The whole city shakes in fear because of one name: Bangtan.

Everyone knows they're the menacing group of men who kill off anyone who slights them, but no one knows who exactly they are. Their identities remain hidden.

Y/N, too, didn't know who they were until one fateful night, she encountered the very leader of the most dangerous mafia, Jeon Jungkook. Their meeting wasn't a pleasant one for she found him bleeding and laying unconsciously in an alleyway, and went out of her way to help him, not knowing who he really was.

Since then, she has been running into him every now and then. For months, she has been able to avoid infuriating him for the sake of her life after knowing his identity and not only that, she has been acting kind towards him and his men. For the sake of her life, obviously.

That has been an unusual occurrence for the mafia leader for he had grown up to be a cold man like his father, the predecessor.

He has become aware that he was starting to fall for her who was melting his cold heart, but he never wanted her to get entangled in the mafia mess.

"Y/N."

Jungkook appears out of the shadows and Y/N's soul nearly leaves her body.

"J-Jungkook? What are you doing here... in my room?" She whispers the last part with a tremulous voice, fearing for her life. 'So this is how I die,' she thinks.

"Y/N," the mafia leader repeats in a hushed tone and sits beside her on the bed, eyes locked with hers. "You know the dangerous life I live, don't you?"

She nods in silence, heart still shaking in prospective danger. 'Great,' she thinks to herself, 'he thinks I'll reveal his secrets now. I wasn't even able to participate in competitive eating contest before dying. Rats!'

Jungkook suddenly grabs her hands, sending shivers (the bad ones) down her spine. "In my cold hard world, you're the only warm thing that soothes my soul... That's why I don't want to let you go."

She gulps as a thought overwhelms her. 'I'm never seeing the sunlight again even if I hated that raging ball of fire.'

He bites his lips and tightens his hold while whimpering, "But... if I drag you into this mafia mess, I'll only hurt you... This is too dangerous... You should stay away from me, Y/N."

She blinks for a few times. "Ah... okay..."

Thus, Jungkook leaves Y/N alone to 'protect' her and she never goes after him since she values her life and sees no reason to get mixed up in the dangerous and hidden life of mafias. It doesn't mean Jungkook doesn't watch over her and cares for her well-being. In reality, things turned out the way she wanted them to.
