Through Fire And Pain

No one was sure what to do, they didn't know if hiding Phantom from this thing would work. From what Phantom said it always managed to find him so hiding him might not do anything and they couldn't hide him forever. For now they were keeping him in the mountain, he wasn't even allowed to leave in case the man was waiting for him.

Robin stayed with his as much as possible and Phantom appreciated it, he didn't want to be alone at the moment. The team tried to stay close, or even just talk to him, but Phantom was still mad and didn't want to be around them. Red Tornado had been told about what was going on and was charged with the task of keeping an eye on Phantom.

If the team wasn't there Red Tornado was and Phantom tried to keep himself occupied so he wouldn't have a panic attack. Most of the time he either read books or watched TV because it was a good distraction, it made him focus on something. He still wasn't sleeping well since he felt like the man might show up any minute and the thought alone terrified him.

The only thing that kept him completely calm was Robin so the hero never left Phantom's side unless he had to. The Leaguers that knew about what was going on tried to think of a way to help Phantom and stop this guy. They ran every idea by Phantom, so far none of them were likely to work and Phantom didn't think anything would.

He knew this guy well enough to know that traps or high tech security would do little to nothing to stop him. Right now Phantom was watching TV and he was having trouble keeping his eyes open, he was exhausted. He checked the time, Robin should get to the mountain soon, he was too tired to get up when the zeta tube announced Robin's name.

The hero walked into the room and saw Phantom sitting on the couch looking half dead from sleep deprivation. Robin walked over and sat next to Phantom, "You okay?"

Phantom sighed, "I'm tired."

Robin looked worried, "Have you eaten at all today?"

Phantom was silent, in truth he hadn't even thought about the fact that he should eat so he had basically been starving all day. Robin knew Phantom hadn't and he stood up, "Give me a second."

Robin went into the kitchen and grabbed some food really quickly and brought it into the living room. Robin handed him something to eat and Phantom knew better then to argue so he just ate what he was given. He and Robin ended up watching a random show and after they were done eating Phantom fell asleep with his head on Robin's shoulder.

Robin wasn't going to complain either, Phantom needed sleep and the halfa never did when he was alone anymore. Unfortunately Robin had to get up eventually since he had to talk to the other heroes about what they should do. Things couldn't go on like this much longer, Phantom was slowly falling apart because of this.

He moved carefully so he wouldn't wake up Phantom and left him on the couch to sleep until he got back. Phantom wasn't sure how long he slept, when he woke up he still felt a bit tired but less tired then he had been. Then he noticed something was off, it wasn't because Robin was gone or the TV was now off.

It felt warm but it sent chills down Phantom's spine, someone was in the room with him and it wasn't one of the heroes. Phantom immediately turned toward the presence and the man was there, staring at him like every single time he appeared. Phantom immediately got up and moved away from him, he wasn't supposed to be here, he couldn't be here.

Meanwhile, Red Tornado had been keeping an eye on the cameras in the mountain when he saw something strange. The first thing he noticed was Phantom's sudden panic and alarm, then he saw the black figure standing in the room. He immediately called the team and Leaguers, they ran to get to the living room, this couldn't be happening.

Phantom was terrified, he was in the mountain, he hadn't thought he'd come here, at least not now. Phantom kept backing up until he hit something, in his subconscious he knew it was the kitchen counter. He barely registered the fact that it was the counter because it only meant one thing now, he was trapped.

The man was still staring at Phantom, they hadn't broken eye contact even though Phantom had been moving. The heroes soon ran into the room but neither of them looked away, not even for a second, they were both completely still. However something did come to mind for Phantom, something he had never thought when he encountered this man.

He was going to be okay, everything was going to be fine, he wasn't as afraid now that the heroes were here, though Robin was most of the reason he felt calm. Just when Phantom felt like he might be able to breathe again the man moved, he fucking moved. There was a slight spark of curiosity in his eyes before he took a step forward and he walked directly toward Phantom.

His movements were slow, deliberate, and it freaked Phantom out more then when he stood perfectly still. The heroes had no idea what to do, Robin was the first to snap out of it, he threw a disk at the man but it didn't work. It was like it went through him and it stuck in the opposite wall, Artemis tried shooting an arrow at him.

He actually caught it and the arrow melted in his hand before he dropped the molten metal on the floor. That whole time he never stopped staring at Phantom, he never stopped walking, and the heroes couldn't do anything else before he reached Phantom. He stopped directly in front of Phantom and kept staring at him, Phantom had stopped breathing at this point.

Phantom felt like he was dying again but not by electrocution, by fire, like the one from when he was little. Batman suddenly threw some pellets at him, everything they touched iced over and he didn't seem to like it. He disappeared in a cloud of black smoke and Phantom fell to his knees, it hurt to breathe.

Robin ran over to see if Phantom was okay, he was pale and shaking which worried Robin a hell of a lot. He hugged the halfa and Phantom was trying to control his breathing as the heroes stood there. First he showed up at the school, then during a mission and now at the mountain, this place wasn't safe anymore, they needed to move Phantom somewhere else.
