Dick's POV.

It's been 1 year since the day I lost my parents. A lot has happened since then.

Bruce Wayne actually adopted me which was cool and all but it didn't feel like home... don't get me wrong, I loved the place and Alfred was good company, but it didn't feel like the circus.... obviously.

A few months later I was starting to settle into my new life but one day I stumbled upon a grandfathers clock in the library.

It didn't seem odd any other time I went there but I saw a gap between the clock and the wall. The gap was way to big for it to be the wall so I pushed the clock to one side and saw a hidden door.

Curious, I crept in and down the stairs in order to not be caught by Bruce. And I must say that I'm quite stealthy.

"A child! Bruce? Do you have any idea what kind of danger you are putting him in? You litterally just said he is about to be 9 years old." A woman said.

"Diana please, the child will be safe with me around. I would never and I mean never, let anything happen to him. I could never forgive myself if anything does happen to him." Bruce replied.

What was going on?

I walked closer and used my acrobatic skills to hide on top of the air shafts so no one could see me.

When I looked down, what I saw made no sense whatsoever. It was Bruce but he was wearing a Batman suit.

I looked at his company and I almost gasped. It was Superman and Wonder Woman. What are they doing here?

Then everything fell in place. The reason Bruce has so many injuries, why he never is home, etc.

Bruce Wayne is Batman. That is sooo cool. Its like he knows the Justice League. But Batman?!?! That does not seem like the Bruce Wayne I know.

Then I realised that I don't really know him that well at all.

I decided to creep out of this..... cave?

Once I left that whatever you call it, I decided to go out and think this through.

I decided to go to a nearby candy shop because at times like this, one could really use a bar of Hersheys Cookies and Creame

As I walked, i started fiddling my hand in my pockets looking for any amount of money I could find.

I gave out a sigh of relief as I pulled out a $10 note and started grinning and started running towards the shop.

I just really wanted that chocolate. Come on! Don't tell me that you dont crave junk food more and more when you keep thinking of it.

I know what you all are thinking. Dick what's wrong with you? Who goes out to eat junk food when they just found out that their guardian is Batman?

Well just a reminder, I still just 9 years old so my mind gets distracted easily.

Suddenly I heard something in a nearby alley.

Curious, I started heading towards that alley.

I halted because next I heard a very very very creepy laugh.

Oh no.....

It can't be...........

I started running the opposite direction but a girl blocked my path.

"PUDDIN! I'VE GOT HIM!" She yelled.

"Good job Harley." The joker came in and giggled.

"Hello there kido. We are gonna have so much fun together. Isn't that right Harley?" He said.

"Oh yes!" She smirked.

Bruce POV

"The kid will be fine. He doesn't even know I'm batman." I said.

Suddenly I heard footsteps coming our way.

"Master Bruce. There seems to be a problem." Alfred said running in.

"What is it Alfred?" I asked.

"It's Master Dick! He isn't anywhere in the house. I'm afraid he left the house." He said.

"WHAT! How? Where could he be? Why would he leave?" I started questioning. Gosh I sound like a 4 year old but I was worried sick. If anything happens to the boy, i could never forgive myself. I'm his guardian.

"I'm not sure about the first two but sometimes Master Dick feels alone in this house. Maybe that's why." Alfred replied.

Superman and Wonder Woman gave me a disaproving look.

"You can't even make him feel like he is in a nice home. We have to look for him. Gotham isn't safe for a child or anyone in general. And everyone knows he is the ward of Bruce Wayne, the billionare. He could get kidnapped." Wonder Woman said.

By then my cowl was already on and I was already by the batmobile.

"Come on! "I yelled to the two of them.

They both flew out while I drove.

Suddenly Alfred called.

"Master Bruce it's the Joker. He gave you a call on your landline saying that he has Master Dick and wants a ransom of 3 million dollars. He says to meet him at the park in 20 minutes or he will shoot the boy." He said.

I sped the batmobile faster. 3 million wasnt that hard to pay for but it was the Joker. Who knows what he wanted that money for? But as Batman there is a chance that Dick will be okay. This was my fault. If only I gave him some attention. Treated him like a son....

I told Clark and Diana where to go and we soon reached the gotham park in 15 minutes.

5 minutes later The Joker appeared with my son all gagged up and tied.

I almost shouted his name but refrained myself from doing so.

"Hand over the child Joker." I said, glarring at him.

"Ahhh Batsies. What a totally unexpected delight. Now why would I hand this kid ovee to you? I'm waiting for his guardian Bruce Wayne with my ransome. With that money I can finally...... wait... why am I telling this to you? HARLEYYYYY would you like to entertain our company?" Joker said.

"Sure thing puddin." She yelled.

"Superman! Wonder Woman! Keep Joker and Harley busy. I'm going to free Dick and tell him to go back to the manor.." I said.

We went on with the plan. However as soon as I cut Dick free, the Joker came up with a knife on my neck.

My eyes drated to Dick and suddenly I was saddened.

Dick's POV.

My first instinct was to run. But I was terrified. My feet were rooted to the ground. I was shaking. But I finally snapped out of it when the Joker held Bruce with a knife to his neck

Something got triggered in me. I had already lost one family and I couldn't loose anyone else.

I flipped up to the nearest railing, did a flip to propell myself towards the joker kicking him on the face.

Shocked, Joker stumbled back and let Bru- I mean Batman go.

I ran towards Joker and kicked him on the shin. He tried to hit back but I easily dodged it. I did a flip and landid on his shoulder. Then I wrapped my legs around his neck and pulled him down getting off him at the last second, causing Joker to hit his head and get knocked out.

Superman and Wonder Woman had already knocked Harley and the three heros were looking at me with a very shocked look on thier faces. It was hillarious that I actually burst out laughing.

"Kid? Are you okay? You should head home. Your parents should be very worried." Batman said and I could have sworn I saw him cringe.

"I'm fine Bruce. And you actually care for me?" I replied.

"How did you-" he started.

"Well I kinda found your secret lab or whatever its called when you were talking to these two." I said pointing at Superman and Wonder Woman.

"So much for him not knowing." Wonder Woman smirked.

"Dick. I was worried something had happened to you. Why didn't you tell me that you felt so alone. I want you to know that the Wayn Manor will always be home for you. " Bruce said and I started to cry.

"I was so scared Bruce. I thought I would never see you again. I'm sorry I left. I was actually just getting some chocolate haha but I love you Bruce. I love you.... dad." I said through sobs.

He hugged me.

"So where did you learn to fight like that?" Superman.

"Firstly Clark, can I call you that? I mean you are Clark Kent and Wonder Woman here is Diana Prince. Well I'm and acrobat so I kinda used my skills on this. I never fought with anyone before." I replied.

Superman and Wonder Woman just stared at me, their mouths hanging.

"You should close your mouths. You don't want any bugs entering them now do you?" I said smirking.

Batman was actually smirking.

"I think I'm gonna get myself a protege." Batman said putting a hand on me shoulder.
