CHAPTER 22

"Are you ok!" Adam asked as I came to in the hospital bed.

"Yeah I think so." I slowly responded rubbing my head.

The doctor entered with a load rap on the door."Well Violet you are very lucky to be alive your head bounced off that window pretty hard."

"Is my baby okay?" I asked panic filling my voice.

"Well when the paramedic opened the door you had your arms wrapped around your stomach and from the bruises on them, it may very well be what saved it. We did Amy ultrasound and everything's fine, you're both very lucky. " I burst into tears of joy and Adam hugged me and started to cry.

"We still have our baby! Wait...hows my mom?"

"Oh uhhh..." the doctor started towards me.Adam put his hand on the back of his head and walked slowly towards the door but staying in the room.

"Hows my mother?!" I screamed!

"Violet...your mom didn't have her seat belt on she went through the windshield and landed on the trunk of the other car." I put my hand over my mouth.

"Your mother died on the way to the hospital, I'm so sorry."

"OH MY GOD!" I couldn't breath, then I started screaming. Adam ran over to me and hugged me. I started  sobbing and weakly pushed him away, kicked off the blankets, and got up they had already taken my I.V. out after giving me some fluids. I walked out of the room looking for my father.

"Violet!" Adam yelled as he came towards me. I walked on in a stupor like I was drunk. My dad saw me and got up wrapping hits arms tightly around ma and I started to cry even harder."Violet you need to get back in bed." Someone told me.

"I know but...where's Caroline?"

"She's in your mom's room, she's still on life support." My dad responded weakly.

"But I thought she died."

"She did but Caroline thinks she is just badly hurt."

"Where is mom's room?" Adam took my hand and walked me over to room 13. I walked in and  Caroline was crying.

"She's dead isn't she?" I  heard her cracking voice say. I walked over to her and hugged her. "I didn't even get to say goodbye."

"I know I didn't either none of us did." I answered softly.

"But at least you were with her."

"How is the baby do we still have it?"

"Yeah it's fine."

"At least there's some joy left in our lives" she wiped her crying eyes and sniffed. I held her hand and walked back to my room. She sat by side and Mary came in. "I'm so sorry baby girls I wish there something I could do."

"There's nothing anyone can do Mary but thank you."

"I'll give yall some time" she said then left the room. The doctor returned. "So Violet how far are you?"

"Four months."

"Oh just one more month till you find out what it is."

"Yep."

"I'm gonna get some water" Caroline said putting her hand on my shoulder as she got up.

The doctor checked my papers and then left. "Adam?"

"Yeah?"

"Are you happy with being a dad at 16?"

"Yeah I told you 4 months ago I wanted a child and still do."

"Are you  ok with being a mother at 15?"

"Yes I still want to."

"Well then." I nodded my head cause I got his point. He kissed my head and then got up. "Get some rest it's been a long day for you."

I laid my head down watching him as he went over to get another chair so he could lay by my side.
