Chapter 21: "You did good."
Yoongi panted breathlessly as Jungkook stood up, and Jimin was feeling completely useless shielding himself behind Yoongi. "Just leave him alone!" He yelled at Jungkook, who looked like he wanted to snap his neck. "This doesn't concern you, Yoongi. Step out of my way, and let me do what I need to do, and you won't be hurt." Jungkook spoke darkly, staring at Yoongi in his eyes. "I've never met such a liar in my life. I'm not moving." Yoongi told him. Jimins' head pounded in pain, and held his head to try and relieve it. He jumped back when Jungkook charged at Yoongi, slamming him completely into the locker next to him.
"You're weaker than that disgusting fagot! I was expecting more of a fight from you, Yoongi." Jungkook smirked as Yoongi fell to the floor. Jimin spotted dark red blood on his hands, and knew it was from his head. "Just kill me already, Jungkook! Quit being such a scaredy cat, and just take me! I'm the one you want, so just F*CKING TAKE ME!" He yelled at Jungkook who stood over him. "Gladly."
With all of the strength left in Yoongi, he reached up, and pulled on Jungkook's leg as Jimin spat out blood when Jungkook threw his head against the locker again. Jungkook kicked Yoongi in his neck, leaving a deep red footprint on his neck. Yoongi swallowed the blood that formed in his mouth, and was completely determined to save Jimin. Jungkook grabbed Jimin by his hair, and threw him onto the floor, right next to Yoongi. With most of his strength, he dug his steel-toed boot into Jimins' ribcage, while punching his jaw once more. Jimin let out a scream that echoed all throughout the hall, bouncing off all 4 walls.
Yoongi pushed Jungkook onto the floor, and climbed on top of him. He plunged his fist into his mouth, while holding his head down with his other hand wrapped around his neck. Jungkook growled in pain, and looked up right at Yoongi in his eyes. "This is between me and the hideous creature. Don't get stuck in a crossfire." He told him as he shoved him off of him, pushing his head against the floor. Yoongis' vision blurred everything into a light red, making it extremely difficult to see Jungkook's figure, let alone his face to punch.
He heard Jungkook punch Jimin again, only, nothing else followed. No scream, no yelp, and no cries.
"JEON JEONGGUK GET OFF OF HIM RIGHT NOW!" The principals' voice was heard at the end of the hall. Loud, heavy footsteps echoed down the hall, and Jungkook was yanked off of Jimin. "Jimin, can you see me?" Yoongis' teachers' voice was heard, hoisting up Jimin so he was sitting up. Yoongi barely saw Jimin drop lifelessly down next to the teacher, and fear pumped more adrenaline through his veins. "Jimin, are you okay?" He spoke frantically, rushing to Jimins' side. His vision cleared a bit, and saw blood.
There was a puddle of dark red blood where Jimins' head recently was rested, and as the teacher sat him up again, blood dripped from his head onto her uniform. Blood was smudged on the three dark blue lockers, along with on the floor. "Jeon Jungkook, you are now hear-by expelled from Apgujeong High School! Don't even worry about grabbing your things, your parent's are picking you up this instant!" The principal lightly yelled at Jungkook as she practically dragged him to the office by his arm. The nurse rushed down the stairs with a first-aid kit, and rushed over to the fight scene.
"He might have a concussion, he needs to go to the hospital asap. Call an ambulance for him." She announced as she tried to stop Jimins' head from bleeding. "Actually, a concussion would be a relief." She added as she inspected the bleed from his skull. One of the teacher's called an ambulance, and the nurse instructed the other teacher to hold the gauze on the bleed as she went to Yoongis' side. "Yoongi, can you follow my finger with your eyes?" She asked, placing her finger infront of his face. "No, I'm fine, Jimin's worse, take care of him first." Yoongi told the nurse as he pushed her hand away from his face.
"Yoongi, Jimin will be alright for now. I need you to-" "No! I'll let you check me out when I know for a fact that Jimin's okay!" Yoongi interrupted the nurse, looking her in her eyes. "Yoongi, you could have blood behind your eyes, because there's blood seeping out of them. I need you to follow my finger with your eyes." She explained to him, replacing her finger in front of his face. Yoongi whimpered in a sharp pain as he tried to follow her finger from left to right.
"Did that hurt?" She asked, grabbing more gauze to help with the blood on his lip. "Yeah, but everything hurts, so it's not different. I've gotten stuck in a fight with Jungkook before, and this isn't really different. Make sure Jimin's okay." Yoongi told her, speaking in a more calm tone. "He might have a concussion, Yoongi. An ambulance is coming to take him to the hospital. He will eventually be okay. We're gonna go to my office to make sure you are okay." She told him, standing up. Yoongi took her hand as he stood up, and immediate pain shot through his body, causing him to yelp.
