Chapter 10: Watch Me Shine

A man runs through the streets of a city. Not many people on the streets as the UA Sports festival is currently going.

"Squad A head north. Squad B, check the west side!" The man orders as he continues running. The two squads affirm his orders. Sirens Blair in the distance, for a moment the man feels something then stops and turns to an alleyway. "No doubt about it. It's him." He says to himself entering the alleyway and stopping in front of a man. "I've found you! Hero Killer!" Ingenium shouts.

Chapter 10: Watch Me Shine

It's time for the second round, Raijin & Bokasu sit in the waiting room watching the match on a computer monitor. Waiting for their matches. The first match of the second match, Todoroki Vs. Midoriya. The match was a spectacle. Midoriya even forced Todoroki into using his fire to win the match. Probably the best battle of the entire tournament just happened in the quarterfinals. Midoriya loses. Todoroki advances to the semifinals.

Bokasu bounces on his feet's soles. Slowly his speed builds, and the crowd roars in anticipation of the next match.

"Iida, Start as fast as you can. This will be over quick, you hear me?" Bokasu says.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes." Bokasu crouches down still moving.

The match begins and it's a whirlwind, the two exchange several punches and kicks, at immense speeds, their movement is so fast many struggle to keep up with the pair.

"I won't lose damn it!" Bokasu shouts as he gets sent back by a kick to the gut by Iida, he grabs Iida's lag and starts spinning the pair whirling round and round, until Bokasu releases Iida which sends him flying. Iida skids against the ground he flips and skids to stop before rushing back to Bokasu with a mighty punch, Bokasu replies with a spinning back kick, which upon contact causes Iida to fold almost instantly, unconscious.

"The winner of the match, by knockout, Aka Bokasu!" Midnight announces.

Iida lays on the ground his glasses broken on the floor. Bokasu sits next to him out of breath a black eye and a bloody mouth. The pair brutalized by their physicality. When medics come for the pair Iida is helped away, Bokasu meanwhile stands taking a deep breath he raises both arms in victory.

The next match... Raijin Vs. Tokoyami

Raijin stands across from Tokoyami the pair standing still, as the crowd roars around them. When the match begins Tokoyami calls for Dark Shadow to attack, and the small bird-like creature rushes forward to Kyo, it looms over him when he flips a switch on his battery pack.

"Lightning Pulse." He mutters, and a surge of red electricity shoots out all around him electrocuting Dark Shadow and sending it retreating to Tokoyami. "Tokoyami, you should have surrendered." Kyo says walking forward. "Its weakness is light, no?" Kyo asks stopping just outside the beast's range.

Tokoyami glares rushing forward with Dark Shadow beside him. "Don't underestimate me!" He attempts to throw a punch which is caught by Raijin. Dark Shadow attempts to attack him from behind, however he and Tokoyami freeze when he hears what sounds like thousands of birds chirping loudly mere inches away from his head, he looks down, and just in front of his neck is the source of the sound a ball of electricity surrounding Kyoreki's hand. Tokoyami sighs, Dark Shadow's caught at the source. "Fine. I surrender." Tokoyami raises his hands in surrender to Kyoreki.

"Surrender accepted!" Midnight announces. "Kyoreki Raijin advances to the next round!"

The sound of the chirping dies down. Kyoreki extends a hand, a sign of respect to Tokoyami.  "Sorry mate was just a bad match for you."

"That is fine. You had me beat." Tokoyami accepts the handshake.

Ember and Danielle sigh, the two stand in a dark alley with the police blocking it off.

"This isn't good." Ember mutters.

"No, it's not. He's hurt another one." Danielle says grimly.

"With Link out of commission, we can't search for him right now." Ember kicks a rock. "We know he's here in Hosu, that just means we have to limit his chances of escape for two months." Behind them inside the Alley paramedics work to get Ingenium onto a gurney, so they can get him to a hospital immediately.

Afterwards, the two walk away from the arena, the next match is Bakugo Vs. Kirishima, the match was serviceable. Kirishima gave his all to try and defeat Bakugo, however, Kirishima would overwork himself, and ultimately he'd pass out setting up the semi-finals.

Aka Bokasu Vs. Shoto Todoroki

Bokasu sighs as he stands across from Todoroki. He taps his index finger and his thumb together slowly building his speed as he stands across from Todoroki, who stares at him blankly. "Todoroki." Bokasu calls out, barely getting a response. "You won't win the Sports Festival this year." Bokasu's red eyes stare directly into Todoroki's blue eye.

"Begin!" Present Mic shouts.

Bokasu speeds forward but is forced to dodge a wall of ice, stopping his momentum buildup. He turns and dodges another wave of ice. He runs to the side, before going down, and twists on his heel to avoid a wave of ice being launched at him. After that twist he runs in the opposite direction for a moment until Todoroki blocks his path again, he switches on a dime and after having built up enough speed rushes for Todoroki. Todoroki tries to Block him, but Bokasu moves too fast, landing a solid punch on Todoroki sending him flying back.

