Not here. But Home.

Yoongi didn't want to go home and visit his parents.

The company had granted everyone permission to go home for a few days. The rapper would have stayed at a hotel or something so the members didn't get suspicious, but unfortunately it was publicly announced by the company that everyone would be visiting their parents, resulting in Yoongi's parents calling him, with his dad scolding him for not coming to visit sooner. "I know you've forgotten all about us since becoming a big star, but we're still your fucking parents," is what he had said.

The day came when everyone was departing to head home. Everyone could tell Yoongi seemed a bit more reserved about the whole ordeal.

"Aww, is Yoongi-ah going to miss us?" Jin teased.

"Aish," was Yoongi's only response. That's not even the half of it.

Yoongi never told the members about his life with his parents because he was too afraid to tell them. He was afraid of judgement and his parents made him feel like all the trouble he'd ever been in was his own fault anyway.

Taehyung hugged Yoongi, "I won't be too far away hyung! Our parents are practically neighbors! I promise to come stop by! Plus it's only for a few days, I think it will all be okay!" Taehyung gave his hyung a playful kiss on the head.

Yoongi felt nervous at the thought of Taehyung coming to visit, he'd rather go visit Taehyung's parents instead but he knew his own parents would have an issue with him going out and "avoiding the family."

"We will see what happens," Yoongi replied. Everyone hugged eachother goodbye and promised to call, text, FaceTime, etc, while they were apart. It was the only thing that would get them through.

Yoongi was shaking on the steps of his parents front door.

He went to knock but kept hesitating. He saw his hand shake every time he lifted it in the air. Suddenly the door opened and Yoongi flinched.

"My son!" Yoongi's father grabbed him into a hug and he felt like his heart was going to jump out of his chest and run away.

"H-hi dad," Yoongi said nervously. His dad told him to come in and get comfortable as his mom had just finished making dinner and was setting it on the table.

"You're just in time!" his mother replied. He looked around the house as he made his way into the kitchen, it seemed a lot cleaner and more inviting than he remembered. It didn't wreak of alcohol like it used to.

He sat at the kitchen table and his parents started bombarding him with questions about the band, his members, etc. He didn't understand why they seemed oddly nice when even their previous phone calls weren't exactly friendly.

"How's that little one doing? Wasn't he only like 12?" Yoongi's father asked. His parents had never met any of the other members, as Yoongi was determined to keep it that way. This was also the first time he came to visit his parents in so many years he could see why they weren't too updated. They didn't actually pay attention to anything the band was doing.

"The little one has a name. It's Jungkook. When we started he was 13. He's 23 now," Yoongi replied.

"Has it been that long already?" Yoongi's father asked. Yoongi nodded. "Yes, dad, it's been 10 years. Although I know you don't particularly care."

Yoongi's parents both started apologizing for not being better parents and for not paying more attention to his life or the band. They got emotional and started about how they were sorry for everything they'd done to him growing up. The screaming. The constantly kicking him out of the house when he was just a little boy. The constant beatings.

All things Yoongi had heard before.

"I stopped drinking," his dad told him.

Yoongi hadn't heard that before. He perked up and started asking a ton of questions. Then he suddenly felt angry.

"You stop now? 10 years after I'm gone? You couldn't have stopped sooner? Sooner so a little 5 year old boy didn't have to get the shit beat out of him every time he made the smallest mistake?" Yoongi asked sternly. He felt his face turning red. He was nervous to confront his father but he also couldn't resist. He was so incredibly mad.

His father started crying and apologizing more, but Yoongi didn't want to hear it. He got up and went to his old childhood room and called the members to see what they were all up to. They all seemed to be having fun. He told them he had to go when he heard yelling coming from downstairs and things breaking. He decided to creep to the top of the stairs to eavesdrop on what they were saying.

"He's your damn son!" his dad had screamed.

"You think I'm proud of that?! And he's yours too, you know!" his mom screamed back.

Yoongi felt his heart sink as he ignored the tears that started to form in his eyes. This is how it had always, and would always be. He knew that by now. Even when the band had won some of the biggest awards in the industry he never received as much as a simple text saying congratulations from his parents. They considered him a disappointment no matter what he did. They thought his role in the band was stupid. They thought he couldn't dance, sing, or rap and the band had done a disservice by keeping him.

