Kyle's P.O.V

I woke up at 6:30 Am which means I have only half an hour to be ready for the first day of my senior year in high school. I'm sure that my twin sis Rachel is already out of the house, probably at Starbucks buying her favorite morning coffee.

I took a quick shower then got dressed up. I went downstairs to the kitchen so I can get my breakfast. There's no way I'm going anywhere without having food. I found mum already in the kitchen preparing breakfast for both me and her. My little brother-who's ten years old- Jacob must be at school.

"Morning mum" I said as I sat on one of the kitchen counter's seats.

"Morning son. Why can't you be a compliant boy that pleases his poor mother and wakes up only half an hour earlier so he can be in school on time?" My mother asked dramatically.

"You have to give me a reward cause I woke up that early not to mock me. And to answer your question that you already know it's answer; because I'm not a morning fan and I don't tend to please you soon" I said sarcastically. She scoffed at me before shaking her head in disapproval.

I glanced at my watch as I was heading to the car to find that it's 6:58 am. It means that I have two minutes only to arrive to school and it's obviously not possible. Cause I need at least ten minutes to reach the school.

My calculations were right. It took me ten minutes to get to school. It took me another five minutes to get my schedule and reach the class room. My first class was English.. this won't go well.

"Good morning Mr. Brock, why so early" Mr. Williams said sarcastically once I entered the class room.

"Good morning Mr. Williams" I said as I went to the back of the class to take a seat. I found an unoccupied seat and slid myself in it.

"Did I tell you to take a seat?" Mr. Williams asked angrily.

"Well, I did anyways" I muttered.

"Detention today after school, I would like to see you there Kyle" Mr. Williams said victoriously.

I know Mr. Williams from last year. He is in his forties, married and has two kids. All I can say that we just don't get along.. at all.

I looked around me, glancing at all the familiar students but stopped at a certain one that I never saw before. She was a brunette girl that sat beside me. Her face was actually kind of hidden by the big shades she was wearing.

Wait.. Shades aren't allowed in class! So why are they allowing her? It could only be one of three things; she has very sensitive eyes so they can't be exposed to light.

Or.. She just had a surgery so her eyes can't be exposed to light.

Or an option that for some unknown reason I wouldn't really like.. She is blind.

All I was thinking about the whole class was that girl. I kept watching her as if doing that would give me answers to my questions.

Sadly, it didn't.

My next class was History. I exchanged my stuff from the locker before I headed to the class room. Once I went in I saw Rach waving at me as she spoke to a girl.. Specifically the one I kept watching in the previous class.

"Elizabeth.. this is my twin brother Kyle" Rach introduced. I already like her name.

"Kyle, this is Elizabeth. A new friend of mine" Rach said pointing at Elizabeth.

"Hi Elizabeth. Nice to meet you" I said softly.

"Nice to meet you" She said with shyness.

In that class I knew why were they allowing her to wear the shades.. She is indeed blind. And don't ask me why.. but I felt sad for that.

After class; me, Rach and Elizabeth waited for her friend to come. But she didn't come alone. She came with my best friend Tyler. I noticed the way he looked at her. I can already say that he likes her.

After we all got introduced to each other we went to the cafeteria and sat together.

"Bro, can you show me your schedule?" Rach suddenly asked. I opened my backpack's zip, took out the schedule and gave it to her. She was holding another schedule in her hand, she moved her eyes on both of the schedules then seemed a little shocked.

"What's wrong Rach?" I asked confusedly.

"You guys have the same schedule" She answered with excitement.

"Who do you mean by 'you guys'?" Elizabeth asked.

"I mean you and Kyle.. what a coincidence!" Rachel answered. I glanced at Elizabeth and she seemed nervous for hearing that.

We found that me, Elizabeth, Ellie and Tyler share next class which is Chemistry. After lunch was done Rach went to her class while the four of us to ours. We entered the class and sat down, me beside Liza and in front of us Tyler beside Ellie. Mr. Hertly entered the class and started speaking.

"Good morning everyone. I want you today in pairs. Each two beside each other are partners and they will work together" He instructed. It means that me and Liza are partners while Tyler and Ellie are partners.

We worked in class.. well, I did the combinations while Liza gave me instructions, she is a good leader. I glanced at Tyler and Ellie every now and then and they were doing fine. The rest of the class was peaceful.

After Mr. Williams detention was over I went to Tyler's place.

"So, what is it with Ellie?" I asked as we played the second round of playstation.

"What?" He asked as if he doesn't know what I mean. But me, knowing Tyler for almost our whole lives, I knew he knew what I meant.

"Come on man, stop it with the chase. It's not like I just knew you yesterday. So, spill" I said directly.

"Okay, fine. I think I like her. I know I just met her. but I don't know. Something in her attracts me" He said truthfully.

"Little Ty has a little crush" I sang sarcastically as I winked at him.

"Shut up, jerk" He said as we laughed.

After a while I went home as we had to get some sleep for school. I laid in bed and stared at the ceiling. Suddenly the image of Elizabeth popped in my mind. I wonder what her story is.

Elizabeth's P.O.V

"Dad, I'm home" I said as I entered the house. I heard dad's hurry footsteps.

"Welcome home, Bethy" He said as he kissed my head.

"Come on, food is ready" He said as he helped me to the dinning room.

"Where's Katie?" I asked dad as I heard him put things in my plate.

"At her friend's Sandy. They have assignments to do together" Dad answered.

"How was work?" I asked him as I started eating.

"It was okay. They're thinking of opening another branch" He answered.

"That's exciting" I commented.

"It indeed is" He said.

"How was your day? Have you made any new friends?" He asked.

What I really like about my dad is that he gives me real attention. He doesn't ask about my day to just know if I'm doing okay or not, he asks because he's really interested in knowing how was my day. And unlike most men, he listens to the details without tiresome.

"I met some people. I wouldn't really call them my friends, we just met. There's Rachel and Kyle who are twins. And another friend of theirs is called Tyler. We all share a few classes" I explained. I'm not the kind of people who would call someone a friend that easily.. Or at least not anymore.

"Well, that's progress. I'm proud that you're finally starting to get out of your shell. This is really good" He said softly.

"It wasn't intentionally" I said awkwardly. Did I even want to make new friends? Probably no.

"But you did get along. You could've ran away from them or something.. but you didn't. You could've stayed home from the start.. but you also didn't. I'm proud of you for going out there" He said and I started to tear up.

"I don't feel ready, dad. I don't feel ready to get along. I don't feel ready to let people in. I don't even feel ready to get out of the house" I said truthfully.

"It's okay, sweetie. It's not going to be easy. But you'll make it. I believe that you can make it. Just.. Just don't give up. Everything is going to be okay" He said as he squeezed my hand assuring me.

"Thank you dad. For believing in me even when I don't myself" I said gratefully.

"I will always believe in you" He said softly as I smiled warmly at him.

"Come on, finish your plate. I bought us raspberry ice-cream, your favorite" He said excitedly.

I don't know what would I've done without him.
