Reflection
I stare at that mirror every day,
Not at my beauty or at my reflection.
Sometimes I just stare,
And try to figure out a connection.
Between myself and her
I'm nothing like her...
She's kind, I am not.
She is happy, I am alone.
She smiles, and I just cry,
She is truthful, and I lie.
She cares, and I don't.
She'd do anything for you.
But I never could...
I look at her, deep in her eyes.
Where the blue meets the grey,
And I wonder why
she won't hear my daily prayer,
Why keep me 'happy' when
I'm everything but?
Why live in a puddle of lies
Pretending she's okay when she's not?
She can hear me, right?
I scream and I shout
Hopefully one day she'll let me out,
Because I'm nothing like her,
But you won't see it as I do
So please stop pretending to be someone you're not.
And let me be unhappy
Let me show you who you really are
And not who you've pretended
to be so far
But at night I can see her,
the way I see myself.
She lets the mask fall,
And finally faces hell.
"It took you a while," I say
"To show your true self
and now finally
I can see you like I see myself..."
A/N
This was my very first poem here, I published it a while ago I couldn't have started this book in any other way.
Thanks for reading 💖