His tears streamed faster as he overheard them yelling more about how he was a good for nothing son, and then he heard it.

"Grab me a drink," his father demanded of his mom.

Yoongi's body sunk backwards against the wall as he silently cried into his knees. I knew he wouldn't change. He hasn't kept his word about anything since the day I was born. He's never kept any kind of promise, and always changes his mind about things.

"Min Yoongi, get your ass down here now!"

Yoongi's body froze with a crippling fear. He didn't want to go down there but he knew there would be much worse consequences if he didn't. His body was shaking badly as he slowly stood up and went step by step down the stairs and into the kitchen. His dad stood there gulping down a bottle of alcohol.

"You think you can step foot in this house, and act however the hell you want to act?!" his dad screamed.

Yoongi was speechless. He didn't know what to say that wouldn't make his father more angry. A hard slap across the face sent him stumbling backwards as he grabbed his burning cheek .

"I asked you a damn question!" his father screamed.

Yoongi sniffled. He wasn't only mad at his father but at himself for letting his father treat him this way. He was a grown adult now but was still crippled by that childhood fear.

"H-how was I acting?" Yoongi asked innocently.

"I tried to be nice to you and you just get up and walk away like you own the damn place!"

"What the hell was I supposed to do?!" Yoongi yelled back in a burst of frustration, "I knew you were lying the second you started apologizing. You're not sorry! You've never been sorry! I mean look at you, saying you quite drinking and it's been 10 damn minutes and you're already holding a damn bottle in your hand! You think I'm going to listen to a word you say?!"

The rapper dropped to the floor and saw a flash of white as not his fathers, but his mothers fist collided with his face. He never had a mother to run to, she was just as bad as his father. She didn't drink like he did, but she was always so incredibly angry.

He crouched on the floor as his father took his boot and knocked him in the ribs with it. He let out a huff of air as he lost his breath.

"S-stop!" Yoongi cried, "Just leave me the hell alone! Both of you!"

"Why should we?! Huh?! You've never been anything but a piece of shit anyway! A terrible, embarrassing excuse for a son! You were nothing back then, and you're still nothing now!" his father screamed as he bent down and smacked Yoongi again.

Yoongi was able to pick himself up, he was sick of being pushed around by his father. He ran at his dad and pushed him up against the wall, "And you call yourself a parent?! You're a pathetic excuse of one!" He turned to his mom, "And what the hell kind of mother are you?! You're no better than him! Both of you will never be real parents!" Yoongi broke down sobbing as he couldn't think of anything else to say. He was too heartbroken.

Instead of settling or figuring things out, both of Yoongi's parents started beating him, and badly. His dad was even hitting him with the bottle of alcohol he was drinking from and pouring it all over him. His mother was throwing things at him that would break as they smashed into the floor. Cups, plates, lamps. The rapper took on a ton of welts and bruises as he tried to escape out of the house but his body was giving up with every new hit. Eventually he was curled up on the floor a complete mess, sobbing and screaming uncontrollably begging his parents to either stop or just kill him already.

"Get the hell back up to your room, before I make this much, much worse," his dad threatened. Yoongi had a really hard time standing up, he bent over and used the wall as support until his mother wrapped her hand around his arm and squeezed it as she dragged him up to his room and threw him inside, slamming the door behind her. He painfully crawled to his bed and curled up under the blankets, slamming his face into his pillow, screaming and crying.

He just wanted to go home. Not here. But home.

Taehyung knocked on the door to Yoongi's parents house, and was met with his parents who were red in the face and looked quite annoyed. "What do you want?"

"Uh...is Yoongi hyung here?" He held up a dish tray, "My mom made him some of his favorite food and since you live so close I told him I'd-"

"He's busy!" Yoongi's father yelled at Taehyung. Taehyung flinched backwards. He'd never actually met his hyungs parents before but wasn't getting the best first impression of them. He looked behind the two to see broken and shattered glass all over the floor, and what looked like droplets of blood going all the way up the stairs. He felt anxiety course through him.

"Is hyung okay?" Taehyung asked nervously. Yoongi's mom slammed the door shut in Taehyung's face, but Taehyung was too scared for his hyung to simply ignore what he just saw. He started banging as loud as he could on the door and demanded someone open it. "Where is he?! Where is my hyung!? Is he okay?!"

