Chapter 5: Meeting The Game Grumps

You know, I'm feeling pretty damn excited.

I'm gonna get to not only meet the rest of the Game Grumps, I'm gonna get to film a video with the two most wonderful people in the world!

I'm smiling ear to ear, bouncing up and down in my seat.

Arin notices me doing this from the driver's seat. He looks at me out of the corner of his eye and smiles. "Excited?" he asks.

"Are you kidding? I haven't felt this excited in years!" I say. "This'll be the best therapy for me!" What I just said reminds me of my parents, so my smile gets a bit smaller. But it's still there, and I'm still excited.

"Who are you most excited to meet, (Y/N)?" Dan questions from the backseat. "Animals included."

"Hmmm..," I hum in thought. I finally decide on (I'm gonna say who I wanna meet most, but if you wanna meet another person more, then you can change it) Ross. He seems like a chill human being. "Probably Ross," I say. "He's a cool guy."

"Understandable," Dan says back. "Ross is pretty cool."

Arin stops the car, since we're at a red light. He drums his fingers impatiently on the wheel and mumbles, "Come on, you stupid light. Change."

"Why are you being so impatient?" I ask, giggling slightly. "It's just a red light that'll take about fifteen seconds to change."

"I'm just...excited for you to meet the rest of the Game Grumps," Arin says with a smile at me. "It'll be great for us all to become friends and crap."

I smile. "I'm excited too. But I'm pretty sure that it wouldn't kill us to wait a few seconds."

"It'll kill me," Arin mumbles to himself.

I roll my eyes.

Shortly after, the light turns green.

"YES!" Arin yells and pretty much floors the gas, creating this "vrrrmmmmn" sound.

The sudden acceleration presses my back against the seat.

"Easy there, buddy!" Dan says from the backseat. "You don't need to go 100 miles an hour."

"You're right!" Arin says with a mischievous smirk. "I need to go 200!"

Arin then picks up his speed even more, which makes me even more stuck to my seat. I then begin to feel queasy because of the sudden accelerations. "Oh boy..," I mumble.

"What's wrong?" Dan asks.

"Arin's horrible driving is making me wanna hurl," I answer honestly.

Arin scoffs and slows down a little, making me sigh with relief. "Fine. If your stomach is too weak to handle my intense and awesome driving, then—"

"Excuse me?" I cut him off, looking at him with a "bruh" look.

"I'm gonna vouch for (Y/N) here and point out the fact that you threw up when riding a roller coaster for little kids," Dan says. "All over me, might I add."

I laugh, looking at Arin.

"THAT WAS AFTER I HAD FIVE ICE CREAMS!" Arin yells. "WHO WOULDN'T THROW UP ON A RIDE AFTER EATING THAT MUCH?"

"Um..," Dan says. "It was actually only one..."

Arin sighs, having been caught lying. "Well, that ice cream was heavy as hell in my stomach. It felt like five."

"Who has the weak stomach now?" I smirk.

   "You," Arin grumbles.

A few minutes pass, and Arin pulls into the driveway of what looks like nothing more than a huge house. I gotta admit, when I was picturing what the Game Grumps' office looks like, I was imagining a huge building with the word "GameGrumps" on the side of it. But, come to think of it, if that were the case, fans could find and harass the Game Grumps super easily. So it's probably for the best it looks the way it does.

"Is this it?" I ask excitedly.

Arin nods. "Yep. And I know it's not as big as you'd expect, but it's where all our business gets done."

"I don't care how big it is!" I say. "The only thing I care about is getting in there!" I then yeet myself out of the car, Dan and Arin getting out like normal people shortly after me.

Us three walk to the front door. Arin pulls out his keychain and unlocks the door, opening it afterwards.

That's when a wave of anxiety washes over me. I'm about to meet multiple famous people. And who knows? Maybe I'll even be seen as an outsider. Maybe I won't be welcome.

Before I can back out, Arin walks in and announces, "Everyone, I have someone I'd like you to meet!"

The rest of the Game Grumps are all sitting at their own personal desk in the room. They look up from their work. They then see me standing outside and their eyes lock onto mine. They're probably judging me already.