"That's probably the adrenaline stopping. Come on, you need to rest." She informed him as he winced in pain. The nurse helped Yoongi to the nurses' office, and right as he was sat inside, the ambulance arrived for Jimin. Student's were waiting outside since the doors were still locked, and school was supposed to open 7 minutes ago. "Yoongi, you were punched pretty hard. I'm giving you the first 2 classes off to rest, and we'll go from there." The nurse explained, gently cleaning off Yoongis' face and neck of any blood.
Once Yoongi was cleaned up of any blood, and his small wounds were treated, the nurse allowed his to sleep in her office for 2 classes. The hallway was quickly cleaned, and Jungkook was expelled from the school, even though it was his last year in high school anyway. Yoongi was awoken by the nurse after the bell for second class was rung, and sat up against the wall. "How do you feel?" She asked as he yawned quietly. "Fine." Yoongi stated plainly, looking up at her. "Well, your eyes look much better than they did. I mean, you look better in general." The nurse joked, smiling at him sweetly.
"Yeah, I guess. Is Jimin-" "He was taken to the hospital. That's all I know." She interrupted him, knowing exactly what he was going to say. "Well, that's probably all I'm allowed to know." She added. She saw the sad and disappointed look on Yoongis' face as he stood up to leave. "Yoongi." She called after him when he started to leave. He silently winced in pain as he turned around to face the nurse. "Take it easy today." The nurse advised him, handing him his excuse.
"Sure." Yoongi lied, putting on a fake smile as he gently took the note from the nurse. He nodded a good bye, and ran to his homeroom to grab his things that were left on his desk. He knocked before entering, his teacher handed him his things, but didn't let go. Yoongi looked up at his teacher with confusion. "Come see me before you go to lunch." She whispered quietly to him, letting go of his binder. Yoongi nodded, and smiled as he left. 'I'm probably gonna get in trouble for punching a student and cursing. Wait, did I curse? I don't know.' He thought to himself as he ran to his third class.
"You wanted to see me?" Yoongi asked as he closed his binder, walking back into his homeroom while the other student's went to lunch. "I think it was incredibly honorable of you to...protect Jimin this morning." His teacher told him, erasing something on the white board. "It's fine. I didn't really do much but take the punches for him. He was sent to the hospital, while I only bled a bit. I didn't protect him at all." Yoongi told her, sighing to himself.
"Yoongi, Jimin is being hospitalized with a severe concussion. You saved him incredible brain damage. He was on the verge of a coma. One more punch or anything to his head, and he would've had to rely on machines to keep him alive. You're right. You didn't protect him. You saved his life." His teacher informed him, now looking him in his eyes. Yoongi blinked a few times, completely shocked. He saved someone's life? Wait, he just saved the same persons' life twice. "But no one can know I told you, because it's extremely personal information. I only know because I saw everything." She explained, walking up close to him.
"It wasn't very good of you to say those bad words though. Don't go saying them again, or there will be consequences. But I'm letting you slide, not just because you saved a students' life, but because you..." His teacher paused, and tears formed at the brim of Yoongi's eyes. She took a small breath, and placed her hand on his shoulder. "You did good." His teacher smiled at him. That totally didn't make him start crying. He's rarely ever been praised before, and when he did, it was for something stupid, like honor role or some crap. Never alone in an empty classroom.
His teacher could tell he didn't want to cry infront of her, but she also saw how much he wanted to. She pulled him into a comforting hug, even though it seemed like something else from someone if they didn't know what was actually happening. "I-it was nothing. Thank you, but I don't need comforted or praised for something I shouldn't have done." Yoongi told her, pulling apart their sad hug. He quickly turned around, and left before his teacher could say anything else.
As he reached the cafeteria, he noticed Jungkooks' gang of friends giving him a death glare. Did they know he was expelled already? "Yoongi!" Hoseok yelled in surprise, running up to him. He almost got knocked over by the force of his hug. "Why do you always get in fights?" He asked him, staring him in his eyes. "I don't know." Yoongi joked, smiling at the younger. "I was scared when I heard Jungkook got expelled and Jimin was rushed to the hospital." Hoseok told him in a tiny voice as he hugged him tighter. "Who told you I was involved?" Yoongi laughed as his lungs were being crushed by his boyfriend. "I don't know who told him, but Taehyung told me." Hoseok informed him, letting go of the hug.
"I swear I know him!" He added, looking up at Yoongi as if he wanted an explanation. "He spills the tea." Yoongi told him. He actually wasn't lying about that. "I'm starving-" "I bought your lunch, let's go!" Hoseok interrupted him, tugging him by his arm over to where Lisa was sitting. "Your face is now even more messed up." Lisa told him with an unreadable facial expression, looking at the bruises on his cheek and chin.
"Your face is always messed up. Shut up." Yoongi laughed, sitting next to her. "Do you know how long it takes me to get everything on fleak and on point?! No, no you don't! I put in more effort in my fashion than you do in a school essay! I look better than you ever will, so you don't have the right to insult me! You-" "It was a joke! Jesus!" Yoongi laughed, interrupting his sisters' scolding. Lisa huffed as she continued to eat her salad, and Yoongi hesitantly ate his lunch Hoseok had bought for him. He hesitated at first, because he thought he did something to it, since he's never done this before.