Yoongi's father came back and opened it and before he could be stopped, Taehyung ran inside and up the stairs.

"Hyung?! Yoongi hyungie?!" Taehyung screamed. He saw a door with blood on the handle and ran towards it, barging into the bedroom to see his hyung curled up in bed, bleeding from his nose, lip, and a cut under a now very black eye, sobbing into the bedsheets. Taehyung dove into the bed next to him and immediately pulled him into a hug. "Oh my God! What the hell happened?! Hyungie! Hyungie are you okay?!" Taehyung felt like he was going to throw up at the sight of his big brother and best friend in this condition. Yoongi had always been so stoic and strong. He never cried like this. He never got hurt like this.

Yoongi curled up against Taehyung's chest and cried louder. He was so terrified of his parents, and heartbroken that Taehyung was seeing him like this, but also incredibly grateful that he was there. He felt safer that way. Taehyung was keeping him warm.

"I-I-I-" Yoongi cried into Taehyung's chest, "I just don't know. I don't know." Yoongi still couldn't comprehend all that had happened. He wasn't too sure what he'd actually even done to make his parents so angry, but he was used to it. This is how it always was.

"Shh, it's okay. It's okay. Just cry if you need to. I'm here." Taehyung held Yoongi's head to his chest and rocked him, kissing his forehead over and over while his hyung continued to cry. Taehyung let his own tears fall. This was absolutely breaking his heart into pieces.

"Oh hyung, is it your parents? Did they do this to you?" Taehyung asked. Yoongi gave a slight nod as he wiped his cheeks.

Taehyung had a million and one questions about Yoongi's parents.

"Have they always been this way?"

Yoongi nodded.

"They hurt you?"

Yoongi nodded.

"This badly?"

"Y-yeah," Yoongi sniffled. He sobbed louder and Taehyung pulled him tighter as he cried harder too. He was so used to Yoongi taking care of him, he felt incredibly sick and guilty knowing now that Yoongi had never been taken care of.

"How come you never told any of us?" Taehyung asked as he started rubbing his hyungs back. Yoongi was finally starting to relax in Taehyung's arms and was talking a bit more.

"I don't know."

"Hyung, there has to be a reason. We've been your brothers for YEARS, hyungie. We all know everything about eachother. Why keep something like this from us?"

"I-I...guess I was scared. And embarrassed. I didn't want you all to know that I'm a bad son."

Taehyung gasped. "A bad son?! That's a lie and you know it! There's no way you could be a bad son! Did your parents make you think that?! Because they're liars! If anything, they're bad parents!"

"It's my fault they do this," Yoongi sniffled.

Taehyung pushed Yoongi's body down onto the bed so he was laying down, and he wiped the sweat and blood off his hyungs face. He started running his fingers gently through his hyungs sweaty hair. "It never has been, and never will be your fault. You can't ever think that."

Taehyung didn't quite know all the right words to say, he'd never been in a situation like this before. He'd never seen his hyung so hurt and broken and he felt helpless. He lay down next to Yoongi and kissed his black eye. "I love you."

"I love you too," Yoongi replied without even thinking twice.

"Ha! There is it!" Taehyung teased as he gently tried to tickle his hyungs ribs. Yoongi chuckled until he started wincing in pain. Taehyung looked at him with worry. "Do you want me to take you to the hospital?"

"No, no. I'm fine." Yoongi wiped away the last of his tears. Taehyung's presence alone had calmed him down so much that he was finally able to relax. He felt safe here. Taehyung ran his thumb down Yoongi's cheek, "You can't stay here. I won't let you. I won't let them hurt you again."

Yoongi and Taehyung both froze when they heard someone coming up the stairs and down the hall. "Tae you should leave. I don't want you to see this and I don't want them hurting you too."

"Over my dead body! They aren't hurting either of us!"

Yoongi's dad stood in the doorway and gestured to Taehyung, "It's time for you to go. I need to have a talk with my son."

Taehyung stood up, "He's leaving with me. I'm not leaving him here with you."

"Excuse me?" Yoongi's dad replied.

"Tae, please. It's...it's okay," Yoongi lied, "Just get going home."

"Do as your told, boy." Yoongi's father threatened.

Taehyung grabbed Yoongi's wrist and pulled him off the bed. "He's coming with me! He's an adult you can't tell him, or me, what to do! I'm not even your kid! I don't know why you even had kids if you can't treat them right!"