I open my mouth to say that I have to go, but Dan grabs my hand and pulls me inside. "Don't be nervous. These people are super nice," he whispers to me.

"Guys, this is (Y/N)," Arin says, walking over to me and putting a hand on my shoulder. "She's a fan of ours, and Dan and I are now friends with her. She's here to film a 10 Minute Power Hour with us."

I appreciate how Arin doesn't mention my parents. A certain sadness presses down on my heart, since I just reminded myself again of what happened to them. I force a smile and say, "Hey guys."

My sadness is replaced by nervousness and ecstasy as Allie gets up from her desk and walks over to me. She's always been one of my favorites too. My brain flicks back to the "nut" joke that her and Dan share, and I almost laugh. But I'm too nervous to laugh right now.

Allie gives me a friendly smile and holds out her hand. "Hey, (Y/N)! It's nice to meet you! I'm Allie. You probably already know that, though..."

I smile, trying to seem as normal as possible. "Yeah, I know who you are. It's nice to meet you too, Allie!" I say, grabbing her hand and shaking it.

That's when the rest of the Game Grumps smile, seeing how I'm not a complete weirdo. They get up from their chairs and form a line just to say hi to me and introduce themselves. Huh. This is ironic, considering they're the famous people and I'm just your average Joe.

I say hi to everyone (including Ross ((or whoever you wanted to meet most)), scree) and ignore the "I told you so" looks from Dan. Once the introductions are done, Arin grabs my hand and begins to lead me somewhere.

"Come on! Let's go to the Power Hour room!" he says. He looks back and notices that Dan isn't following us. "Dan, you coming?" he asks.

Dan glances at Allie, who he was talking with, and says to Arin, "I've actually gotta tell Allie something. I'll catch up to you both in a bit."

Arin knits his eyebrows together in confusion. "Okay..," he says slowly, beginning to lead me to the Power Hour room again.

"I wonder what they're talking about," I say. I said it more to myself than to Arin, but Arin answers anyway.

"Who knows?" Arin says. "It's Dan and Allie, for God's sake. It could be anything."

Then it looks like a lightbulb went off in Arin's head. A small smirk crosses his face, and he keeps glancing back at Allie and Dan, who aren't talking yet. They're just watching us leave.

"What's with the face?" I ask, referring to the smirk that's on Arin's face.

He smiles to himself and simply says, "Don't worry about it."

Now it's my turn to say "okay" slowly.

We get to the Power Hour room, and Arin gives me a quick tour.

But now the tour's over, and Allie and Dan still aren't back.

"Ugh, What the hell are they doing in there?" Arin groans. "Eating a five course meal?" He flops onto the little couch in the room in exasperation.

I laugh and sit down next to him. "They'll be back soon, Arin. Calm down."

As if on cue, Allie and Dan walk into the Power Hour room, Dan red-faced, and Allie laughing at something.

Allie spots me on the couch and smirks at Dan. "Hey, (Y/N), Dan says—"

"Shush," Dan hisses and covers Allie's mouth.

Allie still tries to say whatever she wanted to say through Dan's hand, but it just comes out as "mmph mmmm mph".

So, needless to say, I can't understand her.

Dan uncovers Allie's mouth, shoots her a glare, and she stops talking.

Arin definitely knows what's up. He gives Dan knowing looks, smiling.

If he knows what's up, how could I not? For real, I'm the most oblivious person that I know. Okay, lemme try to figure it out.

Maybe Dan was getting me a present and didn't want me to know about it.

Maybe Dan told Allie he likes me. Like, as more than friends.

That one seemed to fit the situation, and just that possibility made my heart flutter. Cuz I think I love Dan as well. He's so witty, funny, beautiful, comforting, sweet...

But there's no way someone as awesome as Dan can love someone like me.

Speaking of Dan, he breaks the knowing silence in the room by clearing his throat and saying, "Let's film the Power Hour!"

I nod, smiling. But the possibility of him loving me is running through my head.

   He couldn't love me.

   Could he?
