Chapter fourteen

You wished it was only the Joker who showed up to the carnival. If only it were that simple. It would have been so much easier that way. Instead, you're looking at your blood stained hands, on the ground to your knees. Holding the guilty hands that dripped in the thick, warm liquid in front of your body. You had Tears streaming down your face, no noises came out of your mouth aside from the heavy panting from your mouth. Your shoulders and chest shook heavily as sweat rolled down the sides of your face, the crackling of the fire behind you making it hard to focus.

Your left eye twitched, staring at Aloras broken arm in fear. That was the least of it though.

There was a small boulder smashed into her face, caving her skull in and smashing her brain. It killed her.

You killed her.

*
[hours before.]

"Wooooo! Colin put your hands up, you're suppose to!" You yelled, the air in your own face and Colin's as he gripped the safety bar in front of you two, he was the only one who agreed to go on the rollercoaster with you and he regretted his decision as soon as the first drop had happened.

His response? High pitched screams. And the pizza. And he liked roller coasters, just not this one.

You, Damian, Colin, Maria, Alora and one of Damian's brother's, Tim all had gone together. Tim was kinda forced to go, and Damian didn't seem to like it one bit. At all. If you had a dollar for every time they picked a fight, yelled at each other, or even glared. You'd be three times richer than Bruce Wayne.

Okay, not really. But the point has been made, right?

In all honesty, you've only seen Tim a few times He's really handsome, and that's putting it lightly. Yes, he's a couple years older than you. Yes, he's Damian's older brother. And yes, your girlfriend is literally standing with him right now talking about the carnival while Damian broods in the Teacup ride.

This is probably the first time you've ever had a real good look at his face too. The light blue eyes that greeted you politely, the soft smile he gave you when introducing himself. The way his hair was parted down the middle, the shiny black locks he'd sometimes move out of his eyes. He was so much more polite than Damian. You remember how Damian introduced himself, through insult.

How Tim did? Through compliment. It was so weird, to think this guy's Damian's older brother.
Don't get this wrong, you don't have a thing for him. Yeah, he's aesthetically pleasing to look at. And he's actually pretty polite, as mentioned earlier. He's just really pretty and it makes you feel weird. He's got no right being that pretty, he's literally the definition of the word "pretty boy" and you're not even going to say it because everyone knows.

While at the top of the ride, you could have sworn you saw Danica in the distance. You can't really mistake her tall, short black haired form. Even when the sun was pointed in her direction, you saw the faintest shade of (e/c) in the distance. She was with a boy though, but it was pretty hard to tell. The other person had shoulder length hair, just a little bit longer than Danica's. But it was tied back messily. So it could have been a girl. But at this distance, it was nearly impossible to tell if that was even Danica.

So you waited until you got off, leaving a puking Colin next to a trashcan right outside the exit lane of the ride. Immediately you extended a hand in the air as you ran off to go find Danica and her mystery boy, or girl. Signalling Damian that you were leaving, since he was so persistent on following you everywhere.

Alora noticed this first, stopping the conversation she was having with Tim about Gotham University, all of her questions about the school. She found out he went there currently, and wanted to know everything about it since that's where she's planning on going. Then again once Tim informed her this was only his first year in college, he wasn't really the person to go to for advice.

Alora briskly walked over to Damian, who was standing funny and dizzy. Maria laughing at the boy, knowing this was her one chance to do it and get away with it. Tim had convinced him to go on the teacups. Alora had waited a second until he regained focus, giving the boy a light smile and tugging the sleeve of his shirt and pointing to the extended hand in the distance that got further and further.

"Thanks." He replies, taking off in the direction you ran. This is when Colin was able to walk, wiping his chin with the collar of his shirt, he came over to Tim and Alora. His eyelids were somewhat heavy over his eyes, he was feeling lightheaded. Maria cringed a bit, but then laughed afterwords due to seeing Colin like this. He was probably too dizzy to see her staring at him, so she took her advantage.