Yoongi's dad turned to his son, "This is who you're in a band with? No wonder you two get along so well. You're both little pains in the asses, I see." He turned to Taehyung, "I don't know why your parents had kids either."

"Leave him alone." Yoongi scolded his father.

"At least my parents don't do..that!" Taehyung gestured to all of Yoongi's injuries, "How could you?! He's your son! How could you do that!?You're supposed to take care of him! What the hell do you call this?! Our own members take better care of him than you two assholes! And his only hyung, Jin, would never-"

Yoongi's father gave Taehyung a slight shove and screamed at him to shut the hell up. Yoongi felt his blood boil as he got in his fathers face. "You may think you can do whatever the hell you want to me, but don't you dare ever put your hands on him or there will be hell.to.pay!"

Yoongi's father went to hit him again, but Taehyung grabbed his hyungs wrist and pulled him out of the way just in time. "I'm taking him with me!" he screamed. Yoongi's dad blew up more and screamed at his son to leave and never come back. He took Yoongi's luggage and chucked it at him. The rapper was too tired and wounded to carry it, so Taehyung grabbed it. "Will do!" Taehyung screamed at the man. He dragged his hyung out to his car and grabbed the food his mother had made.

"You're staying with me and we can head back together, okay?" Taehyung asked. He looked over to see his hyung curled up in the passenger seat crying into his knees. He leaned over and gently rubbed his hyungs knee, "Hey, it's alright. It will be alright."

"Th-they're supposed to be my parents," Yoongi cried. His heart hurt. Growing up he'd always been jealous of children who had nice, loving , and caring parents. He was even jealous of his members parents.

"I know. I'm sorry." Taehyung grabbed Yoongi's hand and held it the rest of the way back to his place. Yoongi felt embarrassed showing up with all his cuts and bruises, but Taehyung promised that his mom would help him.

When they got inside Taehyung's parents instantly surrounded Yoongi asking what happened, if he was okay, etc. Taehyung immediately started blurting out all the two had done to their son and Taehyung's parents were mortified. He left the part out about Yoongi's dad shoving him because he didn't want to make things worse.

"Oh, honey, come with me. Let's get you all cleaned up." Taehyung's mom brought Yoongi into the bathroom and when he came back out he looked so much better. No more tears or blood, and she'd put cream on his face to help with all the bruises. She also offered him some ice packs when he'd shown her the welts on his ribs too.

Taehyung's dad pulled Yoongi into a hug and said how sorry he was. "We may not be biological but just know we're still your family." The rapper got a bit teary eyed as he leaned into the mans hug. A real hug, from a real father.

Taehyung's mother told Yoongi he could stay the whole time, it was no problem, and asked if there was anything he would like to eat.

"No thank you, I'm actually really tired," Yoongi yawned. Taehyung walked his hyung up to his bedroom and helped him get comfortable. They curled up next to eachother in Taehyung's old bed.

"We should probably tell the others, hyung. I mean they're going to know as soon as we get home anyway. You can't hide those bruises."

Yoongi sighed as he realized Taehyung was right. Taehyung FaceTimed everyone in a group call and the members completely lost it when they saw Yoongi's injuries and when he admitted his entire childhood to them. The members took a lot of time to tell him how much they all loved him and how nothing was his fault, and that even their own parents loved him. They asked if he was going to head back to the dorm early, even though they didn't have schedules for a while, but Taehyung interrupted. "No way. We still have so much fun to do together before going back!"

The members all talked for about an hour until Yoongi was staring to doze off. Taehyung ended the call and turned to face his hyung. He grabbed his hand. "Are you going to be okay? Because if not you can tell me. You can tell us. It's okay to not be okay."

"I think I'll be alright," Yoongi said sleepily. His eyes were dozing in and out of slumber. Taehyung's bed was warm and comfortable.

"I'm really sorry about your family," Taehyung frowned.

He was confused when he saw Yoongi start smiling. The rapper realized it didn't always have to be blood. His members, and their parents, had always been so warm, loving, kind, and caring towards him. He couldn't ignore that.

"Why are you smiling?" Taehyung asked.

"'Cause,"

"Cause why?"

"'Cause I realize I already have an amazing family."

[The End]