As soon as school led out, Yoongi instantly took out his phone to text Jimin to see if he was okay. It wasn't because he was depressed and suicidal, it was because he hated Jungkook, and was done with all of his sh*t. Jungkook was a dick. He always was, and probably always will be. Plus, he wanted to get in that fight with him. He felt the need to be punished for the wrongs he's done. He texted Jimin, and called him. He never answered, or responded.
He was half-tempted to go to the hospital to see him, but he also just wanted to do his favorite thing: Sleep. He used the fight with Jungkook as an excuse to get Hoseok to carry him back to his house, and saw Lisa carry his backpack. He sassily and purposefully fell asleep in Hoseoks' arms, smiling as he drifted off into dreamland.
He woke up when he was placed in the room that would soon permanently be his, and curled up with his knees against his stomach. He didn't have to open his eyes to know it was Hoseok's hands that were wrapped around him, and body pressed up against him. He felt a kiss to his cheek, and couldn't stop the smile that formed on his lips. "I love you." Hoseok whispered as he laid back down comfortably, ready to take a long nap. Yoongi was ready for a super long nap that would last until the morning, and Hoseok just helped him do just that.
Although, he wasn't able to sleep through the entire night. He assumed his sister or his boyfriend just had to tell Sarah and Nikko what happened to him at school, and he was able to skip dinner. He didn't want to go downstairs into the bright light to eat food and pause his amazing sleep. He woke up in the middle of the night, and spotted his phone charging across the room. After a long while of not being able to go back to sleep, Yoongi decided to get up into the dark coldness of the room, and walked across the room to check the time. He was blinded by the bright light, and cursed under his breath for not preparing himself. It happens every time, yet he never seems to remember the light of his phone in the middle of the night is blinding.
3:12 A.M.
"I slept for more than 12 hours?" Yoongi questioned himself in a whisper, squinting at the time. He sighed as he put his phone on the nightstand next to his bed, since it was already at 100%, and cuddled back up against his sleeping boyfriend. Once he laid in bed for at least 20 more minutes, he decided to finish his song he was writing in school earlier, and hoped he might get tired after finishing. His eyes adjusted to the dark quickly, and quietly dug through his backpack to find the 2 pieces of paper with his lyrics on it, and tried not to make any noise as he sat down at the desk that was in the room.
He propped his phone up against the wall, and used his flashlight to see. His phone was one of those phone's where he could adjust the brightness of the flashlight, as well as the screen brightness. He groaned internally when he realized he forgot a pencil, and carefully traveled back over to his backpack to grab his pencil. "F*ck!" Yoongi cursed in a whisper, immediately retracting his hand when he was stabbed with something sharp.
Reaching around in his backpack, he found the sharp object, and pulled it out. It was small, and he almost laughed out loud when he saw what it was. "Well, at least I found it." He tried not to laugh as he glared at his pencil for hurting him. "You're mean." He whispered to it, as if it was going to respond with an 'I'm sorry'. He glanced over his shoulder every 10 minutes to make sure Hoseok was still asleep. He didn't want him to think he didn't want to sleep, or think he was writing something else.
Yoongis' alarm went off for the second time before Hoseok finally woke up and shut it off. He wasn't even fully awake before he realized Yoongi wasn't next to him. He frantically looked around, and breathed out a sigh of relief when he found him asleep with his head on the desk. After contemplating whether his education was worth getting out of a warm bed was worth it for a while, he sat up, and moved the covers to the end of the bed.
"Did you fall asleep?" He laughed, walking over to Yoongi. He had his head resting on his arms, facing the left wall, not facing Hoseok. He spotted a piece of paper next to him, and curiously picked it up. Extremely curiously, he flipped it over, and read what was written:
'Breaking off from the world, after leaving home
At the age of 17
I didn't want to consume my emotions
In my perspective
My school life was 100 out of 100
But sociophobia develops and my human relations is 0
I always prepare two masks
Hiding my true self
Behind the defensive image
I thoroughly hide myself
As if I'm a criminal
I couldn't take a step outside the house
That was like a prison
Drifting away
Friends, family or anyone around me
They can't remain beside me so they brush past me
The arrow still misses the target market "human relations"
Pretending not to be lonely, pretending not to be in pain
Pointlessly pretending to be okay
Pointlessly pretending to be strong
Don't climb over the wall I've built in front of me
I'm the island in this vast ocean, don't abandon me'
Word Count: 3,050
The lyrics in which Yoongi has written down, are the english translations to the song "140503 at dawn" by Agust D. I don't own anything, and the song belongs to Agust D. A few words were changed to fit the story, so they are not the complete english translations. Only 3 words were changed throughout the song, and I wanted to make that clear, because I really don't want to be/get in trouble for anything.
