding on the cowl and leaving.

Damian sat in his spot, the needle Alfred threaded through his hand didn't help the situation.
He started to grind his teeth together, a habit he had since he was a kid.
"Master Damian, I know what you're thinking and I can't stop you from doing certain actions. But be aware whatever happens I will tell Master Bruce." Alfred said, Damian cringed, knowing how true this was.

"I know."

He glanced at his suit in the open glass case. He would wait until Alfred was asleep to leave the manor. He didn't like to think about it, but he honestly didn't know if he'd have another chance to get out of the house tonight. Deep inside, he's pretty sure he's going to pass out within the hour due to everything that's been going on. Just him being so stressed and overwhelmed. It's taking a toll on him, even as much as he tries to ignore it. He can't ignore the ringing headache you had been giving him all night.

You're driving him crazy, and it didn't bother him as much as he thought it would. And if this isn't him being bothered by it too much, then he doesn't wanna find out what it's like to be completely and utterly bothered to hell by you.

Not to mention, the idea of you having a relative with you.

a/n: This chapter is also short but its two chapters in one day so hey that's good i guess, sorry if this was all rushed i'm just so tired and bored right now.

Comment your opinion on Danica Gray? It would help ^-^ I'm curious to see how people think of her so far, and the name in the story "Jaison" is suppose to be spelled with an I and not a Y, because I'm gonna start bringing Jason up in this fic a little more as the red hood
