most days i am a museum of things i want to forget
STILES WOKE UP in a dark room covered in black and red. His hands gripped the bedsheets that laid underneath, quickly realizing that this was not his room.
Well, it look's like i'm not in Kansas anymore, Toto. He grinned at his own joke as he sat up but the grin turned into a confused frown as he examined his surroundings. "Huh?" He mumbled, rubbing his eyes, surveying the room once more.
"I brought–" Stiles jumped, a scream leaving his lips, turning around quickly to face Alec who just stepped out of the shadows. "I, uh, sorry," he murmured, clearing his throat, looking at Stiles intently. "Like I said, um, I brought you here after you passed out."
"Oh, thanks." Stiles nodded, clearing his throat as he sat up straighter. "Where exactly is here?"
"Oh, um, you see, uh–" He scratched the back of his neck, his face flushing a deep red. Stiles raised his eyebrows at these actions. "This is, uh, this is my room."
"Oh," Stiles mumbled, face heating up as well because he hadn't expected this. Why couldn't he just take him to his own room? Afterall, after Stiles had arrived yesterday, they gave him a room that was right across from Clary's. "Oh, okay. Makes sense. I mean, you were just watching out for me, right?" He cleared his throat, willing away his red face.
"Right." Alec nodded, looking down for a moment before glancing back up at the Stilinski. "Uh, yeah, so, do you want to maybe, uh, take a shower or something?"
"Shower? With you?" Stiles blurted out, and his willpower over his red face went away, and he soon looked like a tomato.
"What!? N–no, that's not what I–" Alec was cut off by the door opening.
Jace walking in.
Stiles automatically jumped out of the bed and backed up a little, glaring at the blonde asshole, heart pounding harshly against his rib cage.
"You're awake," Jace stated, his blue eyes set on Stiles' defensive stance, briefly glancing to Alec who's look had hardened once the blonde walked in.
"Yeah." Stiles simply nodded, still glaring at him. "Obviously."
"Jace–" Alec started, walking away from his dark corner and closer to Stiles, getting into a protective stance slightly in front of him.
"No, Alec, I need to apologize." Jace sighed, facing Stiles directly. "Stiles, I shouldn't have pushed you like that. I don't know you–"
"That's right, you don't." Stiles stepped forward, eyes dead-set on Jace's, barring his chest. "You don't know me at all. You have no clue what I have been through or who I have lost. You–" he stepped forward and jabbed Jace in the chest angrily.
"Please forgive me, Stiles," he begged, looking from Alec to the boy who he was yelled at to apologize to. There wasn't much emotion in his voice, though, and that only angered Stiles even more.
"Forgive? Huh? As if." Stiles shook his head. "Have you ever heard of the term "Forgive and forget? I'm neither Jesus nor do I have Alzheimer's"?" I bet you haven't but that's what I'm going by right now. You have made me remember things I seriously wanted to forget. You do not deserve my forgiveness." He pushed past the blonde and walked out of Alec's room, heart pounding against his chest.
"Stiles!" The boy in question ignored the yelling voice of Alec and kept walking. "Stiles! Wait up!" Stiles pushed past a man and sped up, trying to keep away from the tall dark and handsome man. "Stiles." Alec grabbed Stiles' arm and turned him around so they could look each other in the face. "I know he shouldn't of–"
"Exactly, he shouldn't of, Alec!" Stiles exclaimed loudly, yanking his arm out of Alec's grip. "You all have no clue what I have been through, and shouldn't be pushing me to become some sort of warrior when my head is too clouded to even think clearly." He bit his lip as, looking up into bright blue eyes that were calling to him like a siren. He breathed in deeply, trying to calm his erratic heartbeat.
"Stiles, what I was gonna say was that you don't deserve the treatment that he is giving you. To be honest, I was that way to Clary when she first showed up but now, I kinda get what it's like to be the odd man out." He sighed, his right hand flying to his black hair, tugging at it lightly. Stiles' hand twitched, wanting to tug at it too. "What I'm really trying to say is that i'm here for you."
"I appreciate it, Alec, I really do." Stiles sighed heavily, his breathing starting to even out just a little. "You'll probably be the first real friend i'll ever have. I might have Simon and Clary, but Simon is so wrapped up in Clary that he won't ever notice if something wrong with me. Clary is so busy trying to help her mom, that she won't notice either. And don't get me started with the whole heart eyes towards your jackass of a brother." Stiles closed his eyes, gulping as he forced back tears. "I have lost everyone I ever really cared about. My mother, my father, my best friends, just friends in general." He rubbed a hand down his face, looking up at Alec through watery eyes and long eyelashes.
"I'm so sorry, Stiles, and get that I never say sorry."
"I guess that makes me special, then," Stiles mused, smiling up at the slightly older boy who was only about four inches taller than him.
"Yeah, I guess you are." Alec smiled down at him, his eyes shining a little brighter as they stood there, staring at each other.
It felt like minutes but really was only seconds as the two of them stood there, looking intently into one another's eyes.
"Uh," Someone cleared their throat, a small chuckle leaving said person. Alec and Stiles jumped away from each other to turn around to face Izzy who had her arms crossed and a smirk on her face. "Sorry for interrupting but Jace is throwing a fit and I wanted to come check up on Stiles to make sure he was in one piece. And from what I can tell, he is perfectly fine." She looked directly as Alec and gave him a look before walking away, giving Stiles a wink as she turned the corner.
"Women," Stiles mused, shaking his head before turning to Alec who was blushing deeply. "What?"
"Oh, uh, nothing. Nothing. I'm fine." Stiles rose one brow at him, silently questioning him. "Uh, I gotta —I gotta go." He turned around, stumbling slightly as he ran away from the younger boy.
"Okay..." Stiles trailed off, scratching the back of his neck, confused. "It's official, men confuse me more than women. Ha! Thought I'd never say that."
