Dick's POV

Batman took me back home after buying me a bar of chocolate.

I happily skipped home, holding his hand. He actually smiled at me. I have never seen Batman smile, or get any form of attention from Bruce.

Superman and Wonder Woman had decided we needed to talk so they left.

Once we reached the mansion, Batman took me to that cave place.

"This is the Bat Cave. I'm assuming you already know about it," Bruce said taking off his cowl.

He went to change out of his costume so I decided to look around the cave.

The tech was amazing and I immediately started messing around with the computer.

I don't know what I did, but all of a sudden, I saw a file labelled 'confidential'. I shouldn't have been snooping around, but I was curious.

I clicked on the file.

"Access denied," A voice came out from the speakers of the computer.

I started messing with the computer until it said, 'Access granted'.

Hmm. Turns out I was good with computers.

"What are you doing?" Bruce came in, wearing his civilion clothes.

"Oh... um... Bruce... I was.... um... nothing..." I stammered.

He looked at the file I had opened. I turned to look at it as well.

I saw some articles and notes. There were also a few pictures. All about one man... Tony Zucco...

The man who had killed my parents. It was all my fault that that had happened. If I just warned my parents beforehand...

Tears started flowing down my face.

Bruce pulled me to a hug.

"You okay kiddo?" he asked, although he already knew the answer.

"No... It was my fault! All my fault! I knew he didn't belong to the circus! I-I could have saved Mama and Tati!" I yelled throwing my fists at Bruce, who didn't even flinch. He just hugged me tight while I sobbed.

"There, there..." he said in a soothing voice, something I had never heard come out from him before.

"I know exactly how you feel," he empathised with me, which surprised me.

"You do?" I asked, my crying had stopped.

"Yes. My parents were killed right in front of me when I was about your age. I know that all you can think of is what you xould have done. How you could have stopped it from happening," he said

"Does the pain ever go away?" I asked, full of hope.

"Sadly, no."

My frown deepened.

"There's not a day that goes without me thinking of them. Alfred helped me cope through it though. He became my father figure. I decided that I did not want anyone to go through what I had before, so I decided to become 'Batman' trying to bring justice. I want you to to have someone to look after you, like Alfred did for me. However I am not really good with these sort of things so Alfred did most of the taking care. The pain doesn't go away, but you have to learn to let happiness in," Bruce advised.

I just stared in awe at how Bruce was opening up to me. I gave him a hug.

A few seconds later I asked, "did you really mean it?"

"What?" He asked.

"Me. Being your protegé?"

"If you're up for it," he smirked.

"Yes! Definitely! When do we start?" I was overjoyed.

"You want to choose a hero name?" Bruce asked.

"Yes, um, how about... Robin?" I asked.

"Robin? That's interesting. Why 'Robin'?"

"Mama always used to call me Robin." I said sadly.

He put a hand on my shoulder."Robin sounds perfect. I already know you'll be great at this. Look at the way you hacked into the Bat Cave systems!"

I smiled up at him.

"Just some combat (pun intended :P) training, and you'll be ready to go on patrol with me." He continued.

"Then what are we waiting for! Let's get started!" I said dragging him towards a place that looked like a fighting arena.

"Not this momment Master Dick. It's dinner time and then straight off to bed. You have school tomorrow." Alfred came down the stairs.

"Awwww okay. Is Bruce gonna sit with us today?" I asked.

"Actually Master Bruce has-"

"Definately kido. What have you got for us Alfred?" Bruce asked.

I hugged him. For the first time in the manor, I actually felt loved and at home.

"Lemon zested Chicked with hiney drizzled on top, along with garlic bread." Alfred said.

"Sounds great. Fix me some cofee as well." Bruce said.

"Yes sir." Alfred replied.

I wanted something to drink as well so I asked, "What about me?"

"Perhaps the young master would like some almonds and a glass of warm milk before bed?"

That sounded great so I gave him a thumbs up. (I dont like to drink plain milk but I had to make a referance to Son of Batman.)

We headed up and started dinning in.

Bruce tried to make a conversation.

"So, how is school?" I guess he did not know how to talk to kids.

"Oh school is great. I made a friend, Barbara. She's the comissionar's daughter." I said trying to think of the good things.

"That's nice kido. I myself am good friends with the comissionar." He replied.

I was liking this. Being noticed by Bruce. He may not be my real dad, but after today, he is starting to feel like a dad to me.

I smiled at him.

After I had finished my milk, I headed to my room and prepaired for bed.

Once I got in bed, I heard a knock on my door.

"Come in." I said.

Bruce walked in.

"Hey Dickie. I wanted to tuck you in." He said.

I nodded.

"You know, I have no idea how to become responsible for a child. I never had a normal childhood but I want you to. If anything ever bothers you in school, you can tell me. Now, who was he?" Bruce said.

"Uh.. I don't want to talk about it. It's not that serious anyways." He looked at me.

"It's just some kid in my class. He doesn't hit me or anything, he just likes to say hurtful things. I think it's because he has problems of his own and does not know how to deal with it. " I said.

"Okay. But if anyone hurts you, you can tell me."

"Okay"

"Goodnight kido." He said, and then kissed my forehead.

"Goodnight dad." I replied, yawning.

Just before I zoned out, I heard him say, "Goodnight son"

And I'm doneee XD I updated the third chapter. Sorry I didnt update sooner, I was in a writing block. Anywho, I wanted to make this fluffy and filled with daddybats.