Todoroki catches himself with a wall of ice and wipes the blood from his mouth, Bokasu is already on the move. "Damn it." Todoroki mutters seeing the build-up continuing. Todoroki drops to a crouch his hand glides across the arena floor, Bokasu leaps up and runs across the wave of frost approaching him, until it's too much, he's suddenly dragged back, and half encapsulated by ice.

"I'm sorry." Todoroki mutters. "There was no other way." He says approaching Bokasu.

Bokasu sighs accepting defeat. "Damn it. I got Sero'd." He says defeatedly.

Kyoreki Raijin Vs. Katsuki Bakugo

The crowd roars as they await the participants, both of them stand alone at opposite sides of their tunnels. Bakugo emerges first, being introduced by Present Mic. Bakugo takes a deep breath and keeps his eyes forward, not acknowledging the crowded arena. As Present Mic begins to introduce Raijin, he emerges similar to Bakugo, dead silent, eyes forward glued to his opponent.

"I've been looking forward to this." Raijin says bowing respectfully to his opponent.

"My Powers have doubled since the last time I fought." Bakugo replies.

"Double the Pride, Double the fall." Raijin says crouching down.

"Begin!"

Bakugo bursts forward with explosions as Raijin follows suit using his Circus Pillar to leap forward. The pair collide in the center of the arena with Raijin using his quirk to flip around Bakugo, the pair blocking each other's hands and sending them up towards the air, or to the side. Raijin, while able to land a few blows also takes a few shots in return. The pair both block a hit at the same moment they shoot their heads forward crashing foreheads together. The pair both take a few steps back dazed. However, Bakugo recovers quicker and goes on the attack. Raijin is forced to dodge several times to avoid being out of bounds, however, during this he starts charging his electricity even more. Raijin uses Lightning Cords to swat away Bakugo's hands as he continues to dodge. That is until he gets to the center of the ring and crouches down covering one of his hands with the other from the audience. Bakugo recognizes the position and after a moment of hesitation, he blasts forward.

"I won't be beat by your light tricks, you damn loser!"

Bakugo starts spinning around in a cloud of explosions going faster and faster while Raijin places one hand down into the ground. His body begins to shoot electricity wildly in every direction as he struggles to keep it from hitting the spectators. The pair smirk at each other and at the same moment fire their attacks.

"Eat shit, extra! Howitzer... Impact!" Bakugo shouts.

Raijin takes a deep breath and runs forward. "Lightning Pulse Overdrive!" He shouts rushing directly into the massive explosion.

The pair of attacks collide with Bakugo's Howitzer Impact slamming into a giant vortex of electricity with Raijin at the center. After a few seconds, the entire arena explodes leaving a dust cloud that after a few moments clears up revealing Bakugo crouched directly over Raijin his hand centimeters away from Raijin's face. Raijin, however, is unconscious with cuts covering his body. Both he and Bakugo are missing their jackets.

Bakugo stands, struggling to stay standing he takes a few wobbly steps back as it's announced he's the winner. Katsuki Bakugo will move on to face Shoto Todoroki in the finals.

Raijin sighs as he joins his class in the booth. "Yo." He says exhausted.

"Raijin!" Several of them cheer.

"Hey, good showing out there!" Mina congratulates him.

"Thanks." He says softly sitting next to Yaoyorozu in the front row. "Have they started?" He asks quietly.

"No, you and Bakugo nearly destroyed the ring, man." Kirishima says. "What was that move ya did?"

"Don't know. I just used a move I used during the cavalry battle, and put some extra effort into it."

"You could say, you went "plus ultra"?" Mina teases.

Raijin's mood immediately sours and he puts his earbuds on. He opens Spotify, quickly pressing on a playlist titled "Mother & I" before pressing the top song on the playlist.

Post Chapter Scene End.

This chapter was written on Thursday, August 2023... it's been 1 week since the passing of Windham "Bray Wyatt" Rotunda. For those of you who have followed me since my early days in 2018, you'll know that I am a lifelong wrestling fan. WWE, AEW, Impact, and New Japan (to a much smaller extent) has been my life as far as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are of the wrestling events I went to as a kid. Meeting Batista, Rey Mysterio, and Eddie Guerrero in 2005, attending the 2005 Royal Rumble in Fresno, California. There is so, so much I wish I could say, I don't know the man who played Bray Wyatt personally. I never met him in person. But the creative mind you could see on TV for a decade. It made me love horror. I attribute my modern love of horror, to my fascination with 2013 Bray Wyatt, the cult leader, the leader of the Wyatt Family, with Erick Rowan, and the late great Mr. Brodie Lee. Bray Wyatt debuted, just after I got back into wrestling in 2013 after I went on a nearly 5 year hiatus. From 2009 when Jeff Hardy left the WWE till 2013 I didn't watch WWE. And I attribute part of what got me back into being a wrestling fan was Bray Wyatt, Daniel Bryan's amazing 2013-14 run, and the rise of The Shield. So, I guess all I can say, is thank you. Thank you, Bray Wyatt. Thank you, Windham Rotunda. Thank you for everything you did, and thank you for inspiring me to try and be better. May you rest in peace.

"He's got the whole world, in his hands. He's got the whole world, in his hands. He's got the whole wide world, in his hands. He's got the whole, world, in his, hands."
