T H I R T Y - O N E
"Y/N." Ms. Norbury calls right as I enter the room.
I tilt my head, confusion evident in my expression. I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything. Besides that one time-
She chuckles, pushing her glasses up. "You aren't in trouble."
"Phew." I release a breath, smiling shyly. "What is it then?"
She holds out the math test from yesterday, happinesses and pride evident in her features. "The best grade you've ever got."
97%?
"Woah —." I grab onto the paper.
"Did you finally study or?" She grinned, pushing up her glasses again.
"I guess I finally paid attention." I shrug then jump. "—Not that I don't or anything, math is just usually boring.. ok I'll stop talking."
Ms. Norbury chuckles. "Good job you big silly, you also got the best out of the class."
"You're kidding?"
"Nope! You even beat the mathletes." She pat my arm. "Now, go sit down."
"Don't I get an award?" I smirk a bit, I knew she wouldn't give me anything but why not push?
She playfully rolls her eyes then looks through her desk and pulls out a sucker. "Here, but don't expect this again."
"Thank you!" I take it from her, smiling childishly.
"Just don't let it distract you." She smiles, then directs her attention to the next student walking in.
I walk over to my seat next to Cady, she was upset looking and slouched in her seat.
"What happened? Did something between you-." I gesture to Aaron with my pencil. "Happen?"
"No, I'm failing!" The redhead whined. "In my favourite subject, this.. fucking sucks!" She paused, normally not saying things like 'fuck.'
"Are you purposely failing?" I asked. I knew she was, it was pretty obvious, but I asked anyways.
"What?" She yelped. "I'm.. not."
"Okay.." I trailed off, not wanting to push her any further.
The bell then rings and Cady huffs then faces the front of the class, her eyebrows furrowed together.
I sigh then run my fingers through my hair, looking at the front of the class as well.
"I can't believe her — I mean she's totally failing me on purpose!" Cady exclaims, throwing her hands in the air.
I looked up at her, currently laying on Regina's floor, I mean it was soft. "What do you mean?" I tilted my head.
She sighs through her nose. "Well, She was like, 'Imma pusher Cady, I push people.'" She deepened her voice while doing an impression of Ms. Norbury.
Regina giggled. "Hahah! Like a drug pusher?"
"She gave Y/N a sucker." Karen glanced uneasily at me. "Y/N DO YOU FEEL HIGH!?"
"No?" I sat up, genuine confusion written all over my gaze. "I don't think she is —."
"Oh hush." Regina snaps, rolling her eyes.
I huff as a response, then fall back onto the floor.
Gretchen looked sympathetically at me, then handed Cady the Burn Book so she could write it down, and Karen was still glancing at me uneasily, as if I'd jump at her in any moment.
A lot of things raced through my mind. I had to tell Regina soon. But when..? Not now, we're all together. Someone, specifically Cady could overhear. God, I should've just told her earlier.
"What're you thinking of, Y/N?" Regina looks over her bed then down at me.
I looked up at her, meeting her gaze. Of course, I felt fluttery as a response. "Nothing."
"Come on." She flips her hair. "Tell me~."
I shook my head. "I'm just staring off into space."
Regina scoffs then rolls her eyes. "Okay." She crosses her arms then lays back onto her bed.
I have to tell her soon. Hopefully tomorrow.