"Where'd they go?" Colin asks, rubbing his red hair. He gave Alora a look of confusion, watching the short blonde girl shrug her shoulders. The light blue summer dress with yellow and white sunflowers crinkles slightly as she moved, closing her soft blue eyes while shrugging. She didn't talk much, but it's not like she never spoke at all. This is mostly because she gets severe headaches every now and then that prevent her from being able to do much, and limiting her actions limits the possibility of a headache. And these aren't just I can't get out of bed, headaches. They are, I'm going to blackout, headaches.

"On the top of the ride she stopped yelling, not the breathe but she just looked off into the distance when it stopped and got ready for the drop. We should follow them? Don't know what she was looking at, but the grin on her face kinda creeped me out." Colin shuddered, Tim nodded and Alora also Maria agreed. The three made their way over to you and Damian.

You, on the other hand. didn't wait a single second to slow down or drop your pace. The moment Danica was in your sights you launched yourself at the taller girl and wrapped your arms up over her shoulders, hugging her and grinning with closed eyes while you shoved your head in the space over her shoulder.

"(Y/n) let go of me?!" She yelled in response, moving around but you clung onto her tightly, this is when Damian caught up to the two of you.

"No, what happened to you?! I woke up in holding and you were gone." You replied, only hugging the taller girl tighter. You could feel her cringing, anymore and she'd pull a muscle in her neck. Guess she wasn't one for physical contact.

"Ugh- I cannot breathe." She managed to mumbled out, voice raspy as she tried to pry you off of her. But it didn't work, you only loosened your grip over her a little bit but you didn't let go of her.
At this point, Tim and Alora and Maria and Colin caught up. To say the least, Alora got a little jealous. But then she saw the eyes on the girl, and the nose. And immediately knew the two of you were related. No reason to be worried.

"What can I say? I make friends fast." You said, pulling apart from her, she dusted off a shoulder as if you had just thrown dirt over her. You knew that she was naturally kinda arrogant, straight up rude sometimes. Much like Damian. So you were kinda used to this and not shocked by it.

She pushed a lock of thick black hair behind her ear, showing three pierced opal studs in an ear. You grinned, pulling back strands of hair and revealed two piercing holes. At this, she gave you a playful smirk and nodded. It was odd, but it felt pretty cool. Kinda like the two of you were getting along even better now.

[Damian's p.o.v]

Damian crossed his arms, a blank look on his face as he tapped a foot against the ground. He hadn't officially met the girl yet, but all he knew about her is that she was trouble, and related to you in some way. Which made sense if she was trouble.

He stared past her, a taller boy stood behind her. He had hair so blonde, it was practically white and hurt his eyes to look at in the direct sun. Same goes for his skin. He had piercing red eyes, odd. Hold on, alabaster skin, red eyes, blonde hair so light it's almost white? This kids albino. He shouldn't really be calling him a kid though, at the very least he's seventeen or eighteen.

"Oh, yeah I forgot. None of you have really been introduced. This is Danica Gray, she won't tell me her last name but told her first and middle. Good enough for me," You paused and shrugged your shoulders. Damian scoffed, looking in Tim's direction only to scoff again. Of course, he was listening carefully with that stupid smile on his face directed towards you. It's what he does when he wants someone to know he's listening to them. As Tim drake, that is. But as Red Robin, it's kinda different. He's such a polite bastard, it just pisses Damian off that he's pulling the same thing with you. He didn't know why it bothered him so much, part of him knew this was how Tim really was.

"She's my.." Damian noticed you trailed off, did you not know what she was to you? Not a sister? Not a cousin? Not an aunt? Could be an aunt, not likely though. Maria gave you a bit of an upset look, Damian saw this and tried not to think into it. He understood why she gave you the look.

" Very distant cousin." Danica finished, looking in the other direction. Almost like she wanted to avoid talking about her family at all. Even more so, the entire time she was here she avoided looking at Damian or Time at all. She would glance at Colin, but it was different when she did so. She would look away the second he caught her staring. Annoying.

"Yeah. But I don't know him so eh." You replied to her, shrugging your shoulders. Damian let out a chuckle, was he beginning to rub off on you? If so, then that's amusing.

"Eh?" The boy replied, crossing his arms as a lock of blondish white hair fell in front of his eyes, it was parted down the middle much like Tim's was. The hairline on his head was hard to see though, due to the black baseball cap he wore on over his head. But it was still evident due to the direction the hairs in the back of his head were sticking out that he had it tied up in the back.

"Oh, Ben's my half brother. We don't like talking about it but when you get down to it, my mother had some issues. So we don't have the same father." Danica said, shrugging her shoulders while speaking as if this was no big deal. But mentioned she didn't like talking about it. Her mother had an affair?

Alora had looked at you, biting down on her lower lip at the mention of the possible affair. She knew it was stupid, but it gave her the thought that maybe you would do something like that. Alora's not a stupid girl, she knows about your past. But gave you a chance anyways.

Damian saw this, the way Alora looked at you. The fear locked in the blue eyes behind dark curled lashes. Damian once cared about her, it was temporary of course. But they're still friends. Granted they don't talk as much as he and Colin do. But he still saw the petite blonde as one of his friends. May not be the closest, but no less. A friend.

If she gets hurt by (Y/n), it's her own damn fault for being so foolish. Surely she knows how she is, right? Damian told himself. Shaking his head, he kept looking at Ben with a narrow look to his eyes. He wore a black and blueish green flannel over the plain black T-shirt with dark jeans and red converse. He had his hands jammed into his pockets, and he was giving Alora and Colin and Maria a friendly expression. He was pretty expressive when he spoke, used lots of faces. Whereas Danica would usually keep a blank or annoyed one depending on what the topic was.

Damian took note, neither Danica or Ben would look either himself or Time directly in the face. Whenever one of them looked at him or Time, it was only in between the eyes or the nose. They never made eye contact. But they made eye contact between everyone else. Even though Danicas sunglasses, which werent that dark, the two boys could still tell they didn't feel comfortable looking at them.

Danica pushed up her vintage looking pink cat-eye glasses, Damian really got a vintage feeling off from the girl. He assumed, based on her bitter and cold personality, that she'd wear dark colors. But she was wearing light pink sunglasses, light pink boots with a dark brown sole on the bottom. She wore washed denim shorts with daisies on them, a black crop top that came up all the way over her collarbones due to the strange Gotham heat that would probably be gone tomorrow morning. She wore long black socks that stopped right below her knee, and on her back she carried a drawstring backpack that was loaded and packed, sharp points evidently sticking her sides due to the bag.

But what stuck out the most on her body? What gave him the biggest clue that she was from a loaded family? The choker necklace she wore. There were diamonds all over it. When he thought that Danica gave him a vintage feeling, this was the only non-vintage thing about it. Time noticed this too.

She didn't really wear makeup maybe she wore mascara. But who knows?

That's when the group split up.

Damian didn't know what was going on at first, but You had grabbed his hand along with Time and Alora while Colin and Ben and Maria and Danica went off in the different direction.

[Your p.o.v]

"Sorry, didn't wanna separate you two. Ya' know, brotherly love." You joked, nudging Damian in the side while the four of you sat on the ferris wheel. It hadn't started moving yet, because the four of you had just gotten on. But it was the biggest one in the park. Of course, Alora was the one to drag the three of you on it.

"Tt." Damian responded, Time gave you a light smile. "The thought is...appreciated." He replied, by now he was pretty sure you found it obvious the two didn't get along. But he still found it amusing you didn't want to separate the two siblings. Even if he knew it was to annoy Damian.

"Lighten up, Damian." Tim mumbled.
"Drake, I'll hold you over the edge when we get to the top."
"If you're even strong enough." Tim  replied cooly, causing both you and Alora to laugh in response. He leaned backwards where he sat, held his hands behind his head and gave his brother a smirk.

You could see smoke in the distance, when the wheel started to rise up.
